You can. The taste is similar, but it’ll be less creamy and more crumbly if you do. Don’t know why, but that was my experience.
If you want to use it in a Xmas dessert, i recommend not doing so.

Just made this over the weeked, so easy and tasty! The only real tricky bit as mentioned in the vid - make sure to thaw the cream cheese till its soft before starting! For me I left it unwrapped in the mixing bowl for the whole morning. Also, I used half the sugar and still taste as good!
