kogan and catch connect still come out cheaper though

        • The annual ones you mean??

          • +2

            @singingwolf: no, 3 months $15 ones

            • @kehuehue: is this a deal for new customers? don't seem to find it on their websites.

              • @ozbargainabc: hmm, i take back my comment on catch connect's offer. kogan though is still available for 3 months 15$, new customers only (28d 'cooling period' if you just got off kogan)

                  @kehuehue:

    Upvote for no MALARKEY

  • Is this a prepaid or postpaid plan?

    • +7

"subscription" which is a fancy word for prepaid with auto recharge

  • I am tempted by this plan.

I would have to live without vilte, volte and RCS, but I think I could manage.

    • +5

      Yep

      No VoLTE
      No VoWifi
      No Roaming
      No eSim
      No International SMS
No International calls (except to the included 15 countries)
      No 5G

All of this missing from a so called "digital only" brand.

      • +1

The plan includes unlimited international SMS and calls to 15 countries (mobiles and landlines).

  • +2

Gomo is Optus' budget brand like Telstra to Belong, though the $25 plan is less attractive.

    • +2

yeah they've had it in other markets as well. it's essentially $51 for 6 months initially. so $8.50 per month for 6 months. If you stay on for a year, it works out to be $16.75 per month.

    • +1

Yeah, also it's only 18gb (why not 20?), not so much of a bargain with $25. I'll probably bite if it's 25gb for $18.

  • +1

Any idea if you can receive texts whilst overseas (eg. for Aussie bank OTPs)?

    • +1

Nope there is no roaming on this service.

  • +1

Anyone knows if this include international SMS as I don't see it anywhere?

    • +1

I don't think it does because the CIS only mentions calls and not SMS to international numbers.

  • How long before this sim must be activated?

    • +2

Activate your first subscription by 28/02/2021 (under T&C's at bottom of page)

      • +1

This differs from the T&C's just 6 lines below that which says:

Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion, whichever is earliest.

      • +1

Seems to contradict itself in those T&Cs…
"Activate your first subscription by 28/02/2021."
        and further down…
"Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion, whichever is earliest."
Needs to be clarified. Ordered one, dont need until end of Dec will find out then :-)

        • +1

Pre-Order: $25 SIM for $1. New customers only. $25 SIM price will apply at end of offer. Offer ends 22/11/20. $25 subscription required to activate. $25 Subscription gives you 18GB Standard data. $25 every 30 days. Available to first 5,000 SIMs purchased online only. Limit one per customer. Activate via the Gomo Australia app from 23/11/2020.

          Yeah, it's confusing.

          • +2

@kururii: Nothing in that quote refers to "when" the sim must be activated by, only activate "from".

        • +2

My understanding is that it's going to be 28/02/2021, because it says "OR by the date of advertised on a promotion", which is 28/02/2021 in this case. Hmm…

          • +3

@jezza p: I'm going to take it as 28/2 as i won't need it until end of Dec. Anyway, it's only one buck!

  • Now I am not GOMOphobic… But the name could be a bit better…

  • +1

There's no option to manually enter my address, and the address finder can't find my address either - looks like I'll skip this one.

  • +1

Is Amaysim to Gomo considered a new customer?

  • When does this need to be activated by?

    • +2

Activate your first subscription by 28/02/2021

      • Thanks!

      • +1

Just checking. Is this for the first 5000 who purchase this or for the first 5000 to activate by 28/02/2021?

My current plan don’t end till early Feb next year, so thinking to this with Gomo after my current plan.

Hi guys , I'm the OG gomo and can confirm I've been on and off with the marketing side of these guys since September 🤣

It brings me joy to see such a good username transformed in such unexpected and awesome way! 🤠

I've had my username for over 15yrs now and now I can say alot of my close contacts will now be asking me if I started up the company that isn't true but my nickname has an awesome purpose!

  • +4

You could make big bucks if you reach out to Gomo to buy out your account

    • +1

I cannot confirm nor deny such events may have already taken place 👀

They wouldn't want my ozb account and I would never intend giving that up

      • At least you can update your profile image now…

        • Nah I'm not associated with them

      • +2

        NDA signed I assume

    • chocko choko

  • Isn’t the $17 jbhifi telstra deal including 5g like way better than this ?

  • Can we port in existing numbers to this?

  • +1

Is anyone able to order a sim at the moment? The website is timing out for me

    • +1

Yes, I ordered one yesterday and it's working.

  • Not working. Tried to click go to payment then error comes up

    ‘Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.gomo.com.au/error?" on this server.
    Reference #18.eaed32b8.1605705077.b86a04c’

    • I wasn't able to get anywhere with the desktop version of the site, but bringing up the page on a mobile device worked.
      Go figure…

      • No luck for me on mobile, it may have had something to do with a content blocker which is weird. Had to turn off ublock on desktop for it to work

    • +1

Just ordered on Android phone ok.

Gomo is a subscription mobile service. To use Gomo, you must establish a subscription via the Gomo Australia app, where you can also manage your service.
Your subscription will automatically renew at 11:00pm Sydney time on the day of expiry of the then current subscription period. You can manage all
subscription options, including ending the subscription, via the Gomo Australia app.

Is this prepaid for sure? The CIS does mention 'credit', so I assume this would be prepaid, but nowhere does it clearly mention. Is there a catch?

    • +1

Prepaid with auto recharge. No bills

    • It's definitely Prepaid.

      No catch.

      No bills either.

  • +1

You can top up 10GB for $5 via the app (when it becomes available). With a $5 top-up, you would be paying $30 for 28GB. Cancellation of the service is also done via the app.

  • +1

$1 Starter Pack looks like it has expired

    • +2

It has indeed expired. Yesterday, 22nd, was the last day of the early-bird promotion.

  • Not $1 a month anymore.

    Now $35 a montn.

  • Still waiting on a port in request fingers crossed all is good

    • how much time did it take you to get porting done? I have been waiting for 1.5 hours

      • I started it on a Sunday night and it was ready by midday but I had to speak to live chat to speed it up

        • +1

thanks, its app activation looks very easy but no confirmation email after I started processing porting

        • +1

btw, I even don't know we can port exsiting number on Sun! It says only Mon-Sat

          • @baron33: I’m guessing they mean it won’t be processed until the next day, like you just do it and it goes in a queue? I’ve always just done it whenever tbh but usually with Optus and Telstra it’s typically a few minutes, used to have living nightmares at times with Lycamobile so gave that up, 1 or 2 mishaps with Kogan, but that’s what you get with sim-slutting. Now I’m just with belong but I put my better half on with these guys for a trial

          • @baron33: I did have to reset network settings a couple of times for GOMO to work properly which was odd but it’s fine now

    • what was the process like? did you need an active number to send a confirm sms? or can that be done through the app?

      • +1

Yep active number and confirmed SMS. Can’t really do anything in the app until it’s done
