My delivery for this was apparently lost. Ordered 16/10.

    • Auspost refund?

      • +7

Amazon should easily sort that out for you their CS is pretty awesome.

        • Imagine doing amazon Returns and item got lost. What happens then?

          • +4

@MuddyClear: just message them, they are amazing

I always do that first now instead of returning if something was damaged etc as often they will just refund and you can keep/dispose of

@MuddyClear: I had a return to Amazon UK that never seemed to leave Aus on Auspost tracking. They refunded me anyway.

          • @MuddyClear: I had an item get lost from Amazon UK - made it to Aus then disappeared. They send an email saying "if your item hasn't arrived by (Date), then you are applicable for a refund.

Item didn't arrive, got my refund, item somehow disappeared into the void of Auspost.

  • Can we get laptop added in the title somewhere please. I read through the Amazon page & while it says it's laptop ram multiple times I couldn't see anywhere saying you could use it in a desktop.

    • +7

Sodimm means it’s for laptop, which also means it will not work in a desktop.

      • Ok thanks. Good to know.

    • +6

No. This RAM is also for desktops that support it.

      • -3

Never heard of desktops using laptop ram…

        • +5

Some ITX boards support it. Ex : Asrock H110TM-ITX

@bazingaa: Make sense for tiny boards. Thanks for the info.

@MuddyClear: I vaguely remember that once I have used a PC/104 motherboard with SO-DIMM as well. So, It is mostly used in embedded and small form factor PCs.

        • SFF & USFF usually use these

      • +2

IMac’s use this RAM, at least my 2019 one does.

    • Intel NUC boxes use this ram.

Thanks, I bought 2 sticks for my Dell G3

    • Nice, what are you going to do with the old ram?

I got 2x8gb atm with a recently purchased 8gb stick for $39 and tempted to go all in and get 2x16gb to make it 32gb. But in doing so my 2x8gb ram stick will be gone to waste :(

      • 16gb is plenty. You don’t need 32gb unless you’re doing video editing…

        • its always at 50% idle but

        • never enough ram for chromium..

      • You can resell them - get about $75.

Thanks OP - Bought two for my Inspiron 7580 - seems compatible from the Crucial website.

Should I know anything in particular for installation? Never done it before and not overly computer savvy - is it just pop the old ones out, new ones in and away we go?

    • +1

      Yep simple as

    • +1

Just follow youtube, make sure you unplug the battery cable first just for safety before touching the RAMs. Then sell the old RAM on facebook/gumtree to recoup some $

      • Cheers, should I wear latex gloves too?

        • if you have some lying around why not to be on the safe side. But its not compulsory, I never wore anyway, others my disagree

(profanity), just paid $167 last week for two sticks…. typical

Anyone know if this works with 2019 iMac, all specs the same except PC4-21333 is required for iMac and this is PC4-21300 - not sure what it all means. Thanks

    • +1

They are the same thing! Just companies being weird - you'll be set

      • Thx just had another thought wonder if they give tax invoice from amazon uk? Might be better off getting here otherwise.

        • It shouldn't be as you're purchasing via Amazon AU

          • -1

            @noren7: I thinking yes as

If your order was an Amazon Global Store order
For Amazon Global Store products, which have a customs value of $1,000 AUD or less (low value imported goods or LVIG), a tax invoice will be available for your order with details of the GST applied to the order. See Print an Invoice or Order Summary.

For Amazon Global Store products which have a customs value of greater than $1,000 AUD, an order summary will be available for your order which will include an Import Fees Deposit (an estimation of taxes, customs duties and fees which may apply to that product). A tax invoice is not available for such orders.

You will be able to print an Order Summary for all Amazon Global Store orders.

If you need a tax invoice and don't see one available in the order details in Your Orders you'll need to contact the 3P seller directly to ask for one.
