  • $30 choice gift card and swap for eBay. Hopefully no dramas like last time.

Curious why they offer $30 and $50 when the description mentions $100-$500 amounts. Not that I’m complaining.

    • What drama? Sorry might have missed it

      • +3

They (choice) used up their allocation of eBay gift cards, so pulled it from their store. After a little bit of work from TA, they re-instated it.

    • -1

Minimum $100 when you swap for certain ones

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/591323

Recipients will receive an email or SMS with a link to choose their eGift, and can swap the value of their Choice eGift Card for up to three eGift Cards from the following brands: Myer, eBay, Hoyts, Sephora, Kogan, Webjet, Lorna Jane, Witchery, Dymocks, Barbeques Galore, Harvey Norman (min.$100 value) Endota Spa, Kathmandu, Uber, Uber Eats, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Plus eGift (3 months), PlayStation Plus eGift (12 months) Xbox 3 Month Game Pass, Xbox Live – 3 Month Membership, Xbox Live – 6 Month Membership, Drummond Golf, Accor, iSubscribe, TripGift and TripGift Car.

Hoping this has changed, but based on that best you'll get is a crappy uber gift card

      • +5

$30 value ebay gc is available. Just swapped mine successfully.

      • +2

The terms for Choice GCs have been updated since that post:

        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/choice-gift-card?itm_source=O…

Buyers will receive an email or SMS with a link to choose their eGift, and can swap the value of their Choice eGift Card for up to three eGift Cards from the following brands: Myer, eBay, Hoyts, Sephora, Kogan ($50 & $100 only), Webjet, Lorna Jane, Witchery, Dymocks, Barbeques Galore, Harvey Norman (min $100 value), Endota Spa, Kathmandu, Uber, Uber Eats, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Plus eGift (3 months), PlayStation Plus eGift (12 months) Xbox 3 Month Game Pass, Xbox Live - 3 Month Membership, Xbox Live - 6 Month Membership, Drummond Golf, Accor, iSubscribe, TripGift and TripGift Car.

        • Bit better, still $50 minimum for eBay then though?

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Based on where the commas are, “$50 and $100 only” applies only to Kogan.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I swapped $30, and when I did it had numerous values from $5-$30.

        • does that mean can swap $30 for ebay?

  • +8

Choice gift card - can be swapped for ebay gift card.

  • +10

The $5 bonus and regular cashback represents 17.6% (16.6% + 1%) off an ebay $30 gift card.

21.6% (16.6% + 5%) if you first buy a $30 Choice gift card and "swap" it with an eBay gift card.

    $5.28 and $6.48 saving respectively.

    • Choice eGift Card for up to three eGift Cards from the following brands: Myer, eBay, Hoyts, Sephora, Kogan ($50 & $100 only)

Does that mean you need to buy a $50 card?

      • Bonus is eligible when making a qualifying gift card purchase of AUD $30 or more in a single transaction

        • +2

Yes but if you buy a $30 card, can you still convert it to ebay card?

          • +1

@PlagueistheCheap: Good point….. Can someone confirm this?

That would be bloody cheeky, selling a $30 Choice card and not being able to convert it to eBay.

            Edit:

            @DoaAn says he's done it.

I guess some retailer's cards have less granular values….ie starting at $50.

          • +1

@PlagueistheCheap: I have done this in deal posted two days before. Hope it's same conditions this time.

      • +6

I like your attention to details. $30 worked for me last time, I swapped to eBay GC.

      • +4

I think the Kogan one is the $50-$100 only. I swapped a $30 choice into $30 ebay today. You can choose up to 4 different cards. eBay's options started at $5.

      • +5

Can confirm that you can swap the $30 Choice GC for a $30 eBay GC. Choiice!

  • Yes, activate the offer prior to shopping everyone. I don't know if I've made that mistake and will need to contact support 🥲🥲

  • +22

Any chance on bringing Amazon gift cards to the portal TA?

    • +3

      Second that

  • +2

Sad about it, found out last time that my only card doesn't show pending transactions so I can't use it.

    • Get another card? There are plenty of free bank accounts around. Many offer signup bonuses and at least one even lets you start spending/transfering money in the day you sign up, without waiting for a physical card to arrive.
Also, having all your money in just one account is a bad idea. You should have multiple, with some backup money in at least one, so that if your main bank is down, you have a way to access money. I've had so many customers unable to buy their groceries because of their bank being down at exactly the wrong time, and they've got no other options.

      • +1

Never been an issue for me, funnily enough I only use my Visa for online stuff, I have a debit card for in person that I hardly use.

Undoubtedly I'm in the minority here, but I like the simplicity, and to be clear this it the first time I have ever had issues buying anything with this Visa card, ever. I vaguely remember this confirmation thing used by CR maybe 10 or 20 years ago? I don't want to knock on their security but it seems kind of obsolete.

    • +1

you can ring them to find out the pending transaction

      • Didn't think of this, might try it, funny how the smallest things can tip the scales when going for bonuses like this.

  • There is no bigW

    • +11

There’s one just down the road from where I live

      • +2

Do you live near a Walmart?

  • +1

I've never tried buying gift cards through Cashrewards before. There's nothing that I currently want from eBay but would buy to hold onto. What are the expiry dates on the cards? Or are they different for each retailer?

    • +2

Swapped for ebay gift card and it expires in 2 years

      • Is the swapping process easy? I'm buying the gift card for someone and I know they'll want eBay… am I better off swapping it for them or should I let them do it themselves?

I'll nominated my own email as the recipient

        • +1

Really easy, just need to view the gift card in the email then swap it

      • +2

        actually expires in 3 years

      • Can you add it to an eBay account? Or will I have to remember I’ve got it and search through my emails next time I want it…

        • Not sure, I just downloaded the PDF

    • When do I have to make the swap by?

  • Please read the terms below carefully as it will save a lot of questions

Hi OP, is there anything I should read before preceding? 🙄

  • Whats the expiry on ebay giftcards?

    • 3 years

    • 3 years

    • +13

3 years. But, if you bind it to your account by spending it partially (even if it's just a cent of it), the balance of the gift card is attached to your account and doesn't expire.

      • Good to know. I should not have swapped the full amount in one go…

        • +1

I think they are referring to using an eBay gift card, not swapping the Choice gift card. Once you use an eBay gift card any remaining balance is tied to the eBay account i.e. can't be used on another eBay account.

      • Can you bind an eBay GC to an eBay account without spending it?

        • +1

I have never found a way to do this. Maybe buy something for 1 cent.

      • Thanks, can we also use the giftcards along the regular 20% ebay discount codes as well? I think some sites like catch doesnt allow you to do that, either giftcard or discount voucher, cant use both at once.

        • Gift cards can be used in conjunction with eBay coupons.

        • That is not true for catch, I used a gift card last night along with Unidays code (10%), and bought the $80 sim card deal. I think you can only use 1 discount code with catch though.

  • Is there a time frame you need to swap the Choice gift cards by?

  • +4

The pre-auth means I can't purchase. Latitude doesn't show descriptions for pending transactions.

    • +4

download the "Latitude App" on your mobile, it will show the pre-auth code.

      • Thanks - this seems to have worked. I know it didn't for Suncorp rewards previously (the app or the website).

  • Isn't ZIP 10% offer way better right now…

    • +1

You can spend as little as $30 and still get $5 + $1.50

      So a profit of $6.50

    • +3

      No, lower discount and restrictions:

      1. Saturday
      2. Tap
  • +1

    Thanks mate!

  • +1

Thanks TA. Bought $100 Choice gift card and got tracked shortly after

  • Can you not pay with your available cashback like at shopback?

    • +1

Yeah nah, they made you link credit card here :(

  • +1

Bought $30 Choice gift card and just found out that Kogan and Kathmandu aren't in the list of stores to swap to even though they were advertised on the picture of the card …

    • Coz minimum value is $50 for Kogan.

      • Thanks looks like I can only use it for eBay then

        • I thought eBay also min $50 to swap?

          • +1

@Scythic: eBay is still available for the $30, with minimum $5 swap value. So still pretty good I reckon

          • @Scythic: eBay is $30, just swapped

    • +1

      They are, $50 minimum though

    • Very frustrating… was gonna buy one for Kathmandu

eBay is probably the best bet unless you don't shop as much there

  • Can’t find the choice gift card in the app, only web based purchase?

    • +3

Correct… all True Rewards GCs are currently available only via desktop and mobile browsers (not CR app).

      • +1

        Thanks TA

      • I swear I used the app today. There was a banner for it. Could be wrong… The banner might have brought up a website in my browser.

  • +2

Thanks! Redeemed it for Ubereats. Now to treat myself to a guilty pleasure

  • +8

Another one added to the Bonus Cashback Master Thread - keep them coming TA!

    • +2

      Great work. Will do :)

    • +2

Super job! so that I don't have to keep track writing them down myself

  • It's not letting me not add the 0.50c "optional" SMS.
How do I get around this?

    • +2

Don't put your mobile number in

      • Thanks, the problem was I had to write something in the message box (it didn't allow me to leave it blank).

  • no $30 giftcards for UberEats, minimum $50 :(

    • +1

Buy a $30 Choice GC and swap it for UberEats

      • thanks :)

didn't know that Choice GC includes UberEats, only see those logos on card! :)

        • Can you confirm if this works? Is there a minimum when swapping for eBay?

  • Hi TA, Question please:

I received the same offer like 45mins ago via email, already activated and purchased the GC.

Is this specific offer from this deal is different than the email offer that I have received earlier this afternoon?

    Thanks

    • +2

Same promo, just posted it before the newsletter went out to our database :)

      • TA just wondering will the credit card used be stored in your account. If so then how can you remove it.

        Cheers bud

        • +2

Hi dins. Cashrewards is not involved in the transaction process. Once you click 'Shop Now' on Cashrewards, your transaction is handled in total by True Rewards (or TCN for certain GCs). Hope this helps. Thanks :)

For queries regarding the purchase of your Gift Card, contact the team at True Rewards on 1800 850 739 Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 9am - 5pm AEST, or email [email protected] Review all terms and conditions of this Gift Card prior to finalising your order.

  • What 4 digit code are you asking when linking card? I linked my coles prepaid mastercard and theres no such code showing

    • Should receive a code to enter.

      • You mean like a OTP to phone or email? It says there should be a 4 digit code in the transaction details in card

        • +1

Log into your credit card/bank and check the entry that just went through. There is a 4 digit number in the description next to the $1 charge.

    • You look at your recent transactions and it will be in the description of the vendor in the most recent transaction,

      • 23/12/2020 Auth-Crd xxxxxxxx Mcht DIGITAL -$1.00

This is what shows up. I obviously replaced the 8 digits with x as it is part of the card number that is showing not a 4 digit code. And some banks dont even show pending transactions so not the best way to verify

        • +1

Odd. Mine showed up as "DIGITAL RE* TR #### CO +614…………."
The hashes were the 4 digit code.
Funnily enough after the +61 looks like a mobile number, but I ain't ringing that.
