NVIDIA TV Shield Pro 2019 $318 @ Harvey Norman

250

Most powerful Android box, doesn't go on sale very often.
been looking for special price but couldn't find
by far this is the best price & I got for $315 from Goodguys price match, unfortunately Officeworks doesn't stock this otherwise it could get extra 5% off with price beat, best of luck

Great price, I've been using mine for a month now and love it.

Purchased it to use as a Plex server which has been solid performance once set up. Love having all the streaming/catchup apps UI is good and having Chromecast. My plan was just connect to my Router, but I've added it to the main TV.

Been in the AppleTV-iTunes Home Sharing camp for the past 13 years, but got fed up with the spotty connectivity btw iMac-AppleTV and user interface changes affecting Home Sharing.

    • I have 2017 model and still agree it's a great box.

Curious where you have your plex media? On usb connected drive or somewhere on network.? I find I sometimes a little too often have to restart it as it can't be found on network, and the shield can't see the media connected to local USB drive.

Trying to work out best solution.

      • Hi, yeah using a connected USB drive. I had a little trouble at the start using an old HDD to test while i waited for a new HDD to arrive. The Shield Plex server stops working if you remove a HDD. But once i removed the old HDD filepaths in my Plex library it worked (shame there was no feedback from plex about missing library filepaths).

I do find i need to 'wake' the unit for the connected HDD to be seen on my network to move files. No issue with playing media already in Plex. No need to wake to play media on Plex on any other device, just to move files.

    Cheapest it's been was $295

  • I loaded the new Google TV UI on mine & I've had no issues so far. You do need to install the search hack so the search function works.

    So much cleaner IMO.
