+1 one for "Ozbargain's first salt pig deal" !

  • I'm very salty over this deal.

Google says "A salt pig is a container used to hold salt." 🙄

      Hey kiddo!

        as per the article

You can buy a dedicated salt pig or large salt cellar, or save your money by using an inexpensive plastic or metal container.

        saved almost $8.95/ $38.95- bargain!

    • So you end up with a lump of moist salt!

      • That's never happened to me, are you using salt flakes?

        • A possible issue in high humidity areas. Soggy salt. Reason why I don't use a pig to hold my salt 🐷

      • That's what I want to know too, I could never understand why they design it this way, I think about cockroach can crawl over it, dust and moisture get to it etc. I won't buy whatever the price.

  • Does anyone have any experience with the site?

I’m always a little apprehensive when sites have obvious spelling errors. This site refers to shipping options and charges as ‘shopping options and charges’. Of course this may be the new way to refer to it and I’m too old to get it!

P.S. I’m not keen on the salt pig but other items look interesting!

Yeah they're legit, with physical locations. I used to work across the road from the one in Castle Hill 10 years ago.

I used to visit their store in Town Hall Sydney. Their stuff is quite good and reasonable priced

If it was named "salt cellar" or "salt tub" or "salt container" - It would get my vote.

But someone out there decided one morning "I know, let's call this a salt pig". And that annoys me a bit.

"One claim is that salt pigs are called so because of their typically rounded shape and snout-like opening. The other idea (and the more likely notion, if you ask us) is that the term comes from an old Scottish dialect that refers to nearly any earthenware pot as a “pig."

  • Is pick up in store available?

  • So unlike sugar the salt container does not need to have a lid?

  • Looks like a good price, what does it do?

  • Good for storing kosher salt.

  • Why is it being reported as OOS
