    You be quiet

Are these actually super silent ? Serious question. I am very sensitive to noise at night even my iMac fan sometimes gets me and I can’t concentrate. I have an old Acer pc which has fan which is very noticeable. If this thing is whisper quiet I’d buy it instantly..

    • It looks like it comes with the fans as well. I have Be Quiet! fans in my current case, the only noise I can hear is the air moving, not any actual fan noise.

      • They come with 2x be quiet fans.

      • " the only noise I can hear is the air moving"

That's still noise. Some fans have quieter air movement noise than others. Depends on size of fan and speed. Bigger the fan, quieter the air movement. This is why I like the ThermalTake Core V21 mATX Case, with huge 200 mm fan on front.

I did some research on this case. Apparently it has very low noise if you use the right part that they provide. Or you can replace the top cover with filter if you want lower temp, but noise may increase due to lack of cover.

I built a PC in this case last week and was very impressed. With a Core i5, stock cooler, and the two fans in there, tuned to quiet in bios, temps seemed fine and the PC cannot be heard at all from about 30cm away. Also overall very impressed with the layout and thoughtful design. I have built in a heap of cases in this pricepoint and nothing has come close to how impressed I was by how well thought out and simple to build in this was.

    • They're about as close as you'll get, especially the Silent Base 801. They use thicker than average steel, noise dampening materials, and their fans are tuned for low noise rather than high airflow.

    • I have a pure base 600. Hardly hear anything even with a Vega 64 cranked up. Not cheap though so this looks a good deal..

    • Then you’ll be looking at a hot box like Silencio from Coolermaster. Get some decent quiet case fans and adjust the fan curve you’ll be fine. (Not until you run something more CPU intensive, it will be hot inside and forcing the fans to move higher speed).

    • They're much quieter than normal case, worth it for some people. I would also put another fan in the front of this case if I bought it, to run the front fans at low rpm.

Did a build for my parents with this case. Quiet 140mm fans and sound deadening throughout the case. I was very impressed

All I need now is a deal on a CPU.

  • Is this a sff or mini case?

    • No, it's in a mix between a mid and mini tower

      • ok thank you

  • +15

Nah. Shipping killed the deal for me.

Its $89 on their website as well but it shows $15 shipping (Melbourne to Melbourne). On the ebay listing it shows postage as $27.26.

Shipping kills the deal. $49 for me in QLD :(

  • Man I just picked up a FD Define 7 Compact… This looks super sweet.

    • +1

I'm really considering the Define 7 Compact but have seen some contradicting views regarding airflow. What got you over to buy the case? The case you bought ticks all the boxes with it being a compact case and stylish, but only thing that's bugging me is if there's going to be any potential airflow issues…

      • I have 4 intakes, 3 front 1 bottom and I did want a case to be more silent than airflow focused. That said, airflow cases can be more quiet under load, but I wanted it quiet at all times.

  • Just a tip from my own experience when configuring case airflow: dust filters are useless. They kill the airflow to the point where you need to up the noise and fan speed to compensate. Then the dust fills the filter anyway and future dust bypasses the filter and everything gets hotter.

Much better to have no dust filters but dial the fan speed right down. Saves your ears and fan lifespan, while lowering dust buildup.

Confused as to how you "came across this case on their black friday sale" when A) BF is next week, and B) There's no mention of BF on their site?

    • I think you cracked the da vinci code

    • Don't know about the op… But I'm on their mailing list and got promo emails about black Friday..
There is a few mentions of bf in the promo product listings on the site

Cheers bought a white one from ebay, and so at 42 my first PC build has begun lol, just waiting on some Cyber Monday deals now, roll on the cheap Ryzen 5 3600 deals!

building for the first time, also looking at 3600 and 1660S and I am done.

I was looking for a good cheap card, that one seems to fit the bill nicely. What RAM did you buy?

        • Downvoted? The trolls are out

  • -1

Thanks - I bought it, but with a solid side panel from U-Mart for $99 and $18 shipping

Worth a note….This Case does not have a Reset Button or a HDD LED.

    • Reset button not that important right? Just hold power button will do the job. Led light again optional for people don’t like flashing lights?

      • +1

Some people would find it useful and perhaps a deal breaker.

    • Looks like it only has 2 USB's on the front panel too. :(

I have the non-TG version of this (I hate how few windowless cases there are these days). I found air intake to be an issue which is perhaps why they also make a meshed front version.

    • Pull the dust filters out perhaps.

    • Yeah GamersNexus also had issues with airflow on this version of the case. I bought the 500DX just this weekend and moved my parts over from an old old Corsair 350D to the be quiet! 500DX and having no issues with intake.

The DX version comes with 3 x fans which I reconfigured with 2 x at the front for intake and 1 x exhaust. So far so good, not any worse than my old case but much more neatly packed.

      • May I know where did you buy it from and how much? I also want this case but most places are currently out of stock…

        • Got mine from mwave for $169 click and collect. I bought the white one, relatively easy to build in aside from one of my motherboard screws that just didn't screw in - but 7/8 should be fine haha.

          • @kensaiD: That looks awesome! I think is case is pretty good value considering the included ARGB light strips and 3 decent fans. Unfortunately I can't C&C due to living in GC, and shipping is pretty steep at $35. Might have to wait for Umart to restock and hopefully before Christmas.

One more thing, would you mind measuring the width of the case including the protrusion of the thumb screws on the left glass panel? I want to fit this case in my desk cabinet which is 24cm wide. The spec sheet says the 500DX is 23.2cm wide, but I'm not sure if that's including the thumb screws.

            • +1

@Hellcrusher3304: Hey mate, not sure if you were still expecting a response or not. Just measured now and I'd say 24 to be safe. It's just shy of 24cm from what I can tell, but 24cm would be a very tight squeeze.

Not the tempered glass does rest on rubber feet with the screws only there to secure it so I suppose if you went full madlad you could fit it easily enough without screwing those in.

              • @kensaiD: Thanks mate, really appreciate your response! I might go ahead with this case anyways, really like it. Worst case scenario, I'll just clear up my desk and allocate some space for it. :)
