        Banks and Credit companies aren't super keen on it right now - so I wouldn't be using it if you're intending to apply for a loan in the future

        No fees or interest, it's just a payment split into 4 direct debits, once every 2 weeks.
        I think you get a starting limit of $300 you can 'borrow'. It grows gradually.

        Split into 4 payments, one every 2wks. They notify you the day before & if the payment fails you have 24hrs to make the payment or you get charged $10 fee.
        This is just Afterpay, some others charge interest. Zippay charges a $6 monthly fee. Seems everyone is trying get a piece of the pie.
        Have heard terrible stuff about the latitudepay.

    Is it easy to set these up with "record on motion detection" functionality?

    I'm not sure that I need a video doorbell but a cheap means of confirming safe deliveries would aid my Amazon Prime addiction…

          They're actually well worth the subscription.. it works out to be about $3.30 a month if you pay annually. Even if you choose not to pay, you can still get notified when motion detection is triggered, watch the delivery live, talk to them etc. It just doesn't record it without the subscription.

          I have about half a dozen of these ring cameras up on my property, and they're a great option.

              @anawth: Yeah, Ring cameras in general, not specifically this model. 4 cameras that cover the 4 sides of the house, a front door camera and one on the driveway.

        Sure, it seems to have a longer battery life.
        The wide angle lense is much better, and the knock function works great
        The peephole is handy too, I actually cut a peephole into the door just to install it
        The downside is people don't always realise it's a doorbell (because the button looks a bit like the camera at first glance)

    i don't want to de-rail OP's thread but , if anyone was looking at a similar product and wanted a little better quality i recommend the Eufy 2K Video Wireless Doorbell.

    Free local storage which is encrypted (no subscription fee's) and accessible and downloadable via the app.

    Comes with a small white box (homebase) that act's as the storage unit and also functions as a repeater if you have more then one and you can also hook up cameras at a later date if it took your fancy.

    Not affiliated with EUFY at all but i could not help myself to offer my 2c because the functionality and quality are really good.

      Absolutely love my eufy cameras and door sensors and having all of the data and videos stored on the home base without needing to pay a subscription is a win win for me!

        Agree , i am eagerly awaiting for the 2k Quality Camera's to be rolled out.

        In the mean time Harvey Norman (gerry harvey) won't be seeing a single cent from me , he was the bastard that made sure we pay extra GST on any imported goods under $1000.

        unfortunately paid retail at the time because i was impatient , $329 from Bunnings that comes with Homebase 2

        But it has been on sale cheaper previously on Ozbargain

        I reckon they should be discounted with the upcoming black friday sales happening next week so just hang tight another week if you can , otherwise its ok to cough up retail as the quality is good.

          I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do. I like EUFY but I wa t 24/7 recording so I'm considering a wired nvr setup.
          But I definitely want a doorbell camera.

            @teacherer: TBH i was considering NVR and a NAS system for home setup but then i thought , in my situation i don't need 24/7. as long as the camera's are setup correctly and the sensitivity adjusted properly so there is minimal false positives , essentially it will capture pretty much all required information and still store the information locally which is encrypted so even if someone breaks into your house and steals the unit they cant obtain or delete the footage without your login credentials.

            The Eufy system in my opinion is well worth its value for the simple fact you don't need to pay subscription fee's for storage and already comes with an app you can open in a split second to perform requested functions (answer doorbell , download footage , operate voice commands etc)

            At the end of the day it all depends how much you want to spend $$$ and the effort you want to go to.

                @teacherer: any smart setup would usually involve cross vision , for example i have a 3 camera set-up just for the front of the house covering 3 different angles but they also interconnect. even if one failed to pick-up on an event the other 2 would , similar story as if one camera was to get vandalized they would get caught by the other two.

                the doorbell isn't just a doorbell it also has the same functionality as a camera just in higher image quality. (as EUFY has not released their 2k cameras here just yet).

                I just get up on a ladder and connect a small powerbank from time to time to top up the battery as it is high density / lots of foot traffic where i live but when set correctly it only captures what i need it to capture (if that makes sense).

      It's not similar. This one is unique in that the peephole door functionality is maintained. The Eufy is not see through :)

      and FWIW I do like Eufy, and wish they made a peephole cam like this one.

        there is no need for a peephole when you can literally open your app to view from the app itself? , not just that but to physically alter a pre-existing peephole to put a cam in there completely defeats the purpose.

        additionally MOST households (not apartments) have screen doors or gates prior to the main door and having ANY doorbell with an inbuilt camera will suit the same purpose but you can actually see.

        are you telling me you prefer the act of standing right in front of your door to "peep" on other people who may or may not be on the other side then compared to sitting down somewhere relaxing or being elsewhere with the remote capability to "peep" via an app?

        i am not sure why this particular old-school setup peaks your fancy as it is not advantageous in the slightest but more of an inconvenience.

        I'm with you, if I'm standing by the door and it rings, it's much much faster to just look through the peephole than wait for the phone to ring, open the app, wait for it to load to see who it is

    Waiting for something that works with Google home ie: shows video footage on Google(nest) home screens and is also free. I use this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/orion-grid-connect-smart-wireles… and it works great via smartphone wether I'm home or not and it stores every video for free accessible via phone also. It basically records 30ish seconds of footage every time motion sets it off, and stores it on memory card. I have had it around 6 months and it hasn't (quite) filled the standard 16gb memory card yet. I think storage is upgradeable. Mine is the wireless version and I have to charge it every couple of months or so.

      It’s widely suspected Amazon makes little no margin on their hardware (ring, Alexa,kindle), to sell you the subscription service with the privacy downsides of that.
      I wasn’t familiar with Eufy until this post, looks like a good product. Owning your data has a value, one that we’re giving away with cheap hardware products connected to the cloud.

    Bugger, should have read before ordering. I’m currently in a rental that doesn’t have a spyhole, and I don’t think the owners would be too happy with me drilling a hole through the door.
