Samsung Galaxy S 2 from Allphones / Harvey Norman $598 in-Store, $575 Online

100

Well I just checked Allphones' website and saw this. I know it is not the cheapest compared to current offers from MobileCiti($549), UniqueMobiles ($548), Kogan ($519) or DWI($516). But it should be the cheapest compared to local stores like Telechoice($629) or Harvey Norman.

Pros:
- you get 2 years warranty from Samsung Australia so anything wrong, you can deal with them directly
- you can get the phone immediately from a local branch, and bring back on the same day if it's DOA

Cons:
- more expensive than grey imports

One other thing is the firmware. If you get it from Allphones you will get the Australian firmware, while grey ones ranges from Poland to Middle East, etc. Apparently the speediness of firmware updates for Samsung some times are region-specific. So either one is good and bad at the same time..

Mod:

Also at Harvey Norman for $598

Oh yeah, and it is written 2 years manufacturer warranty.

I am not sure on how the warranty works out. And reading about people finding out the seals on their Nexus S were broken in the recent Nexus S deal from UniqueMobiles seems dodgy to me (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57608#comment-674873).

Though it is now explained that unless it is specifically advertised as "no network software" like it is currently advertised for the SGS2 on the latest deal on OZBargain (but not on their website), Nexus S is never network-branded so that did not really explain it for me..

At the end of the day it could be just placebo.. provided you are buying from the right people.

      • Another person asking MobileCiti this time about broken seal (this time was a seal on another seal):

Why neg when I am just explaining the current situation from what I can see? I am currently thinking of buying this phone so I am looking here and there.

        • All local Nexus S stock in aust is vodafone branded, sonce they are a vodafone exclusive. But since Google is enforcing its no crap policy on Nexuses, the phone is technically unbranded. I suspect that unique just removed vodafone related crap from the boxes.

        • I bought a Nexus S from Vodafone just two months ago when the price dropped to $299. There was no Vodafone bloatware in it.

        • i meant physical bloat, stickers labels etc. The phone itself is clean.

        • Well there was just the Vodafone sticker saying that the phone is locked to their network (which is untrue for this case), and the original Samsung seal saying not to accept the phone if the seal is broken.

You should read the OP's comment on the Nexus S bought from UniqueMobiles. From my memory the person said the seal was broken and he/she found out that a SIM card was previously inserted into the phone.

        • I did read that one (unique) a couple days ago, but it doesn't make sense for any one to use a new phone to activate a prepaid sim. You just activate it with any phone.

Eitherway, send it back for refund if its not "new"

Yes, cheaper on Uniquemobiles (Aus Stock), I dont think, this is a good bargain.

    • Yeah you could be right. But read again my late reply above to BluBoy..

  • You guys are forgetting Kogan!
    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/samsung-galaxy-s2/ $519pp

    • Kogan's warranty is with Kogan HK, and they also confirmed that they are selling grey import stock.

      • Gotchya.

        Local is king.

          Dude. Shutup seriously

        • @nanoronline

Gotchya means 'I understand' not 'I got you'

        • OH.. sorry I really did not understand..

  • Nvm

  • Good deal if you want to go into a shop and walk out with a phone… All others are delivered and personally if the site doesn't offer postal insurance for full cost of phone, then I rather not buy it.
