It looks like the send email functionality is broken. If you have the same gift card in multiple denominations, it just sends out one. The customer care agent tried to resend the remaining two, but again, I received just one. So they then shared links for the other gift cards through paypal message service. Tedious but finally I have all 3 gift cards.
@AstonSingh: Wow, that has got to be seriously annoying for all those ppl that bought multiple gift cards in one order, thinking they were making it easier for themselves!

Is it just me or is it rather difficult to locate the gift cards section on PayPal? You can obviously go through the link that OP provided, but I was curious by having a browse around PayPal, and it's just hard to find.

How do I download the app for Best Restaurant on my mobile? Can't find any app for Best Restaurant Gift Card.
This is the instruction on the email on how to use it in the restaurant:
In-Store Redemption Instructions (Mobile App)
Download the app for iOS or Android Mobile Devices
Scan the card using the Best Gift Cards app
Enter the amount to be charged to the card
You don't need any app. The instructions and mobile app are for the restaurant. Just show them the card number and PIN.
You can also check your balance and expiry here.

WARNING. I've been alerted that there are two types of Best Restaurants cards - Black and Silver - and that restaurants may accept one and not the other. Is there any way of finding out which restaurants accept which?
Also, the digital egift card doesn't give a barcode for scanning. It mentions scanning the card into their app but there is no such app to be found! How are people using their Best Restaurant cards?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that issue doesn't exist anymore - it was during a time they had both cards on offer and some restaurants hadn't upgraded to the online redemption portal needed for the silver card (instead of standard eftpos swipe for the black card). Right now the only distinction seems to be this silver card (accepted everywhere) and something called a best gift certificate, which many restaurants don't accept.
Any idea how we actually use these digital egift cards at the restaurant? There is no barcode and no available app as they suggest. Feels like we've all been conned
@coldlamb: From other comments here it looks like restaurants are rejecting this method. Have you tried redeeming your gift card just with the number and PIN?
@jumbokevin: Yes, I successfully used a printout of the webpage containing just the card number and PIN at Hurricane's Grill Circular Quay.
I just purchased a couple of Best Restaurant cards for family and sent them to my email. It looks like the redemption process requires them to login with a username and password then enter the card number and PIN. Where do they get a username and password from?
I just purchased for family also and saw this at bottom of email.
But I think to redeem when gifting follow the bottom instructions of email -
"In-Store Mobile Redemption Instructions
Recipient:
Visit bestgiftcards.com.au/restaurants for a list of participating restaurants
To redeem your Best Restaurants eGift Card from a mobile device display the barcode, gift card number and associated PIN (if applicable) to the waiter at the time of purchase

However the bit where it says barcode has me lost. I would think the restaurant only needs card number and PIN?
I think it's the restaurateur that needs to log in to the best restaurants gift card system and enter the diner's gift card number to charge them??? The url address for log in has the word "partners". If someone has redeemed it please let us know.

It's been more than 24 hours but I still haven't received my cards…
WARNING: DO NOT buy these gift cards if you want to use them instantly. They are not arriving "within a few hours". People are complaining about not receiving them after 24 hours! Once you call up they say they have been issued, but it's complete bullshit. I have now been charged $425 for $500 of catch vouchers (they still haven't been emailed to me) and the item I wanted on catch is now no longer available. Complete waste of time.
I got all gift cards within 2 hours. I think PayPal has their Credit card fraud system. I usually spent several hundreds bucks via PayPal. So I think PayPal treat me as low risk users. My friend rare uses his PP account and He is even unable to buy it.
Btw, I think their system is located in US and Oz staff have no clue about this.
I thought about that, but I have been using PayPal for years. My account is almost used daily, I literally use PayPal for all online purchases due to the free return shipping. But the digital gift card department is a nightmare.
I bought 5 and had them in about 5 minutes.
I bought 10 but only received three. It's been more than 36 hours already, I will contact them on Fri arvo if I still haven't received anything.
totally agree with you. Paypal are a joke when it comes to giftcards and their timing in delivery.

Give them a call. They sort it out very quickly over the phone. They simply resent the missing gift cards and they arrived immediately, during the phone call. Very simple.
Bought a $660 item from catch using shopback (listed as 3%) and $500 in cards.
Shopback calculated my cashback as $0.75 total so unsure if the cards are effecting cashbacks but the savings may not be as big as they initially appear.
I think it will just be rejected in the end. Fairly sure that gift card will invalidate the cash back
It's looking that way which is why i thought I'd point it out cause I didn't expect it.

starting to regret my purchase of best restaurants gift card, not only a vague description of how to use it at the restaurants (scan the barcode - what barcode?) and also they said to use the app which I already searched nonexistent. if others found how to use it, please share.
sorry this reply doesnt help but very keen to hear what the purchase experience is like… i know coldlamb above said you just need to show them the card number and pin…. but as its not a physical card it feels a bit weird…. is it even an apple wallet card you can show… or you just have to show them the email on your phone with barcode & pin type of thing. I can just imagine the odd stares some waiters will give.

I went to Macchiato Sydney. The waiter tried to enter card number and pin to a handheld terminal. It didn't work. Hope I can return these cards.
as far as i can tell the establishment needs to redeem the gift card via the best restaurants merchant app, so it makes sense using a EFTPOS terminal didnt work…. this is a seriously weird process. I just Facebooked messaged BestRestaurantsAustralia to see if they can clear it up as all the website says is 'simply present the e-Gift card on your phone or print a copy to redeem'

Trying to escalate this with PayPal because I've never had to redeem gift cards with gift card no and pin, it's always be barcode to scan which I think what you'll get with plastic gift cards. So it's a bit sush and don't think it will work.
Any updates from PayPal? I have a suspicion these egift cards wont work at 99% of restaurants

Give them a call - got mine immediately just now (after buying them last Monday!!!) as she resent them while speaking to me. Wasn't put on hold either like some people above probs coz it's still relatively early in the morning.
Is very frustrating though that you have to call. Can't message them or you'll get very generic roundabout responses. Never had this happen for any other giftcard I've bought.
