I still don't understand why people like to put $ or AUD at the back of the amount?

    • +21

This graphics card cost 899 dollars.

      • +1

This. People are just writing it the way you would say it.

    • +12

I have to agree, I was taught in school at an early age to place it before the figure. Has that changed?

      • Also 899$ ozbargain will not highlight the amount on the title.

      • +1

Yep, dollar symbol goes before the figure and cent symbol (which isn’t commonly used) goes after. I’ve never seen a store put the dollar after so it’s probably still incorrect to do so

        • Hardly see the cent anymore. :(

      • +21

        People are getting dumber.

    • because sometimes they are USD.

      • +17

$899 and 899 USD are fine but 899$ is not.

        • AUD 899 or 899 AUD ?

        • That's what OP did. They wrote 899 AUD and didnt put $ anywhere. Dont think I've ever seen anyone put the $ after the number.

          • @8azinga: certain countries do that, especially the old folks.

            • @[Deactivated]: Was referring to Australia. Dont think i have ever seen the $ after the number here. OP didnt even do it.

    • +3

I think it’s the European style (as well as some other countries too).

      • +2

Just be thankful we're not seeing any bargains using the European style of comma in place of the decimal in numbers e.g. 9.999,00 for 9,999.00.

        • +3

Oh god I hate the decimal as the comma. Dunno why youre downvoted you are "on the money".

      • +1

I would not call it the European style. A lot of African and Asian countries also write the symbol to the right of the amount. I believe writing on the left was introduced by the British Empire, so all countries that were influenced by the empire write it same.

I am too old to be taught new tricks. I wrote the currency after the number all of my life, I have to go back usually and correct myself to put the sign before the number. I know it should be done, but sometimes I am just not paying attention.

    • It's either $899 or 899 AUD.

    • It is because everything is valued against the greenback other countries put their local currency indicator. The AUD is used online and before that it was mainly only the trading markets/banks etc. The $ is a carry over from when AU changed to decimal currency and for quite some time the $ and £ were both used locally until the banks gathered up as much as the old currency they could and removed them from circulation. I guess a similar thing happens with the £ and the Euro.

Is it just me or is this an ugly gpu?

  • +29

Is it just him or is this the ugly graphics cards?

  • +11

Might just be him, but is this 1x ugly graphics processing unit?

  • +2

Is it just us, or is that an uggo GPU?

    • who cares… it’s a commodity people use these days to make money 🤷‍♂️

      • +1

        I care… it’s a commodity i buy these days to spend money

  • And it's gone.

    • +32

Despite how unattractive it was, there were people who still wanted it because it had the qualities that they desired. The most beautiful story to come out of 2020 so far.

  • Well that was quick.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Managed to order one. I had my eyes out for a 3060TI but this wasn't a bad price considering the stock issues.

    • +1

This was a good deal, probably will last you the next 3 years easily

      • Yeah. I'm upgrading from a 970 so sorely needed an upgrade for the 1440p monitor purchase this year.

        • +1

This will give you a solid 1440p with 160 frames in every game I think. Alternatively 60 frames at 4k

I have a MSI 1080 which gives me that except for a few games.

          • @HumbleCat: Frames depend on the game. But this is on par with the 2080 TI in most titles. It's still a very good and capable card, albeit it should be slightly cheaper than is. Regardless, this is the best price you're going to get for a triple fan, RGB card.

          • +1

@HumbleCat: Have you heard a game called Cyberpunk 2077? I ordered one for Cyberpunk, I'd be lucky if I can get 60 at 1440p with ray tracing.

  • “Boy that escalated quickly”

  • I have my eBay discounted gift cards ready and looking forward to Boxing Day and get one of those Gigabyte or MSI 3070 for $900

    • Good luck, think you'll need it

    • I returned the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC from futu online deal due to the power adapter pin bent issue. For a $1k GPU that's just unacceptable, unfortunately I will avoid Gigabyte this generation.

      • Maybe get the MSI one instead

        • Issue is the only one available in stock literally everywhere is Gigabyte. I have been watching the MSI Gaming X Trio but it gone out of stock as quickly as it comes in stock on a couple different vendors.

  • Fking 30 min deal then it's all gone.. anwyay Is a 3060ti a good deal for 800?

    • +2

If its a dual fan, no. Around 750 would be a decent price. Remember, the inno3D 3070 dual fan was about $809, but is pretty much unobtainable.

    • I ordered a 3 fan 3060 ti from WA for $774 incl shipping (not yet received). Was a brand called "Colorful" which is not well known here but apparently a well known brand overseas. See some reviews -

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtCbYx0qtV4
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNt2IQLA9Gg

However prices seem to have gone up by $30 since I ordered it - https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bull-creek/other-electronics…. Seller has other variants too.

      • Colorful is considered second tier board partners along with inno3D, EVGA and Zotac, but they also have high end models. Not bad for the price.

      • still remember colorful suddenly became a popular video cards and motherboard brand 20 years ago, my high school time.

        • That takes me back, I think 3dfx cards were still popular back then.

I've never heard of Colorful until very recently myself, not sure why they are not more widespread here as the prices are quite good for the 3060s (not sure about the higher ranged cards).

Good card but it does run fairly hot at 80 degrees. I've undervolted to 875mv at 1935mhz and mem at 8000 and it runs 12 degrees cooler while being much quieter with better frames.

It's not as unattractive as it looks from the pics, I quite like it in my case.

160+ fps in every title at 1440p, you're dreaming.

60+ in Cyberpunk on ultra with dlss balanced and rtx on. This is with an older Ryzen 1700 CPU at 3.85ghz.

    • Interesting. This review showed it being just 68 degrees under load. Albeit this is with the fans on 100%.

Even taking into account variations between cards that's still a pretty significant difference.

      • I have pretty good cooling, but my tower sits under a desk recirculating hot air. It's enough to significantly warm the study up and be uncomfortable.
With the undervolt it's nowhere near as bad.

Fans at 100% is not realistic as it's stupidly loud.

        • Pretty easy to pick up dust from the floor as well, you might wanna open up the side panel and vacuum the inside every couple of months.

          • @snackerjoe: Yea i gave it an overhaul when i put the new GPU in, it's just a bit of a hot box under the desk unfortunately.

  • This or Xbox Series X?

    • +3

      Chalk and cheese.

You'll need to spend a lot more to build a system that makes the most of this, but it can do a lot more than a console.

    • Not a console gamer but if you are I'd suggest the xbox. The gfx card market is a mess right now and the xbox will be more of a long haul item and depreciate less. Buy a second hand gfx card in a year or two.

    • x bone any day over paying through your nose for a card that probably doesnt perform better then xbox

  • +1

I'm currently writing an app to give me real time stock levels. I really should finish it :|

  • Waiting for that sweet $809 msrp in 5 years time.

    • I previously manage to bought an ASUS dual fan 3070 brand new for $800, but because the seller can’t provide an invoice, so I cancel the order.

  • +1

Was about to post the zotac at scorptec for $879 but it seems i got the only one in stock. Hopefully wasn't an error and I actually get it.

    • Lucky you, I bought this and email Umart to confirm if this is actually in stock ( was in stock now), haven't got any reply yet.

  • +1

remember when 970's were 500 aud, i miss those days

    • +2

Probably the days when the $AUD was near at parity with the $USD. I miss those days.

    • i bought a close to top tier gtx 970 for $460 aud in november 2014. aud was at like 84c so not terribly better than it is currently. im still using the card now and am desperate to upgrade but gpu prices since the crypto craze of 2017 have gone through the roof. its looking like we'll be hard pressed buying even a 3050 at ~$500 now.

  • do you pair 3070 with 650W or 750W PSU?

    • -1

      yes

      • which one, leg?

        • +1

I was just trolling with the "yes" but 650W would be fine for the 3070. Are you wanting to overclock?

        • +1

Depends on card. Each version has their own recommended spec, but generally the heavily overclocked cards may list 750w, and rest are 650w.

  • From Umart customer service:

Apologies for the inconvenience this have caused you.

Thanks for coming back! Unfortunately, we do not have solid ETA yet but we are in direct communication with our supplier to get stocks of this item. We will definitely let you know once item is ready for pick up.

    • I ordered mine last night, and they are saying I need to wait for stock? Can someone who placed order before it shows out of stock confirm whether they actually had stock? I'll update here if I get more information from Umart.

      • Ask for a refund, and get the other RTX 3070 deal from Scorptec quick.

      • Got an order ready email today for mine. I ordered on the 15th arvo sometime (so the day before this deal was posted).

      • I just picked up mine this afternoon. Ordered around time of posting.

      • "I can understand how keen you are to receive your new graphics card. I'm sorry but we have minimal information here in customer support. We only have the information that was posted on the link on our website. As I have checked, your item is for pre order for now. We cannot provide any definite ETA because we have very limited information.

Apologies for the inconvenience this have caused you."

I asked them to cancel my order. I suspect the customer service has no idea what he is doing. I asked a simple question: is my order a pre order or not? Yet they couldn't give me a definite answer. I guess I could have waited for another two days, and then I'll know if my order will be fulfilled. But well, this is what it is.
I ended up bought the EVGA RTX 3070 from ple.

        • But he did say that it your order was currently on pre order status. He answered your question and you didn't even notice it.
