  • Is this the cheapest they've ever been?

      • Thanks.
        Great headphones btw

        • +3

          351.55 − 7% = $326.9415

        • Really? I actually sent mine back. Great sound & really comfortable but I commute on the train and flip between my phone & ipad (audio when walking, video when sitting). Sony doesn't seem able to cope with this, each device needs to be disconnected for the next one to work. Bose handles this fine… anyone know if they have fixed this? I would switch if it worked.

          • @Yorkshire-Man: Do you mean this for XM3 or XM4?

          • @Yorkshire-Man: That’s the XM3s. Newer version does not have this issue.

            • @tichet18: Great, OK got it. Might well give them a go then! Thanks.

            • @tichet18: MY XM4 have this problem. Can't switch from phone to PC without disconnecting the phone first.

    • Edit: See above ^^

      • Thanks. For some strange reason OB wouldn't let me search

no David Jones was $350.10 I bought it 2 days ago (with existing rewards membership which is free)
I'm punting it may be low $300's sometime this month, but I don't wanna keep waiting

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579920 $350 don't have to wait until tonight.

  • This will be a good new buy but is it worth upgrading from WH-1000XM3? My WH-1000XM3 is still going strong, albeit the inconvenience of multipoint connection not supported

    • I'm in the exact same scenario. I really struggle without the headphones being connected to multiple devices at a time but from what I understand, the other differences aren't too great to constitute buying 'another' pair, essentially.

      • +3

Just to clarify, the WH-1000XM3 don't have multipoint Bluetooth connectivity, but the newer 1000XM4 do

        • Yes.

        • +2

          but no aptx. WHY!!!!!

          • +1

@aimon: Because they changed to MediaTek for their CPU and aptx is Qualcomm tech.

          • @aimon: The problem with aptx is that they don't let you use it with the equaliser app for some reason, so I end up using SBC all the time, or they sound bad

          • @aimon: This is the big reason NOT to buy them if you use these on your PC a lot.

I'd wait for a headset with bluetooth codecs LLAC / LHDC :)

    • +1

i also have the XM3 but i don't see the point in shelling out another 350+ bucks just for multi bluetooth connectivity.

    • Save ya $350 and just do it manually.

    • Like said before, the multipoint feature is good - even though its limited and would connect to my TV when I walk into the living room as there a limit to 2 devices - but I kind of miss my XM3 because the NC didn't generate that hissing noise that the XM4 are doing. No big deal but on a relaxed situation it is

  • +1

It's a real shame the microphone is still trash in XM4 :(

    • Really? Not good for calls?

      • +1

Look at reviews and YouTube videos of microphone comparisons. The microphone is the only flaw of these headphones. They were meant to have been improved on XM4 but apparently still average.
It's obviously subjective but have a look before buying if planning to use heavily for calls or video conferencing.

      • +3

Most people say the mic is okay if you're in a quiet environment, but if there's noise around you, the mic tends to pick it up and amplify it, making it very hard for people to hear your voice

        • Is it with xm4 or xm3 as well? Are xm3 better in call?

    • +1

Microphone works fine for me. No complaints on the other end.

      • Yeah the mic is fine. No issues with me even in light wind. Sure it's not going to be as good as cable but haven't had any complaints from the other person.

      • Mono quality is why it 'sounds like trash'

Sony skimped out on developing a new 2 way stereo bluetooth codec and force people to use archaic HFP / HSP codecs

      • I have no issues with calls as well. I've asked those on the other end what sound is like (having read some complaints), but all have said no problem.

    • +1

Really? dude at work uses the 3, he sounds fine.

    • WFH should be fine - room being somewhat "quiet".

I believe, it is when you are outside (cars, people, wind, etc…) the mic doesn't do well.

    • I've found if I turn off ambient sound control the mic sounds a lot better for someone on the other end when I'm on a call. Don't have as much complaints from the people listening nowadays.

  • Officeworks price match for $333?

        👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Can anybody help with code?

  • Will the coupon be posted on the site, or via email?

    • -2

      Hi what’s the coupon code??
      Had anybody got it?

  • I think AGL Rewards TCN GC is not coming instantly
anyone knows how long it takes to arrive if paying by creditcard?

Last time I pay by bank transfer and the GC comes the 2nd day after purchase
Might have missed the 11% coupon from JB if purchasing the GC today from AGL

Probably safest option is to purchase the GC from Suncorp App
Its 5% discount but comes instantly

  • Nice deal with GC

Stack with this if it hasn’t sold out already: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579721

    • +1

Just note that the Ultimate GC cannot be redeem online
so to stack both offers you need to visit the JB store today / tomorrow

      • +1

Oh really. Good to know. Thanks.

  • Is the Singles Day are targeted thing? Do u have to have an online account with JB HiFi or something?

  • This is the price I paid about two months ago (TGG Commercial) Definitely worth it if you don't already have XM3. Call quality is OK, not great!

  • oh man go for this or wait until black friday sales..

    • +1

Get this and keep it sealed and at worst return?

  • +2

After using the WH-1000XM3s for 2 years and being delighted with them, it seemed low risk to upgrade to the XM4s and get basically the same headphones but with better ANC and multi-device support.

While they seem like an incremental upgrade in every way (and worked great for a little while), I had major problems with static/crackling coming from the right earphone after a few hours of use. I returned that pair and received a new pair super fast (fantastic customer service as usual). However, after a few days the replacement pair developed the same issue!

After some research I found that apparently it's to do with condensation building up in the ear cup and interfering with the ANC, which is not properly insulated (wtf sony). The problem seems a bit too widespread for comfort, and coupled with my anecdotal evidence, this is deal breaker for me a RRP $449 pair of headphones. Won't be trying a third pair.

  • Does anyone else have a problem with the touch/swipe controls? I had the M3s for a couple of months and it was so inconsistent, constantly swiping and tapping with mixed results. Swapped back to my Bose for this reason, the buttons work way better for me. Was a shame because the Sony's sounded better.

    • I got mixed results as well and I hate the sound of taping on something that's attached to my ear that's why I only use the controls on the connected device.

    • I don't have any major issues with the controls on my XM3. Very occasionally, the orientation of my swipes might be a bit off so I end up skipping to the next track when I'm trying to increase the volume. More often, my double taps to pause/play are sometimes not recognised. I tend to double tap too quickly, like double clicking a mouse button. The headphones prefer the taps a bit slower, like ½ second between each tap, so I need to consciously make them two distinct taps.

  • I currently have XM2 is it worth upgrading to XM4? Main reason being USB C.

  • For anyone about to buy Union Shopper 7% off gift cards, I recommend trying their 'Electrical Purchasing Service' first. They got back to me in a few hours quoting $329 pickup (+$10 delivery) apparently using JB Commercial so I'm going to give that a go

  • Union shopper JB Hifi gift cards are only 5% off. How do you get the 7% off deal?

    • +1

7% off Him, Her, Kids and Home eGift Cards

  • Picked these up this morning from this deal. Very good headphones. Sony just seem to know how to provide a good user experience for their headphones, and the noise cancelling is 10 fold better than my WH-CH700N's

  • Bought today and price matched with Amazon price of 349.20. After coupon and extra 5% from suncorp was $295.25
