Nvidia RTX 3090 US$1499 + US$275-$292 Delivery (Total ~A$2550) @ BigAppleBuddy

210

I'm still looking for RTX 3080 FE. Noticed RTX 3090 is available at BigAppleBuddy. I went up to check out page and total comes to roughly @USD 1841 or @ AUD 2550.

Not a bad deal given Mwave RRP is $2429 and hasn't been in stock since launch.

Mod Note: Import tax may apply as item is over A$1000.

Unless you have an 8k display, it may be better to wait for 6900XT reviews.

    • +1

      I don't even think a 3090 can even hit 240hz at 4K max setting https://www.ozarc.games/nvidia-rtx-3090-vs-3080/

So still a while for GPU to catch up to 8K unless you are playing in super low refresh rate.

      • +1

It can hit 8k/60 in certain games like Doom Eternal, it's never a good idea to use "Max/ Ultra" settings for everything in any case since they usually provide next to no visual benefit over Very High, with a few exceptions like textures.

        • *with DLSS

          • @brimmy11: Doom Etetnal does not have DLSS, please, before you correct someone be sure you actually know what you're talking about..

            • @Vinodra: Ah sorry, that's the only game that it can play at 8K without DLSS.

              • @brimmy11: I think the RTX 3090 is a scam, but that isn't true lol. Older games exist.

      • It cant, struggle to even get 60fps in watch dogs. Performance much better with ray tracing off tho

      • While you've already been explained as to why that's not true, there's also no 4k 240Hz monitor to plug it into.

      • Pretty sure maximum data rate is 4k 120hz or 8k 60hz anyway.

Don't forget you'll have to pay an import tax, since it over A$1000.

      • +5

Import tax is paid at the border. So if the seller doesn't charge you/collect on your behalf, then you're going to have issues.

      • +19

You may get slugged by Customs when it gets imported. They will use the commercial invoice to calculate it off. Unless they do a false customs declaration which pushes the $$$ under $1000. Not only do you pay GST 10% but you will pay duties which I usually factor in +$100 on top.

You can try to argue with them once you get slugged with GST and Duties and try to get the seller to reimburse, but YMMV.

Also with 0 savings, why not just wait until Australia Gets stock, at least you will have Australian Warranty for any issues.

I heard from reddit that those who bought 3080's got away with it, 3090's all didnt.

        • Possibly it was all te stock Australia supposed to receive, all sold out, we can buy only 3rd party cards. But after paying GST and Duties, it does not worth it, would buy local instead.

        • I bought this same item though them a few weeks ago. Paid the following on GST + Delivery Fee:

          Border Charges/Fees applicable:
          DUTY $ 0
          GST $ 220.73
          ENTRY FEE $ 88
          TOTAL $ 308.73

It made it from NYC to SYD in 4 days. YMMV but to me this is a good deal for an FE card than looks like it won’t be sold officially in Australia going forward.

          • @kior22: Also adding that FedEx won’t release the item until this is paid. Hope it helps. Cheers

      • lol no

  • +6

Mwave only stocked that first raffle batch. Nvidia said they weren't selling their FE cards in Australia which is why no one else has sold/will sell more.

geez.. good to know.. i have been refreshing their page several times a day, everyday!!

        That’s the ozbargain spirit!

  • This should be $100-150 delivery max. Unless they're also covering duties and taxes included

Shipping costs more than my computer lol

    AMD YES!!!

    • great option for those cant afford it. yes

this is where buying the new consoles make sense

    • But mine won't arrive till next year (only managed to be on 2021 pre-order batch).

    • You don't need a 3090 to get graphics of the same quality of ps5/xboxx.

      • +3

ps5/xbox gpu isnt even half as good as 3090 loool

        • loool

    • -4

As I have pointed out for many years now….

    • Hardly a fair argument since this is the best GPU which is marketed for the few with the money and willingness to spend it.
This graphics card costs more than most will spend on an entire setup

2070 Super would be a much closer equivalent. These are big boys toys.

If you can wait, then nvidia will be releasing a 3080ti likely at $999 USD to compete with the radeon 6900xt. If only gaming then both of those options are likely a much better deal than the 3090.
The last rumours I've seen suggest 20GB of vram for the 3080ti (it is possible that it'll be released with a different configuration). But it seems like there will be very few applications/situations where the 3090 would be worth $500 usd extra.

    • Wasn't MSRP for 3090 founders $1200?

EDIT: i just realised you were referring to this sellers price not MSRP. My bad.

      • maybe 1200 usd. i think the 3080 msrp is like 1200 aud

      • the msrp for 3090 founders is $1500 USD, so I was referring to both this sellers price and the 3090 in general. Not sure where you got the $1200 idea from, maybe because that's the price the 2080ti settled to?

  • i would be interested to know what ends up happening in regards to 10% GST applied by customs. You should update us once you find out!

Oh man, OzRRP has now been upgraded to OzAboveRRP

    • +1

OzB is run on Nvidia GPU servers… using Apple Silicon and optimized by Nintendo Switch .. =P

  • For some reason, 3090 is widely available in most of computer stores. The cheapest available now is 2749.

  • 3090 is widely available because:
    1. Less ppl are willing to pay double for +10% performance for double the cost
    2. AMD offering around the corner and rumoured to be competitive on performance and cost
    3. Nvidia is prob pumping the volume on 3090s because they are able to make wayyyy bigger margins.

    • 3090 is widely available because:

Not all models, only the less popular ones seem to be in stock.

  • What if you use shipping forwarders? Wouldn't it potentially bring it to around 2.2k? And may not need to pay customs depending on how you dress it up.

  • It's getting so silly that soon companies will be taking pre-orders a generation ahead. People won't learn to keep their money in their pocket until the product is available until they've been bitten.

  • I highly doubt Nvidia will be making more of these … so if you want one that is specifically FE then this is your best bet .. otherwise it'll have to be an AIB model.. :) you never know they may become collectors items one day .. haha

  • People said the 2080ti was too expensive at launch so I really didn't expect them to go even bigger with the 3000 series…

  • +1

$2600 + 15% tax and customs/duties fee over $1000 and No warranty. How is this a (profanity) deal.

    • Its a deal, because there is no other way to get it for less. The real rrp was bullshit by nvidia.

      • +1

3090 is no deal either way you look at it, scam of a card after AMD announced their 6000 series. Just wait for 3080Ti.

  • Awful value card, but what's the bet a freight forwarder would be vastly cheaper than this.

  • Everyone is going to buy AMD GPUs so it's going to be just as impossible to buy a 6800xt.
