I don't buy all of Apple's marketing hype but the new M1 Macbooks look like they're far faster, better battery and ditch the fan. You'd be dumb to pay this price tbh

    • This is a lemon compared to the new M1 Macbook.

The dual core was pretty awful to begin with

Agree with Merlict, I think the life span of these macs will be pretty short as they're abandoned my apple soon and replaced with their new laptops.

    • 23 months to be exact.

    • +1 Agreed

The ARM MacBooks just got released and you can get them for $1410 from the apple education store. This is just an attempt to get rid of old MacBooks. The new ARM ones are way more efficient and so much faster. Don't fall into this trap.
Also these MacBook airs have a massive overheating problem and they get really hot as the fan isn't on the CPU so the ARM Macs should solve that.

  • Not a deal

    • Agreed, This is a ripoff

  • It will be interesting to watch as most software won't be compatible with ARM architecture on these Macbooks.

    • Nah losing backwards compatibility would be suicide, Rosetta Stone basically translates all x86 code for you.

I'm sure there will be some problems / performance loss but most stuff should work without an update.

  • This Lenovo laptop is $300 cheaper and blows this out of the water. The Apple feel and the 2560 x 1600 display is the only advantage and but then it cuts down the battery life. Good deal, poor value. But then again, that goes for most Apple products.

The repulsive display on the cheap Lenovos is a dealbreaker to me.

      • +1

+1 on the cheap Lenovo screens. I had one for 3 days before I sold it and bought a MBP (very different price points but my god it’s worth it).

The Lenovo was shocking. The screen was dull in every situation even with the brightness maximised. The display wasn’t sharp and it was just a shockingly poor experience.

        • No work around for a bad screen.

  • For what it's worth, JB have reduced it to $1349 + del or free CC
