I’ll avoid the first gen, it has a known issue where the battery continues to drain in the case. Look at the second gen where the issue is fixed.

    • +1

That was due to never entering standby.
Afaik it wasnt a physical issue, as the re-charging was never faulty.
Has it not been patched by firmware?

      Genuinely curious.

      • +1

No, I have the first gen and it's still an issue.

    • For what it's worth, this original version supports aptx low latency, while aptx LL is apparently not supported in version 2.

  • So these work independently from each other? As in can I swap earbuds left and right while the other is charging?

Don't bother buying these. The battery drain issue is unacceptable on such an expensive pair of earphones. I end up using a cheapie pair instead asmost of the time the Sennheiser end up not being charged when you try to use them.

They sound great but the competition has caught up massively in the past 2 years.

Oh to answer your question, no. Right is master and left is the slave. So you can use right one independently.

      • Thanks for the reply. Definitely won't be getting them now.

Not easy to find a pair that doesn't have the master/slave system. I like to listen one at a time and charge the other.

        • Don't you like stereo sound, or are you using them for something other than music/video?

          • +4

@Lps: When working, I need to have one ear open. So it helps having one side charge while using the other.

        • +1

Soundpeats will probably be the brand for you :)

        • You can try creative outlier air and urbanista athens. Both amazing true wireless earphones. They work independently of each other buds.

      • +2

Didn't know this master slave was a thing. I have been using my ~$30 QCY left right and centre without any issue. Phone quality is terrible but music is okay.

I have this and I must say that they never bothered to fix the battery draining issue. If I fully charge the earphones and leave them on the case without using for 3 days, the battery will be zero and you have to recharge them to use.

Sound quality is amazing, the connection is amazing. The problem is only with the battery. I do not recommend this.

That battery drain feature is quite well engineered. Its a built-in feature that stop battery degradation by basically putting degraded battery in first place.

      • +4

So that's where all those ford engineers ended up

I'm so glad I saved myself some time looking at reviews, the comments above says it all.

It's a good product for free and if you wanted to access the Herald Sun/Daily Telegraph/Courier/other News Ltd tabloid mastheads.

However, my first set were DOA, and my second set are a bit wonky already.

I probably wouldn't pay for them.

  • Great commets received and waiting for the next Gen.

  • I picked up a pair a while back at the $250 price. Nothing new here but just to reiterate:

    1. Sound quality is actually great but you absolutely must download the app and adjust the EQ as the factory mix is rubbish
    2. The battery drains often as the device remains connected for some annoying reason when in the case (you can mitigate this sometimes by disconnecting and reconnecting BT on your phone)
    3. Often one earphone doesn't work well before the other

I hear for sound quality the Cambridge Audio Melomania are great https://www.cambridgeaudio.com/row/en/products/melomania-1 but hard to find in Australia and fit described as not great. I have a CA BT speaker and if that's anything to go by it's frigging excellent.

    • Wait how much of a fix is this bt disconnect trick? because that could technically make this worth it no?

      • I’d call it a partial fix at best mate

These comments show well the double benefit of OzB! It's not only a place to find great deals, but also to discover (like in this case) when a "great deal" isn't a great deal after all! Thanks OzB community!

  • I own the momentum v2.
Sound quality great, i dont touch the equaliser as i didnt like the equaliser they provide on the app.
It takes a few days to break in, but they are great.
    No battery draining issue also.
These were on sale for $400 at Bing Lee, 20% off.
I had a bday voucher lying around and copped them for $350. Worthy purchase.
I replaced the Bose soundsports free, the momentums were a noticebale jump up in quality, the bose also had battery draining issues.
Skip momentum v1, try and get v2 on sale.

    • How is the microphone? FYI Gen 1 is really bad.

      • I dont use them for calls much. So it isnt a deal breaker if the calls quality is bad.
Maybe someone else with a v2 can elaborate

        • I personally haven't had any complaints with call. Sounds quality is best in True Wireless (Nothing touches it), call quality is great. Love them. best I've owned.

  • This is a good price for v1. I got mine for $300 odd a year or two ago and don't regret it.

Yes, the battery does drain while in the case, but the sound quality is freaking awesome. I don't find the need to do any EQ on them - it might depend on your style of music.

I get good feedback from others who I am on voice calls with - they seem pretty good for that too.

But alas, I would not rely on them as my only pair of earphones/headphones, as if they are flat, you're stuffed.

    • Have you tried playing with EQ - recommend if you haven’t

See so many bad reviews.. got some Huawei free buds with my phone for free and they work great connect easy to BT good sound quality!

  • Got to sign up to leave this comment but to me if this ear bud come with the spin fit 360 tip, it gonna be even worthier than the Sony XM3 which I had already returned after got it for a week.

  • +1

I've got these and they're terrible. Can't compare to a decent pair of wired iems in terms of sound quality. Pretty large in ear profile. Battery and connectivity issues.

    • Agreed - these are crap. battery life terrible. too big. fall out of your ear. A rip off! got mine via news limited give away and disgusted with the product- avoid big time

  • +1

Jabra elite 25e also has this drain problem. It's ridiculous of sennheiser to try to keep selling them. More irritating is trying to sell it at RRP $499 completely aware of this issue.

    • They are not listening to us…maybe their product has gone flat.

  • Down to $149.99 now. The battery drain sucks, but I own the 1000XM3s, Jabras and others, and this is still probably the best sound out of all of them.
