Built-in battery for automatic safe shutdown
Tempted to get it just for this. Wish I avoided the 1st gen, we have dodgy power and always have to reset it.

    • I already replaced mine as battery failed after a couple of month which apparently is a known problem

  • My NBN use dynamic IP address.
Using this allows me to view my camera away from home using internet.

There are a few ways to achieve this using a dynamic DNS host.

    • Yes.
You set the system to use protect.ui.com, and the controller keeps it up to date with how to connect. Though when you are on your home wireless it will just use the local LAN connection.

      • Thats right. No maintenance and works very reliable.
You dont pay subscription fee like other system.

  • I'm running the controller on my Synology nas, but never noticed that it needed a massive amount of storage. What's the point of the 1TB hard drive (upgradable to 5TB)?
