  • You must be in an eligible suburb right? Also whats the approx cost of say 250mps plan?

    • Yeah you do. Check here

      250/100 is minimum $209 a month.

  • They don't have the speeds you listed though?

    • +1

nbn Enterprise Ethernet is capable of symmetrical download/upload.

Anyone know how much 100/100 costs? I might try take advantage of this.

PDF only goes up to 50/50 @ $499/month ex GST

      • -8

That's ridiculous. What a scam lmao

        • +4

Not really a scam (although I agree nbn's wholesale pricing is a complete rip-off).
It's got a 1:1 contention ratio (to give you an idea standard residential nbn services are 100:1 contention ratio).
It's the difference between sharing a pipe with other traffic and getting one all to yourself even if you're not using it.

@Rhuarcian: I got $80 for NBN 100 from Telstra which has 100/40, you can aggregate two plans to get 200/80 I suppose, and cost you less than $200/month. how is 50/50 @ $499/month ex GST not a scam

            • +4

@yfxsmike: I'm assuming from the price that's a residential service.
I'm also on 100/40 FTTP with Internode and typically get around 90+Mbps but because it's residential if everyone jumps on an decides to hammer 4k Netflix at the same time that's gonna drop in speed remarkably quickly.

1:1 contention ratio means your ISP has a dedicated, full speed pipe just for you. So if you had one of the enterprise plans and logged in in the middle of the above Netflix hammering at peak time you'd still get the full speed of your plan rather than have to share traffic with the rest of us plebs. That's what you're paying for, the fact that your ISP can't use the bandwidth they've purchased from nbn for your service for anything other than your service (cause you'll probably ring up and abuse them if you were a business paying $550/month for 50/50 guaranteed and you connected and it was only 45/45).

              • +2

@Rhuarcian: It also includes enterprise support… So no more "Yeh, nbn will get to it in 5-7 days". Some businesses value internet enough to give a damn about uptime.

  • +2

    Perfect timing.

  • It's applicable for Businesses only, not for household

    • nbn Enterprise Ethernet is available in eligible home zones.

  • Looks interesting, just learning of Enterprise Ethernet and found my location is eligible.

Do you know if I have FTTN does Enterprise Ethernet mean they will install business fibre FTTP? I couldn't see any prices online or through live chat. Do you know what the minimum cost commitment is in order to be eligible for the ABB credits?

    • +1

Yeah nbn install a separate Enterprise Ethernet FTTP service. FTTN stays active unless you cancel it.

    • +1

Cost = You wouldn't buy this just to get the credit. If you're already thinking of getting enterprise internet, it might sway you…

As below, the lowest you'll get is $499/m on 12 month contract + installation cost of $5k, or 36 month contract + free install.

  • +3

Enterprise nbn™ TC-2 plans Monthly cost ex. gst
    nbn5/5 Unlimited $149
    nbn10/10 Unlimited $279
    nbn20/20 Unlimited $399
    nbn50/50 Unlimited* $499

    • I assume they wouldn't install fibre if you sign up for less than 100Mb plans? Are they all on a 12-36 month contract?

      • +2

It depends on location/tech/etc, but a quick check of both an existing HFC & FTTC premise shows 50/50 is run over a new installation, so has a contract OR installation cost. eg. 36 month = free install, 12 month = $5k install. Fairly standard at this end of the scale though.

      • +1

nbn Enterprise Ethernet is all contracts.

        • Thanks guys!

          nbnco says:

Enterprise Ethernet is available at this location with no up-front build costs to providers

I was curious if the Business Fibre FTTP service could be installed and paid for by nbnco, then the service could be switched to be used just for residential use, but I assume that's not an option…

          • +1

@Hargain Bunter: The no upfront install cost is on a 36 month contract and you can't switch to the cheaper regular or SMB fibre plans.

            • +2

@Twix: Cool, thanks for clarifying! I'll just have to wait it out for the Liberals to implement Labor's original nbn…

              • @Hargain Bunter: What kind of NBN tech do you have now?

                • @Twix: Residential FTTN with Launtel at the moment. I can get around 75Mb but was hoping to get those sweet Gb speeds. I couldn’t see any info about timelines for the FTTP upgrades in my area. Do you know if timelines have been announced?

                  • @Hargain Bunter: nbn are starting fibre extensions in the following..

                    Belmont North, Charlestown, Toronto, Carramar, Castle Hill, Holsworthy, Liverpool, and Wetherill Park in New South Wales;
                    Lyndhurst and Narre Warren in Victoria;
                    Acacia Ridge, Browns Plains, Eight Mile Plains and Oxenford in Queensland;
                    Osborne in South Australia, and
Cannington and Double View in Western Australia.

With more announcements early 2021 and to be finished by the end of 2023.

Another way to get FTTP is to request a quote from nbn.

                    • +1

@Twix: Thanks very much mate, appreciate your time and advice!
