Wow… Just wow. How the hell can a website even be listed on trust pilot after being hacked? Product review is worthless anyway, as nearly every review on there is fake, shilled or paid for in some way.

  • +18

Thanks but no thanks after missing cashback was declined for Ebay promotion by "Debra". I will stick with Cashrewards, at least they have "real" people who properly explain why it was declined. Adds a nice human element that makes you feel like a proper customer…oh and of course no hack issues to date…

  • +1

Geez not a big fan of adding the bank card in app and having to wait for the 5% cashback and bonus. SB has been spotty in the past for me, so fingers crossed this gets honoured.

  • +1

The king of the gift cards, The Wish, is missing on the list unfortunately.

  • Cheers OP!

Also do note that you can remove your credit/debit card via Account > Add/Manage Payment Methods.

  • +11

Giving credit card details to Shopback is not very clever after their hack and fake 5-star reviews.

    • +7

Can't be trusted with our personal info, definitely won't be trusted to buy anything from. Great point

  • +9

So, leaking your customers details is only worth $2???. Nice.

How is this worth 120+ upvotes for $2 after they were hacked and people's data has been taken… They must be pouring a lot of cash into the OzBargain coffers for them to still be allowed to post.

This is right up there with RRP Nintendo posts getting hundreds of upvotes…

    • +10

Yeah I still think they should be banned for 3 months as a warning.

I asked about Shopback in the Site Discussion forum and my post was deleted.

I asked this in the Moderation discussion and they Resolved my case twice without replying.

Not sure why ozbargain is so keen to support a company that has caused harm to ozbargain's own customers.

      • +4

It seems that you can just buy your way out of bad PR and the shit mess you caused and that people will happily sell all their personal data for a $2 rebate…

Much like everyone else voting negatively on this deal, you've probably given a lot more for a lot less to other free online services.

Yet, here you are jumping on the bandwagon just 'cos.

      • +1

        So other companies also suck?

Great argument but doesn't explain why they ignore all comments on here about it but still reply to comments that propel their marketing.

        • Yep, and I bet that you knowingly use their services without batting an eye-lid.

I'd also bet you aren't truly concerned about your data on this occasion, but are just being a voice that you think people want to hear.

It takes prepaid MasterCard/VISA. Perfect to use $50/$100 up in one trxn.

Also do not worry about info leaking coz the card is prepaid and empty.

Another good option is Zip one time use VISA card.

    • +1

      I have a prepaid Mastercard that wasn't accepted…

      • +1

Coles MasterCard no problem. I have used some before today.

        • Mine is an EML issued card, although was able to pay with Zip no worries

Does anyone know how to contact Shopback directly?

Purchased a Doordash gift card today, said error when I tried to redeem it. Doordash has gotten back to me stating: “the gift card is reflecting as already redeemed. If you believe this is in error, please contact the Merchant you purchased the gift card with for more information regarding this gift card.”

I have NOT used it. Complete waste of time, and very disappointing.

thats a bit concerning . thanks for the heads up . i better check my jb hi card balance and change my shopback account password since their data breach. on another note does anyone know if you can combine some small jb hi fi e-gift cards into a single e card online?

    • If you haven't already yet could you email [email protected] with your code, and then send through a PM here with your email address? Will get the team to check on this as soon as they can.

      • Thank you. Will do.

  • +6

Very unhappy about the huge amounts of spam I've received since the breach

    • +1

I have received 0 spam emails to the email address I used for Shopback (I use a unique burner email for this account)
I have received 0 spam emails to my inboxes on any email address I use, so whatever service you use (probably ISP mail) doesn't care about spam filtering. I have hundreds of spam emails in the spam folders of these services…
Check haveibeenpwned.com. I have been pwned in numerous services, and these lists are where spammers source your email address from.

  • Says code doesn't exist?

  • -1

Whoever redeem this code, you are putting your credit card information under risk.

    • Honestly, learn how most ecommerce sites actually do credit card transactions…

Please note that we do not store or collect card information; all payment-related information is stored in a secure vault by our PCI DSS-compliant security partner

All shopback would get is a confirmation back via an API saying 'yep, payment confirmed' (that's an oversimplification but whatever)

      • +2

Basically you are right. But how about "man in the middle attack". They don't store the credit card information, but your credit card information possibly send through their server. Obviously their server is compromised.

        • +1

There are some options around nowadays, e.g. one time use card from Zip. Yes, a card number that can only be used once.

  • +1

Looks like all the DoorDash cards have been pulled :( annoying I was hoping to get one.

  • Brought a HIM card, enter mobile number, haven't receive the SMS to link the actual digital card. Normally how long it takes to receive it?

    • My exp is it only delivers to the email address.

      • It has two options instore and online. Instore ask for mobile and email, while online ask to choose retailer. I choose instore and saying they will send a SMS and a link to the digital card will be there. Very confuse settings, why can not just email it. Just want to farm more personal details.

And once it's done, looks like I am unable to re send it again. Saying

Sorry you have insufficient balance to proceed

    • Update, received this SMS after 9 hours. Wow, never expect that long.

  • +2

Been burned with purchases not tracked recently, largest one being the recent ebay 10% deal. They always give a generic response about why something didn't track without saying the actual reason.

This and the recent customer data fiasco makes me avoid using them.

  • +1

I used SB accrued cashback credit to pay for my GC. This is a good feature.

  • Has anyone else not received their bonus $10 from shopback's eBay offer? My purchase tracked and it was meant to appear in my account by 30th Oct.

  • Hi Anyone missing OzBargain Exclusive - $2 Bonus Cashback on 14/08/2020??

    • I received that bonus on 29 September. I am still waiting for the $2 bonus from the 27/08/2020 offer which was due yesterday.

      • I got the 27/08/2020 one but not the 14/08/2020 offer.

        • +1

The 14/08/2020 offer was credited a month early, double check and see… go to your earnings; Cashback activity > (status) confirmed > (store) '14Aug20 OzBargain Bonus'.

  • Hey ShopBack, I purchased $30 worth of Kogan 'Giftcards' (3 x $10) thinking these would be actual giftcards. When I added them to my account and went to pay for my $30 purchase it said these are actually vouchers and I can only use one at a time???? Why are you selling these as gift cards when they aren't? I would like a refund for the 2 vouchers I wasn't able to use for my transaction!
