Great for accurate frozen water measurements!

Is this accurate for measuring powdered materials?

    • +3

Does this honestly have to be one of the first comments on every scales deal?

        This or "great for spices"

      • +1

What do you think most people buy them for? jewellry and gem stones? lol.

        • +1

Uh idk, maybe as kitchen scales? Is that an unfair assumption?

          • +2

@pennypincher98: with the size of the actual scale plate you would be pushin it to use them in the kitchen for anything but spices really. Even trying to tare it off with a larger plate will probably use up most of the weight limit leaving you with stuff all

            • @pistachio1: More goes on a scale than flour lol. There's a lot of ingredients you want to be precise with and definitely don't need more than 200g of in any dish.
See you've edited.. Oh well I cbf.

              • @pennypincher98: I have used these scales in the kitchen and unless you are weighing saffron or something small they are crap for the kitchen!! The weighing plate is too small for practical kitchen use.

        • coffee

        • Bought mine for coffee beans. Had a 0.1g accuracy scales for years. Order Friday arrived today, Sunday. Tiny compared to my other but liking it so far. Would've liked a timer function but I didn't check that. No matter. Also no auto-off, but more of a feature than a bug.

This is perfect for measuring powders. Pity it didn't come with a straw.

    • Depends on how precious your powder is, if it is less than the increment is 0.01g than no.

    • +3

Depend on what "powder" you mean.
But the very first review says it all:
"I purchased this for a secondary scale for reloading. it is not accurate or consistent enough for weighing powder, not even close."
Not good enough for me :-(

  • I see gimmicky things like the counting function and I want to buy one…

    Thanks OP.
Chrissy pressy for my dealer sorted.

  • why not this for $24 and can weight upto 3kg vs 300 grams for this.

Large Weighing Range & Refined Accuracy: AMIR digital kitchen scale manufactured with advanced high precision sensors to provide you refined accuracy up to a large weight range of 1g-3000g, 0.01oz/ 0.1g.

    • I like this one has a calibration function. Auto tare would be nice like the other one.

    • Look at this rich boy with 3kg of cocaine

  • I guess this would be great for dialing your coffee

  • Awesome grabbed 20 to increase production

  • Do these scales function well in dimly lit alleyways?

    • Asking the real question. LOL.

You can get 0.01 500g scale from ebay delivered for ~$10 from AU not sure if this is really a deal.

    • Those are only good if you don't mind receiving your .1g bag of saffron always only weighing 0.07 when you weigh it back in your kitchen

      • So the posted scale in this deal is a high quality top branded one with perfect accuracy and not just another cheap product with higher mark up?

The cheap ones Ive bought have a .03-.05 variance over ~50grams certainly not inaccurate over 1g like you suggest (tested with calibration weights), and ultimately you'd want to get the 0.001 scales if you are getting such small amounts and worried your saffron supplier is dealing you underweight product

      • I see you buy points on occasion lol
