wow, amazing. also, should we wait and expect Zen 2.5 for AMD laptops, the 5000 series?

    • +3

The 4000 laptops are only like 6 months old, so I wouldn't expect the next gen any time soon.

    • -1

The 5000 series is the desktop version of the 4000 series and was originally going to be called the 4000 desktop series. They just jumped to 5000 to neaten it up.

    • there won't be any 5000 series laptops until at least mid 2021

  • +9

Hey TA, any Lenovo Legion deals coming you're aware of?

    • +21

I receive a lot of direct requests for particular machines and it gets a little overwhelming. Would much prefer members commenting their requests here and I’ll try my best to negotiate deals on the highest voted comments :)

      • Make a forum post and enable take suggestions from commenters as people don't always open deals… I guess the same applies for forum posts as well.
Everytime you post a Lenovo deal, link the forum post.
        :)

      • This is dangerously close to an insta-buy for me as someone wanting a Ryzen 4000 series laptop for work…
Would be really keen on a T14 deal if possible!

      • Run a poll. That should take care of business.

      • As always, love your work TA, cheers.

        • long time lurker etc.
      • good work TA.
some people know not much about models, so if a 15" general small business use laptop, any decent brand, 512gb+ SSD, 16gb ram or more come up, with large cashback(handy of laptop for few reasons). i will be interested.

Good price, but dunno why I hate the design.

It looks like it belongs back in 2008

    • +1

Use it for work laptop, agreed! Think it's not the most attractive of designs

    • +2

the design is what makes these laptops perfect as they are sturdy and strong vs other designs that have been out there.

    • -1

      Those bazels kills the deal.

    • the designs looks awesome for professionals/semi professionals

    • The design grew on me and I ended up loving it - except for the bezels . It looks both professional at work and nice on the coffee table at home.

Plus, it has the most comfortable keyboard of any laptop I know. I prefer functionality like that over sleek looks like a Macbook which has IMHO a godawful keyboard (for the haters, I have a Macbook as well).

thinkpads are for people who want to do work, like real work, not vloggers.

out of all the laptop brands we use across different businesses, the thinkpads survive the best and are the most preferred - ruggedness and great typing experience.

      • +1

Yep, This is for people who actually work 8 hours on their lappie daily.

  • Thanks TA

  • +10

Would love another deal on the IdeaPad S540 AMD!

    • +10

If it goes under $1000 for the Ryzen 7 4800U 16GB RAM 512GB SSD model I'm definitely going for it!

      • Agreed … if it goes under 1000 in next 24hrs … i will be running around all over Melbourne chanting for OzB …

          Find someone with above offer

          • @Seven8Nine: Tried to find in my close ones … couldn't get any … 😔… already placed order without amex … still can cancel and order again with amex, if found someone. Shall i post in classifieds and would it be safe for both parties?

            • @ChipsChicky: I have this offer, but in Melbourne.

Not offering for peace of mind, it's kind of hassle to do, involving money as am not interested in $ cuts of any kind

  • is this E14 deal better than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553165 ? spec wise

    • Yes slightly, but that 15.6 inch display vs 14 inch is a pretty big difference for me at least.

I'd have taken the E15 deal for sure over this one.

    • +2

That's an E15 so it's a 15.6 inch laptop. The main differences between the two models are that the E15 is larger, has a Ryzen 4500U (a 6 core CPU vs the 8 core CPU in this model) and also has a fingerprint reader which this does not. Other than those 3 differences, the specs are almost exactly the same. I'd prefer a more compact device with a better CPU so I would rather go for this one.

      • +3

E14 as specced in AU has a full metal chassis as well vs. PC/ABS bottom case for the E15.

  • +2

nice spec, do these overheat like Dells?

  • +3

Hi TA, any deals on 13”? TIA

  • Hi @TA

What do you mean by "last click before purchasing is from this link", should we first add the item to cart in the Lenovo site and then click on the link you provided? Thank you for the deal

  • +1

Just use the link, add to cart and complete the purchase. Dont switch to a different browser/tab etc

    • +1

Thank you, Ships in 5 weeks is the only concern

      • +1

I bought one of these Lenovo deals a few months back and although it estimated 5 weeks it arrived in 3 weeks. I guess 5 weeks is when they're sure it will get to you

        • Oh hopefully that's the case with mine. 5 weeks is forever to get a laptop. Lenovo said the main reason it takes so long to ship out is because it's currently being made in China from scratch instead of it being (ready made). Still with China's speedy labour force, does it really take that long for them to make it?

  • +1

Hey TA, any deals on laptops with Ryzen 4800U? Looking for a 16GB RAM one which has the option of upgrading it down the track. A QHD touchscreen would be nice too (not sure if such a spec exists).

  • Damn it I wanted the Ryzen 7 one but had to buy the Ryzen 5 one because it was out of stock :( still a great deal

  • what does ' 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 + 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200' mean? Is it a 16GB or an 8GB?

    • +1

It has 16GB total. 8GB is soldered to the board and it has one extra slot, which for this model comes populated with an 8GB stick.

    • +1

It means 1x8GB is irremovable and the other one is removable. It is 16GB in total. At least that how I understand it, dont quote me on it…

  • Hey mate, any desktop deals? I’m after a desktop with i7 and 16gb of ram for work (has to be from a name brand)

  • Waiting for Ryzen 9 laptop deal :)

  • Guys which one is better?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/576469

    • +1

Depends on your needs, IMO for overall performance the Thinkpad has a better cpu, although I don't think it would necessarily be significantly noticeable.

The Dell has a much better screen, really thin bezels, IPS, 16:10 and 300nits. The Thinkpad screen in comparison is rubbish at 250 nits.

The Dell also has a Thunderbolt 4 port which may be of use to you if you wanted to connect an external gpu for gaming.

Personally I went with the Dell, that screen is too good to pass up and the specs are really nice along with the thunderbolt port. Watch the review by Just Josh to get an idea of what it looks like and how it performs but keep in mind his review unit is limited to 8gb and i5 processor. One of the issues he raised with it is it only has 1 fan and I think thermal throttling becomes an issue under extremely heavy loads.

      • I have the 2in1 inspiron 13 7306 and it throttles at about 80%CPU/0%GPU. Quite annoying. It even has two exhaust outlets, with one blocked off ¬¬

    • Recently received the Dell laptop. It's very light, has nice screen and very thin bezels. Its aluminium body (instead of plastic) is a big plus for me.

I do notice it gets a little warm when I'm not doing much (only a few tabs opened in chrome) but thermal issues seem pretty common in Dell laptops.

      • Which dell model did you get?

I got the vostro 5490 and yes it does heat up even when idle

        • Dell Inspiron 14 7400, the one linked in kcs30714's comment.

          • @fortunecookie: Noice, very pricy but

            • @Homr: It is, that's why I started looking at other laptops haha, thinking maybe I could return the Dell one :P

              • @fortunecookie: Yes definitely, you can do much better with 1.6k

I think you only got 14 days to return it.

      • When you say 'thermal issue' what temperatures you getting?

  • +1

another decent laptop with a crappy panel from Lenovo
    what's new

  • +1

I think screen brightness is too dim..

    • +7

I keep saying this every time and no one listens.

Lenovo is playing dirty reserving good panels for premium models only, plus making sure it's damn hard to upgrade panel yourself

there's very little difference in price between crappy dim panels and good quality panels. the only purpose of those ridiculous low quality IPS screens is to make laptops feel cheap.

      shame, shame, shame

      • One who is planning to buy need to keep two laptop of similar screen size side by side. You will find how low brightness of this laptop is which makes it sort of useless in many situations.

PS: one can read review or go through tech spec but can't recommend this laptop as apart from all processing, user need to "SEE" whats happening on screen at the end of day.

      • Which models have bright screens?
Even the T series seems to max at 300 unless you go privacy glass.
Think the X1 Carbon has the brightest at 400. Even the X13 is max 300.
Disappointing as I'd really like the build quality.

        • 300 is good. 250 is dim

not only that, it's only 45% NTSC colour reproduction. colors are washed out and lifeless

next to my Dell with a 72% NTSC 300 nit panel this Lenovo has why written all over it

  • +7

Please take note: I have both E15 and E14 Gen2,
The whole package is ok and it feels better than Dell equivalent notebook. BUT the screen is NOT acceptable. It's only equivalent to Dell's level 3 or 4 screen brightness when I put it side by side comparison. It's NOT workable indoor let alone using it at outdoor. It's terrible. It's almost guarantee disappointment unless something wrong with 2 of my notebooks which I purchased a couple of months ago. It's shocking!

    • +1

I absolutely agree with this, see my comment above. and on almost every other E14/15 deal. great laptop let down by crappy panel, and it's done on purpose: to make an otherwise great machine feel cheap.

    • Have you spoken with Lenovo support? Can this machine be return under "screen brightness is not acceptable"?

    • so how do people use this laptop then if the screen is not useable?

  • +2

My E14 was great. Minor comment was Ethernet port has flap that expands when LAN port is connected. But design was not very durable.
My ethernet port flap was broken 3 months into light usage. Lenovo took some time to organize free replacement under warranty (need escalate to higher level for approval). But at the end, agree to sent out whole new bottom casing as replacement under warranty.

I hope this deal comes back…

    .

  • Does this laptop have LTE port inbuilt? Anyone knows any Lenovo laptop with LTE port which is on sale for the same price range as this one?

    Thanks.

  • Looks like it might be sold out? Don't see that configuration anymore.

  • Is the current model gen 7? so this is 5 gen behind?

  • funny how that cpu can compete to a high powered 10750h.

  • Great Deal!

  • Dang that is so much laptop for the money. Fingerprint sensor plus IR camera for windows hello, cracking CPU, decent RAM + Storage. So tempted but I will resist.

    • It would've been awesome if Fingerprint sensor and IR Camera were included in this deal. Unfortunately they are optional extras.

      • Oh i thought they were included and it was common to all E14 Gen 2. Confusing!

    • Shame about the display as I would have jumped on this. I would rather pay $100 more for a brighter display, 250nits ain't bright enough!

  • Received my levono L15 laptop today, feel Great!
I kinda know some posters commented the lenovo's dim display, I can tell, it is not as bright as Dell (I am putting my Dell side by side). For me, I work in the house, it is perfect.
And the speaker is so much better compared to my old Dell I purchased 6 yrs ago lol.

  • one thing to remember is: 14inch laptop doesn't have numerical keyboard, if you are dealing with numbers a lot, then 15.6inch will be more suitable.

  • +3

Everything's great until you get to the dim screen. No wonder it's not included in the specs above.

  • on the Lenovo site, it has the adapter (USB Type-C)- ANZ for 43.50. Isn't that already included?

    • +1

I called support and he said it does come with a 65w Power adapter. They advised people that travel tend to purchase another ?

    • +3

Lol this isn't an iphone, you get a power adapter in the box
