Maybe you should be thinking in this way
"I have been reading more than you do for past 2 years" :)

  • I will buy one today -hoping AUD goes up a little today :)

Note this is for one week only -during black friday sales period. I think (please check for yourself) this will end 26th our time.

  • "Kindle DX, Free 3G, 9.7" E Ink Display, 3G Works Globally cannot be shipped to the selected address."

    :(

    • it definitely ships to australia I already bought one myself

      • That's weird, it's definitely (still) saying it can't ship to my address.

        • Using a PO box? They can ship some stuff to boxes, but some things have to go to your street address.

Alternatively, does your delivery address match your payment (credit card) address?

        • Street address, the same address I've had every one of a dozen Amazon orders shipped to over the years including my Kindle 3.

Aha, here's the reason: you can't buy (directly) from emeraldpiggy's link (the US version), you have to buy the "international" version.

But the widget for selecting a country wasn't showing up in my normal browser (Opera) for some reason so I didn't realise I was trying to buy the US version.

For anyone else who can't select a country, here's the proper link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GYWHTU

  • Once you get your Kindle (or your Kindle software for iOS/Android/WebOS, like some of us mad people with too many devices), keep an eye on http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=10006775…, for the Kindle Daily Deal.

They generally sell books in the daily deal for either $0.99 or $1.99 (USD). Most of the stuff is rubbish (today's book), and I've seen people complain that some of them aren't available internationally (haven't had this problem myself), but there are occasional decent deals. It updates at 7pm AEDT.

  • thanks for posting the deal, i bought one right away for my dad. he've been using the tiny one for like 3 years, time for a upgrade!

  • and thanks LBFT for posting the right link, i was heaps upset using the check out function in the 1st link.

  • this is a great deal indeed, got mine for $300 plus shipping in April (can't complain about the price either)
just keep in mind that it lacks wi-fi, meaning you'll have to use usb connection to upload your own files or pay 99 cents per megabyte if you choose to upload it by sending to [email protected]. also, the browser sucks big time compared to Kindle keyboard's one. BUT if you read a lot of PDFs, kindle dx is a winner

    • hi farethewell, why is the browser worse than kindle keyboard? i thought they were the same… not correct?

      • kindle keyboard on 3.* and kindle dxg on 2.*

        kindle 3 use webkit
        kindle dx is on NetFront

        hope it helps

      • as the other user said their software are just different generations and anyways they both suck at browsing (to a different degree though)

i mostly browse mobile sites or use sweezer.com. gmail works fine on dx. if you have any particular site in mind, i can check for you - got both dx and k3 aka keyboard in the family.
