thanks OP, best use seems to be some random toy for the kiddos from Auspost
edit: I wonder if you could use it to buy a $20 gift card from auspost lol

  • +1

If I'm not mistaking it's a $20 digital Mastercard which could mean that it could be used everywhere.

  • It's a small mall: seems like the only places that would sell something <$20 would be AU Post or Asics.

    • +4

Pretty sure a part of their cunning plan here is to put $20 in your wallet so you head to your local and maybe put it toward something more expensive and buy lunch while you're there.

  • Got one thanks OP.

    • +4

I wouldn't say you have one till its activated .
You have a lot to learn !

      • +1

Went into the draw, thanks OP

        • +4

I wouldn't say you went into the draw until you receive confirmation
You have a lot to learn!

I won a $100 one on a facebook promotion, went in to center management at the Strand twice to collect it and got turned away both times, emails etc got nowhere. Probably not worth the hassle for $20. I never got the voucher.

    • Gift card issued by TCN. Might not be so bad this time?

      • +3

Still a sour enough taste left for me to never go back.

        • -1

I can have your one if you like.

    • It’s added to your Apple Pay so just be ok.

  • any idea if/when these expire?

For those who are unsure about giving away your personal details, I have 'sacrificed' myself for the greater good… I received the following email (I'll leave it up to you to judge whether you want to sign up):

Your $20 gift voucher is on its way to you!

Your gift voucher will be delivered via SMS to the mobile number you registered with, within the next 48 hours.

You can spend your $20 gift voucher at any The Strand Melbourne retailer that accepts EFTPOS.

Come Get that City FEELIN' we've all been missing.

    REDEEMING YOUR VOUCHER

    1. Open the SMS that will come from 'The Card Network'.

    2. Click on the link within the SMS.

    4. To activate the TCN gift voucher, you will need to verify it via text message. Follow the prompts to receive the confirmation code via SMS, and enter it when asked.

    5. Your gift card will now display within the TCN App.

    6. In order to use the gift card, you will now need to add it to your device's mobile wallet, alongside other saved cards and tickets.

7.. You are now ready to go! The downloaded voucher has 'tap & go' functionality for use in-store. When you are ready to spend your The Strand Melbourne gift voucher, navigate to your digital wallet, and use the card to pay at the terminal.

    • All looks legit to me. Does anyone see any issues?

      • +3

A lot of effort and mucking around for $20 voucher

      • Yes, too much trouble, why just give me a link for it.

    • +3

Thank you for your sacrifice. We won't forget.

  • So this is just a $20 prepaid mastercard that can be used anywhere?

    • Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

    • I'm getting confused too. brotherfranciz's post says that it can be used at any The Strand Melbourne retailer that accepts EFTPOS. That's in the city right?

      • I've one something similar for a shopping centre in Perth and it had EFTPOS on it and I was able to use it anywhere. So I'm hoping this is the same.

  • SMS activation seems fubar

  • +1

    Website is dead haha.

  • +4

These vouchers are intended to boost local retail as we exit COVID.
Not sure an army of Ozbargainers natiowide claiming them is going to help these struggling retailers…

    • +3

got 1 for my local shop, will definitely go down and get some beers with it

  • Yeah. I thought I share this around so ozbargain community can shore up their local business. That's why I said in the post not to abuse this.
Especially, if you don't intend to shop there.

    • Yep, I only got ONE voucher for the City which is where I often am. Will be sure to use it at a local retailer too.

  • -3

    Did someone say KFC?

  • I think they ran out?

  • -1

Cheers OP, got one for me, the missus, and the old man for Lilydale.

Only time I ever get Nando's is when I get free Nando's.

  • Missed out :(

  • +1

    I think it's been ozbargained.

  • +1

We’re really sorry, all our gift cards have now been issued. You may have missed out this time, but keep an eye on your inbox for more chances to WIN!

  • Thanks OP! Got one at my local :)

  • +1

Just tried to download the tcn app to android in preparation for my SMS (fingers crossed) and yup the bad app reviews are right… app seems impossible to use or register for? This may be not a good experience. Oh well

  • So how long do we have wait till it comes?

    • +1

      that's what he said…

  • "We’re really sorry, all our gift cards have now been issued. You may have missed out this time, but keep an eye on your inbox for more chances to WIN!"

  • +1

If any non-melbournian redeemed the gift card but have no use for it, feel free to PM to me. Would love to support my local

    • Why are people downvoting this? If you arn't from Melbourne, chances are you won't use it. Might as well give it to someone so they can make use of it

      • +1

Banking on the fact that these giftcards card be used everywhere.

  • OOS @ Camberwell Place as well.

  • Please don't abuse this deal since it is only 15,000 available.

Well, this place lives to abuse things, so…

    • It was actually only 1500

      • My bad. Add too many zeroes.

    • +1

I disagree. you can take advantage of a deal and not abuse it.
If deals get abused, company won't repeat the offer. It maybe a short term gain for few people but in a long run everyone missed out.

      • Of course, but that sort of thinking isn't all that common around here.

      • +1

No offence but if you didn’t know OZB is the #1 place for the burner squad I’d give up the game OP :)
BTW they just do it not comment like some wanna in this thread lol .

  • Had a chance to grab a Lilydale marketplace one but lol you literally can't give me $20 to go there

    • Lilydale Marketplace would be a lot better tbh, but I'll take a few free pizzas or burgers.

    • +2

There’s plenty of deals happening in the parks there, all non legal

  • +2

Anyone else not being able to log in through the app? Never getting the code when entering my phone number.

  • Anyone got the sms yet?

    • +1

      nope

  • I got my SMS and was able to download the card with no issues. It looks like a MasterCard but can't be used online

    • I wonder if they have somehow locked it to the specified retailers ?

    • Buy an eBay/ Amazon GC from Woolies in-store?

      • +1

I'll probably just use it at any retailer that takes PayPass and buy myself lunch at work!

  • Tried using this card at JB Hi Fi (not within the allocated shopping centers) and it worked

    • Exactly what I suspected.

  • Also Camberwell village link is back working

  • +3

still have not received sms. anyone in same boat?

    • +1

      Yeah haven't got anything

    • +1

      No SMS yet

    • I received the email 16th Nov 3:08pm. Still haven't gotten the sms yet as well

    • I emailed Camberwell about it and received this reply:
"We have investigated, and we are unable to provide you with a gift card as you were not part of the database when the campaign commenced.

The mechanic behind our campaign is to reward our existing database members and as per our terms and conditions, you unfortunately do not qualify. Only those who received the original email invitation to update details will receive their $20 gift card.

Good news is you are in our database now and will be able to enter future competitions. Please let us know if you have any questions."

      • Disappointing, nothing in T&Cs about that

        • +2

Yeah, I was a little confused that in the confirmation email it said "Thanks for updating your details and staying in touch", I guess the link wasn't supposed to be shared around to the wider public but it should've still clarified in the T&Cs (or just denied email addresses that weren't already in the database).

I imagine all these ineligible/unclaimed cards are why the Camberwell form has reopened

      • So that sounds like nobody will get it unless already a member.
I thought it was some kind of promo to draw people back after Covid.
        Oh well…

      • I have already subscribed to their newsletter before the promotion but still no sms.

    • +1

Still nothing, and wasn't even able to login to the TCN app…

  • +1

    No sms

  • Just received sms from Showground Village.

    • Were you already a member there?

      • Nope

        • Hmm that's interesting so they are not necessarily doing what Camberwell says above.

  • It could be first come first serve as I registered as soon as I saw the link.

  • nothing yet from lilydale, so i sent off an enquiry email. My original email said

Congratulations, you’ve bagged yourself a $20 gift card to spend at Lilydale Village.
Thanks for updating your details and staying in touch. You were one of the lucky few to beat the buzzer and get yourself a $20 gift card.

edit: after checking Ts & Cs I am doubtful this $20 card will be sent

"Claims are only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over who are a
current email subscriber of the Promoter for Lilydale Village database and
receive an email directly from Lilydale Village regarding this promotion
    (“Promotional eDM”)."

  • +2

i replied to the strand email re this and get the same answer

"We have investigated, and we are unable to provide you with a gift card as you were not part of the database when the campaign commenced.

    Lol… so it's TARGETTED deal..

  • Anyone end up having any luck who weren't originally subscribed?
