No where to fly for years

Virgin Australia flies a lot of domestic routes. If you've got status with a foreign airline, might be the time to switch over.

    Qantas > Virgin

They're reducing add-on services and outsourcing like crazy (if Joyce knows one thing well, it's to spend as little as possible), so your opinion may change on that in 2021. In terms of their monopoly on airspace & slots at airport terminals, unchanged.

When I flew a lot a few years back, it was the opposite. I preferred Virgin a lot more. Their food was more than cold biscuits and cheese. But recently that has waned and they’re on par. I find the Qantas planes to be older and more worn too. We’ll have to see how this pans out now that Virgin are owned by someone else.

      • well those snacks wont be free on virgin anymore

        • I booked economy SYD-MEL-LST-SYD for 21st Dec. Rang them and there is onboard service still. They said it will be a sandwich and a drink (what I expected) for economy. They also said the Virgin lounge in Syd (reopened today) will be massively cutback due to covid. Only sandwiches and drinks on offer.

@Froot Loops: If you have lounge access, you can now see inside the The Club lounge in MEL.

Virgin Australia opens Melbourne’s The Club lounge to everybody

Just don’t expect free-flowing Champagne or an à la carte fine dining menu, as you’d have found in The Club prior to Virgin Australia entering administration.

For now, the food and beverage offering mirrors that found in Virgin Australia’s reopened public lounges in Sydney and Brisbane, with pre-packaged sandwiches and light bites, all-day barista coffee, and beer and wine from 12pm.
