How does this compare to the https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583421 (Cordless Balls Trimmer) other than a saving of $30.20?

took your advice. Now hospitalised because I used the Ozito on the chicken skin change purse.

    • Cordless Balls Trimmer is recommended for Bonsai Christmas trees?

  • Is this a good price? Thinking if getting one to trim the hedges

It's not a replacement for a proper full-size trimmer. If you have a large hedge don't bother, if it's just small shrubs that need an occasional haircut it'll be good.

      • Thanks yeah mines a bit big as it covers our front fence and is around 2.5m high

errr…no, this definitely won't do! Honestly, I think you'd get better performance from a mains-powered trimmer and a lengthy cord. If you're on a budget Bunnings have this one is only $20 more, and a couple of different 25m extension leads for $18. Still get the aerosol lube like I recommended below, you need to keep the blades well lubricated or they won't last long. It might even be worthwhile checking your local pawn shop, they always seem to have lots of these available, but insist on checking it before buying.

          • @Chazzozz: The one you liked is not $29 its ahowing as 69

            • @expatOz: The forum formatting broke the flow of the sentence, but it says, "…this one is only $20 more…". I wasn't saying the trimmer itself was only $29.

I've actually got one of these, had it for a couple of years. It's reasonably good, and nowhere near as loud as the sound rating makes it out to be. Don't expect it to power through branches thicker than a few millimetres, but for a quick trim of fresh growth it does a great job. The battery lasts quite a while, I've run it for a couple of hours of regular stop-start usage over an afternoon and not exhausted the power. Charging is not very fast, so don't expect a quick top-up before you use it. The different blades give you an option for tackling the job from alternate angles (sweep back-and-forth with the long blade, or a straight line with the shorter one), which helps if you have an awkward spot to reach.

At this price I'd recommend it. Grab a can of the cheapest aerosol lubricant as well, and give the blades a spritz on a regular basis while in use, and a good coverage before storing. This helps to keep them operating smoothly and going rusty when sitting between sessions.

    • Got to be careful with those lubricants, they can kill the plant. Silicone and lanolin based ones are the safe options.

Set up your store 1st, you can locate the item.

      • Did that; still takes me to homepage and doesnt show up online maybe its na in WA

  • Does this share the same battery pack with Ozito PXC tools? e.g. the trimer (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-grass-trimmer-kit_…) and blower (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-blower-kit_p338108…)?

    Update — I think not… that's 18v and this one is 7.2v

The battery on the trimmer is built-in and uses a plug-in charger. It's not removable and can't be used on other tools.
