Been as low as $138.60 in the past and PLENTY of times at the ~$140-$150 mark.

      Thx, will wait

      • Me too

      • +10

Don't need to let me know that you're waiting

        • +1

          I'm not waiting

          • +3

@maruko: I will probably wait. Not 100 percent sure. Keep refreshing and I will post my decision hopefully later today. Maybe…

    • Like two years ago.

It sure is wait 2 years so save $50 if I needed one (which I do)

5 months ago it was more than $15 cheaper AND that included FREE delivery.
Not saying it's not a decentish price. But bargain? Possibly not. I have one. No way I'd pay $200 personally.

      • I imagine you'd expect more vacuum for less price 2 years on.

    • +1

I haven't seen it go any where near that price in over a year.

      • Pretty sure I saw it on SCA for close to $169 this year.

      • +3

When I checked price hipster it looked like the price has gone up in recent years with no recent repeat of true ~$150 discounted price

    • +1

I’ve been eyeing this off for a few months waiting for a sale. I’d suggest buying it now you want it!

  • Suggest grab it now if you need one as is usually promoted at around the $180 mark now. There is also a mum's facebook group that goes nuts over these so can go quickly when on promo.

  • +11

    I was disappointed with this…
It's equivalent to spraying on detergent and then sucking it up. You could accomplish the same with a spray bottle and a wet vac—and get a lot more suction power.
I suppose this is a bit more portable.

    • +5

Isn’t that what It’s advertised to do though?

    • +1

You are indeed correct. I had carpet cleaner before and the way the machine is designed means the solution is sprayed then sucked up within 2 seconds. Just not enough dwell time. So I ended up using a spray bottle and just the wet vacuum function as you said.

      • +1

Isn’t the difference and benefit of this the size , ie able to get into smaller spaces like around car seats and sofas ?

      • +1

It's only going to suck it up if you've got it on the surface. I spray it above the surface, let it dwell and then use the brush to agitate and remove the product.

  • +8

"without the hassle of having to store one!"

if you buy this do they store it for you?

    • +3

Now that’s value - as long as they also do the pick up and drop off as required.

      • +3

almost like hiring a professional carpet cleaning team?

        • +1

          Bissell shampooer

          professional carpet cleaning team

…do they just call them "pooers" for short?

          • @Kangal: No…its "BS" for short, lol! In fact there's a few of them so it's a bunch of BS!

  • +4

Bought one, then sold it 4 weeks later. These are such a hassle unless you want it for pets or something. They don't have rotating bristles, so all the scrubbing is through your own elbow grease. They don't keep the water hot, just barely provide heat through the motor vent. Honestly don't understand the appeal of such a massive unit that's no different to a wet vac (with lower suction). The spray being on the hose is convenient but you're also lugging the tank with a power cord and can't use stronger carpet solutions.

I got the cordless model and didn't notice much difference in suction power but the weight difference and convenience can't be beat. Of course YMMV…

I think you are not the targeted audience for this particular carpet cleaner. If you have ANY need to clean a decent size carpet, you will be better off with the Bissell Proheat revolution upright carpet cleaner which is around $400-500 mark. This one is really just for people who need to clean upholstery, auto interior and very small carpets only.

      • I was thinking if I should get this or rent one from woolies…. I guess I got my answer

        • Well I guess getting this one for emergencies (esp if you have young kids/pets) and renting the rug doctor for periodic carpet cleaning is also an option. Just dont count on this alone to clean carpeted rooms.

That said, I think getting a shopvac for emergencies is a more economic and versatile choice. I used my shopvac a lot when our kids were little as they drop all kinda of foods on the floor and the Bissell crosswave max wasnt a thing back then.

          • @truetypezk: I have one. I use my shopvac. The other thing not mentioned is that the tubes are short so you need to keep the unit close and it's bloody loud.

Hot water in a garden spray bottle, a $3 brush from Colesworth and a shopvac do a much better job.

        • Rent it from Bunnings if doing a large job, they have a million accessories and their rent rates are cheaper.

    • +1

This is for patch cleaning. Like if you spill some wine, or cleaning up pet pee. It's very convenient and works a treat.

  • With Black Friday sales coming up shortly, do you think it is worth to wait for other like Bing Lee and other stores to go on sale?

    • +1

It will be cheaper even at SCA then.

  • +2

Non auto version on good guys commercial $179 standard price

    • +1

Is that a good comparison? You get 1 less cleaning head and from my limited knowledge of GGC you have to pay shipping of about $30 as there isn't a pickup option which makes it more expensive with one less tool. Happy to be proven wrong about the shipping if pickup is available

      • Pickup is available.

  • Heh. Pooer.

  • Any recommendation of a DIY cleaning solution/cocktail for it?

    • I've been using standard washing laundry detergent (liquid type) to remove pretty much everything from pretty much every fabric - it works great.

    • +2

20-30ml of Bowden's Orange Agent in the tank and use their Fabra Cadabra spray prior to wetting it. Works heaps better than the supplied Bissell stuff.
See here can pick up both products for under $25 during a sale like Repco's recent 30% off and will last a fair while.

      • Thank you.

Completely satisfied with this product as it designed for. (If you follow instructions and apply it for Spot cleaning)

Reading the comments and SMH. I'd have to say the disappointment comes from user error and expectation this is a deep carpet cleaner.
Its in fact, a "spot cleaner" as stated. i.e. its for use on small areas with portability in mind and not a deep cleaner with agitating motor head.

Things I found out from use. Dont spray and extract the cleaning solution right away. Thats not what the manual tells you to do.. read it.
Spray the solution + Oxy mix and let it soak in the fabric for 5-6 mins. Then extract the dirt and solution.
I also use fresh water on 2nd pass to rinse out any left over solution.

Also about this being traded on "mum groups". I bought it for cleaning / detailing car interiors.
But its seen more action on the kid vomit and pee front than for detailing cars.
Its my wifes now, and its permanently in the cupboard vs the garage.

    • I also bought it for car interiors, specifically, for cleaning the seats. All of them, rather than spots on them, so maybe that's the difference. I had no expectation that the unit would be a deep carpet cleaner. I actually have no carpet in my house.

The containment system is too small.
It does not heat the water.
The hose is far too short.
      It is bloody loud.

The tools on the end of the hose - I like. They're well made and work well. But I can 3D print my own.

Again, it does nothing that I can't do better with a wet and dry vacuum and a spray bottle - and this approach won't damage your hearing, nor leave you feeling like a contortionist try to wrangle the unit and the too-short hose so you can get into the hard to reach areas. It's also cheaper.

      • Seems like you chose the wrong model. There is a Spot Clean Turbo for about $350 that has those features. Larger tank / Pro heat / longer hose option.
except motor is even louder with two of them.

The containment system is too small.
It does not heat the water.
The hose is far too short.
        It is bloody loud.

About the spray bottle and dry/vac. I use to use roll out my dry/wet Bosch GAS 35 + back pack sprayer. Took me about 15 mins set up. Lug them around and another 20 to clean and pack / store. It did have better suction, by the for the portability tight spots. Cant beat the unit in this post.

Any recommendations on if this is good for cleaning sofas ? That’s my primary use as our light coloured fabric sofas get dirty quite easily

    • Says can be used on sofas. Haven't tried it honestly.

    • Check on the sofa….mine says "professional cleaning only, do not wet" on the cushions so I'm hesitant to use it but should be fine on rest.
I've cleaned the kid's mattresses and stuff with it no worries.

  • Will this do a decent job on a couch? Ours is only 12 months old but looks like it's been through a battleground.

    • +1

Look at reviews online for this item. It is designed to clean car seats so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a couch. As per previous comment also better check for any warning labels on the couch (if there are any) prior to use.

      • Yep, i have done since. Thanks 👍

  • I have one of these, and they're pretty good. You could also try and have Officeworks beat it by 5%
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/bissell-ca… which would save you another $10.
