      • I'm guessing you're yet to hear back from them?

I don't think "Due to circumstances beyond our control" is a good enough excuse and that some transparency would do Kogan some good right about now.

  • +2

How nice of them to take my money for 3 weeks and cancel it.

    • +1

They shipped the charger though.

      • +2

Yeah just got confirmation the QC wall charger is shipped hahaha
So free SIM, wall charger and the $30 CommBank rebate - but I really wanted the phone…

        • Man wtf. I used a $100 prezzie gift card on this too. They better reimburse that too.

      • +1

Wtf!? Yep..have an item coming in my ozpost account tracking!? What a shambles! If I didn’t want the phone as much - this circus of sh!t would almost be funny

        • woohoo got the QC wall charger…. what a mess

  • +2

Hopefully this is some sort of error on their behalf. How can you cancel orders after 3 weeks then re-list it $999?? It surely wasn't a pricing error? it was up for a few days before it was supposedly sold out.

    • +1

its because you realise that you can sell the limited amount of units you have at the higher price as the demand is there so you cancel everyone's order and hope no one complains. I've raised a ticket as well lets see what they say.

Are Kogan known for this black friday bait and switch tactic? i haven't bought anything from them during such a sale event

  • +1

Is there a kogan rep we can work with on ozbargain since there are so many of us? This is really terrible customer service and I'll definitely be lodging an ACCC claim.

  • +1

Infuriating to say the least, can't just unilaterally cancel it when the money has been taken, and cancelled it

  • Just had Kogan contact me saying my order was cancelled, meanwhile we can still purchase the phone from the website $999 and ships on the same date…

Considering I also ordered a screen protector as well as a phone charger I find that extremely suspicious that both of these were sent off prior to the email announcing the cancellation and refund of only the phone.

Sounds like they're just after free money….

  • +2

Just received the PayPal refund from Kogan, to add to the fire, Kogan only refunded the phone, but keeping $9.99 shipping fee when the phone itself was unilaterally cancelled by Kogan without any communication

Raised a contact Kogan ticket and no response,
I'm not sure if any of us OzBargainers will be organising a class query in relation to this deal, but I will be filing my ACCC (https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/report-a…) this weekend with the screenshots, emails and receipts I kept for this deal

    • Didn't refund the shipping.. wow, that's scummy of them. Yes I'll be doing the same with the ACCC. Kogan hasn't followed up to my reply to their initial ticket response, and I doubt they will.

      • +1

I never receive a cancellation email nor notification. I only knew to raise a query after seeing other OzB comments above.
The response their customer care representative provided was 'Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to supply…', but they stop short explaining how the same item is now listed on the website immediately after cancellation. Neither the reason to justify keeping the shipping fee when the primary item is cancelled and not shipped.
They offered $10 account credit which I declined, no reason Kogan can keep any money when I am receiving nothing.

Already raised a query with ACCC and Consumer Affaris Victoria regarding their treatment, I encourage affected OzBargainers raised a query to see where this takes us. Another ACCC v Kogan mk.2

  • Got my charger today! 🥳 what an effing shambles 😒

  • Finally got reply from Kogan from the ticket on 16th December
    What a load of BS

Thank you for your email and I apologise for the late reply.

I understand that your initial order for the OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB, McLaren Edition) - Global Model has been cancelled due to supply shortage.

I can confirm that the item that is currently available on our website is on presale.

We do not currently have stocks for this item and I truly am sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

    • Yes, I noticed the item is currently listed to ship on 5th Jan, this is identical to everyone of us who back in late-November. The shipping timing is the same. It's not a matter whether Kogan has stocks at the moment because we bought in knowing its expected shipment date is 5th Jan anyway.

Relisting the same item now at a higher price tag whilst cancelling everyone who bought in when it was pre-sale at lower price is deceitful, not fair dinkum

  • +3

Filled a claim with Fair trading NSW. Hope everyone else has too! They shorted me delivery fee on the refund

  • +1

After seeing the same model still available at $999 and now for the boxing day sale for $895 (shipping in 1-3 business days) I asked further about why my last order was cancelled. This was the response.

    "Thanks for your email.

As a company, community service is currently our top priority during a time when our customers need us most.

With this in mind, let me provide you with some more context, in terms of the price enquiry you've raised regarding a specific item.

Kogan.com uses dynamic pricing based on supply and demand. This means that as both of these variables fluctuate, prices will also change accordingly. However, there are also other factors that can influence the price including:

Low stock available for dispatch from our warehouses
Uncertainty around freight and logistics, creating unprecedented backlogs and delays
Additional customs scrutiny and rapid changes in border rules (including full closures), adding abnormal costs to the importation of certain goods
Unforeseen circumstances creating uncertainty in how much stock we can secure from our suppliers in the current COVID-19 climate

This product is one such product that has been affected by the above factors. The price and shipping times reflect the current demand, the current difficulties in securing stock from suppliers, and our current available information on when these products will be available for distribution.

The current situation presents a lot of uncertainties going forward, but we are striving to continue providing our customers with a wide range of high-quality products at Australia's best prices, delivered promptly through our logistics network."

I feel like I'm about to dedicate an ungodly amount of hours to this…

      Check out Dylzera's posts.

    • +1

Least you even got a reply. After the initial helpfulness i initially received at the start of my particular saga - i got total radio silence across all communications from them.

Dylzera is the only one that was fortunate enough to get someone at Kogan to help out. As by looks of both threads - rest of us so far have nothing but frustration, disappointment & dissatisfaction.

      • +1

Mine got passed onto a Senior Team member on the 22nd Dec and nothing since.
Ended up getting a Pixel 4a 5g at JB - good not great. Think would've still preferred the OnePlus…

        • +1

Least they escalated it for you. Albeit highlights another example of their totally inconsistent process..
Nice one 👍🏻 I saw that deal and almost pulled trigger myself..yet was still clinging onto bit of hope as i hadn't had my $ refunded. well now that ship has now sailed, ill just stay extra grumpy with a nice sprinkling of salty for awhile now before making any purchases

          • +1

            @LV-426: @LV-426
If you really want it, keep pushing Kogan.
My escalation to the senior team member finally replied with the unique link to re-purchase at $749 but won't be shipped till 25th Jan
Weighing up whether to give my money to Kogan for another 3-4 weeks again with nothing to show for…

            • @mightyhawks23: Wowser! That is a turnaround! Part of me still really wants/likes it yet not sure if am willing to go on this rollercoaster again with them 🤔

Good to know they came through with a link in the end 👌🏻 ill mull it over too as this whole saga has soured me on them - and by association the new phone experience of excitement anticipation etc

              • +1

@LV-426: So after thinking about it, I've taken them up on the offer
Initially; it was $749 + shipping but in the initial order, I took up the Kogan First trial to get free shipping
Pushed back and they amended the offer for $749 with free shipping

                Fingers crossed they'll deliver in about a month's time…

                • @mightyhawks23: Nice! So they should include shipping!

I was still pondering myself as my previous comment-needed to work out if i was still/found the prospect exciting..

After reading positive results in here was going to raise another ticket/case & see where the ball bounced.. logged into emails today and have seen i finally got an email from them, Katrina 30Dec (clearly had been busy from some others comments with same) apologising for the ‘mistakenly cancelled & refunded’ & sent me a link to buy - yay!! 😁

I am still skeptical on how this has all gone down still..
-did OnePlus crack it at Kogan for selling too low?
-did they not think it would be popular?
-did they truly have issues with stock?
-did they backflip as we have lodged ACCC queries?
-odd i (& others) had no reply then whammy multiple?

Guess selling at 750 vs no sale at 999 finally dawned on them?! 🤨

Anyways, excellent news all round for us all and yes a BIG🤞 We are smiling in a months time

          • +1

@LV-426: Yes, same here. Opened a new ticket, and escalated it.

            • @redpen: Awesome! Looks like a new ticket should’ve been my plan over the past weeks.

        • +1

lol I did the exact same. Worked out in the end I guess.

    • Unfortunately, it just got more dodgy with their customer rep's latest response:

I understand how frustrating this situation must be for you as I would feel the same if I were in your position.
At this stage, I can confirm that this item was cancelled due to the fact that we did not have the right amount of stock.
I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, please know that this was not our intention.
The item was still available on the website, though with a new pre-sale date of 26th of January, 2021:
We will be able to provide free shipping for the order if you are wanting to place a new one.
      [Current $999 listing price attached]
Please let me know how you wish to proceed and I will be happy to assist you further.

So Kogan are offering free shipping if I:
      1. accept the delay, and
      2. pay the higher price

I didn't cancel the order in the first place (!) The money was taken for 3 weeks.
Is there no end to this madness ? I'm blown away by this reponse

  • Also completely no email notification about the phone being cancelled, except the ticket I lodged.

I asked the matter to be escalated higher to a manager, and only received another response re: shipping fee

    Hi,

Your $9.99 shipping refund has been arranged and will be processed shortly.

The funds may take 3 - 5 business days to show up in your account, depending on bank transfer times.

You will receive an automated email notification once your refund has been processed.

Thank you for choosing to shop with us and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
    Kindest regards,

    Nandhu J
    Customer Care Team

Completely dodged my questions on cancelling & re-listing instantaneously with a price hike.

Really don't care about the phone, but needed an answer, or a learning experience for future episode. I treat this as an opportunity
Waiting for ACCC & Consumer Affairs Victoria response on my queries

Alright so Kogan support finally got back to me….

Upon following up on your order for the OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB, McLaren Edition) - Global Model, unfortunately, this order was mistakenly cancelled and refunded. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. As this is the case, we're happy to organise a payment link for the OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB, McLaren Edition) - Global Model for the price of $749.00 + shipping.

ugh, bit late. I already got my pixel 4a 5g for $650 from the recent sale. Even if I hadn't not sure if I would buy it anyway. Would rather not support trashy, anti-consumer tactics.

    • +2

Received same response from Katrina at Kogan customer care team

Noticed the offer actually carries a further 3 weeks delay:

Please note that this item is currently on presale for the 25th of January.

      Still dodging my intiial questions
It feels like as if Kogan is just monitoring the sales trade across other sellers, let some of us buy ourselves out, before taking the next step to arbitrage for their convenience

  • +1

I'm also unsure with how to proceed. Is there a better value phone that I should be considering instead?
Not too fussed with waiting another few weeks although the experience has left a sour taste

    • I ended up taking the plunge, as after much thought - finally having option to purchase (without me having to chase again) helped me over the line. For my needs this device still hits all the very right spots for feature set and price point & was why was so salty when it all went to sh1t.

Definitely the whole saga has left a VERY sour taste though - so for me now, regardless if phone actually arrives - will be last time i buy from them
