  • Did you use gift card as payment method or via voucher code? if latter case, i don't think it qualifies. And I don't think 10% would apply to the original price.
You might end up getting $798.50 which is still decent price.

    • As per Cashback T's and C's
"Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method"

    $789 + shipping at SE https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/synology-diskstation-… if you don't have eBay Plus/Shopback

    • Even with ebayPlus ($49) I think ebay deal is better I guess, saving of about $51 over shopping express

    Thanks OP. Placed an order!

Thanks OP. I got one too.

  • Good machine, recommended.

Mine was a bit flaky from factory, a reinstall fixed it good as new (heh).

  • Can this handle 2160p video files through Plex?

What does 0TB 4GB mean? Is it 0TB or 4GB? Or 0TB storage with 4GB/s read?

    • 4GB Ram

0 TB = Diskless, you need to purchase hard disk separately

    • +1

Pretty sure it's 0TB of storage (BYO disks), 4GB RAM.

Can you tell me how you get $689?

    EbayPlus=$1029x0.8=$823.22
    cashback=-$823.22x0.1=$82.32
    Giftcard discount=-$823.22x0.03=$24.70

    • Mine was approximate math, I agree yours is correct.. will update it

      • The 10% cashback offer has just finished at 10pm anyway. Bummer.

    • +1

LOL, I was doing the same math

  • wow selling out quickly again.

  • That's what ozbargains uses to run this site, πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ someone will feel but hurt by that.

  • $689.43 using ebayPlus + Shopback Cashback 10% + 3% discounted Shopback ebay gift card

    how do you get $689.43?

    1. it's $823.20 after eBay Plus, that's what you need to pay to purchase. ($823.20)
    2. using Shopback and get 10% = ($823.20 * 10%) = $82.32
    3. using 3% off giftcard to pay the $823.20 = ($823.20 * 3%) = $24.69

    in total = ($823.20-$82.32-$24.69) = $716.19

I could be wrong but please prove it, it's a long day for me! :P

  • This one has one Ram slot and plastic case, is this right?

    • Definitely has extra 1 RAM slot. Not sure about plastic case..

  • Don't forget a UPS, the CyberPower Systems are on sale @ Amazon!

    • -2

I am yet to experience any power outage since I arrived in Australia 8 years ago so I think I will pass UPS.

I have instead bought 1TB Kingston ssd for ssd caching

      • +2

Well lucky for you, we've had a couple so far in 2020, not big ones…One was apparently a possum in a junction box somewhere during the cooler months. Plus the bushfire season will be upon us soon and that usually brings in a couple of brownouts on an average.

I'm guessing you're new to NAS and RAID :) Which is OK, we all start somewhere.

        Best of luck!

        • +1

Yep I am noob with regards to NAS. Don’t even know what all it can do , lol

Trying to find it now ..😊

      • It is recommended that you turn off write caching if you decide to use SSD caching to prevent data loss in case of power outage. Oh wait. πŸ˜‚

        • I think you're fine as it's a SSD cache, not an in memory cache (e.g. the cache on hardware RAID cards).

Although Synology won't let you use a single SSD for write caching anyway, it makes you use two in RAID1.

    • Any link?

      • +1

        CyberPower Systems BR700ELCD

This is the one I use, you get a good 15 - 20 mins which is more than enough for a proper shutdown auto-configured via USB.

You can even throw in a home router, extra points if your NBN came with a battery pack :)

The Synology units are well worth the asking price. We have 5 of them between different members of the family, and we're yet to have a failure with heavy use. My 2012 model has been going strong for 8 years with constant use.

  • +1

Been waiting for this for a while. Picked one up. Thanks.

  • Looks like CA will have a few Synology models for blackfriday sale 20% off 2morrow? Maybe cheaper than this if they dont jack the price

    • CA ? Computer Alliance

This model is out of stock with them

      • yep. u right.

    Shopback 10% discount has expired
