  • What differentiates these from the normally priced Brilliant Smart Plugs?

    • Not much besides the cloud/app that controls them, and imho SmartLife/Tuya is better.

      • The Brilliant ones are Tuya.

  • I brought this a while ago from an ozb post for $10 so not really a bargain.

      Where did you bring it?

  • +1

I received two from last promo don't know what to use.

    • +1

electric blanket is my top usage. lights are pretty common. kettle for coffee/tea, if you wake up at regular times. TV to reduce standby power.

    • +2

      Christmas tree lights.

      • I just purchased an arlec grid connect socket for this purpose. Set up a timer as well as a command to enable Christmas mode from the chromecast. I think it was $18 at bunnings. Grid connect system seems pretty good so far.

    • I had mine hooked up to tv/amp/gaming consoles to save on the standby power when not in use.

I have one on my coffee machine to help pre-heat it (dumb machine with power switch turned on all the time).

I have the electric blankets hooked up for pre-heating the bed without going upstairs to it.

And one for a dumb rice cooker. Prepare the rice and flick the switch. Start cooking the rice over the internet.

Lamps when I go on holidays to keep some lights on and off via a schedule.

  • Do these also monitor power usage?
edit just found its a different model

    • Ah, was excited thinking were the HS110 model too.

$27 isn't horrible for the HS110 though (at JB HiFi)

  • $10 should be ideal pricing. Tenda, however, not recommended, usually prices at $10.

These are great for setting the christmas lights on a timer; to turn off at midnight… Can't think of anything else use them for

    • And fish tanks, swimming pools. Heaps of uses via the app. And integrates to Google home. I'm using them well. Had them tucked away for a year now found ways to use them.

Christmas tree, Christmas lights, pool heater, pool Light, AV equipment, kettle, coffee machine, phone charger, powertool Battery charger, PC…
Yeah I have a problem haha

I paired up my kitchen bench LED strip light with this (socket hidden within cabinet) and activate it via Alexa.

  • Bought one for that same price $20 at Bunnings over a week ago.

  • I have a few to control my Christmas lights and to control artificial spotlights for my indoor plants. 100% happy with them.

  • No native Homekit? Better off getting the other smartplug in the four pack, works out to be cheaper per plug,
