DJ&A Shitake Mushroom Crisps 3 x 150g $6.99 ($1.56/100g) Delivered @ Costco (Membership Required)

600

DJ&A’s shitake mushroom crisps are a delicious mix of whole and cut shitake mushrooms, crunchy and ready to eat straight out of the bag. The brand use a superior cooking process called vacuum cooking, which uses less oil and cooks the mushrooms at a lower temperature to preserve the natural mushroom goodness and delicious taste. A 150g bag of DJ&A shitake mushroom crisps is made from about 420g of fresh mushrooms, making this snack naturally nutrient dense!

These crisps are also vegan, non-GMO, kosher and halal

(1 Bag for the similar price—around $6, when it was on sale at the store)

    • Was going to post this :)

      • Ditto. Burned into my memory whenever I see these mushrooms mentioned.

These aren't very good. I wouldn't recommend it.

They are not bad at all (in my opinion).

      • I quite like it. The mushroom jerky is better tho imho

    • I didn't enjoy these either.

Gotta love Ozbargain peeps these days. Down votes if they don't agree with something.

I can understand why it's on sale because they taste very average at best. I don't know how they make it taste salty but at the same time tasteless with shitake mushrooms which are supposed to be very fragrant.

      • yeah i kind of agree that they taste average, i thought they were a bit salty but not bland, just sickening if you ate too many, they were ok but not good enough to buy more, plenty of good snacks out there

Worth double checking the origin of mushroom products in Costco, all the ones I have looked at were from China.

    • +1

As opposed to how Coles and Woolworth imports them? or the manufacturer DJ&A decides ?

    • Local and imported. So take your best guess.

    • +3

Your life must be so hard trying to avoid all products from China.

  • These are ok but love their crispy broccoli florets, though doesn’t look like costco stocks them

    • +2

Costco do stock them, instore only

      • Wait really? I've never seen the broccoli ones at my costco before, only the mushrooms :(

        • The moorabin store has the asparagus and the broccoli, purchased last weekend

  • tried them once, tasted like chicken salt.

    • +5

      Is that a bad thing?

      • Lol my thoughts exactly

  • Was going to post earlier, but note source: imported ingredients and Aus (probably just the salt).

    • … So, that's bad?

      • Can be; not just China, e.g. see use of chemicals in India and developing countries. Why risk it when for e.g. you can buy affordable fresh Aus shiitake mushrooms ($5.50 for 300g at my grocers).

  • Failed to place order.

They are as hard as stones , you may need a trip to the dentist after a packet.

  • Anyone got a recipe to make dried mushrooms, I am keen to try using Aldi mushrooms to make crisps.

    • +1

I make them in a dehydrater every now and then. Use dried shiitake slices from the Asian supermarkets, marinade in a mix of tamari / maple / liquid smoke / Vegeta (msg and salt) / pepper / a bit of sesame oil / water, dehydrate for half a day and they don't last long since they are so morish.

      • That sounds good mate, will give a try, I was thinking about Aldi's mushroom, they are tasty fresh,

I don't recommend this. You can get 150g for 9.99 or sth

    • +4

And you dont recommend 3x150g for 6.99 :?

      • …and that's the dehydrated weight.

  • "Sorry, there is insufficient stock for your cart."

  • They are ok but prefer their Veggie Crisps Mixed Vegetables

  • This is great price as Coles has them for $5 each. They are ok snacks for a change but the mushroom jerky is way better if you can get them. It is the next level.

The quasi-MSG in these gives me palpitations.
