      ?

    • I didn't know the correlation between a Android user and a IOS user.

    • +6

      Triggered you more obviously

    • +1

If your phone choice somewhat resembles a Ford vs Holden battle… don’t worry, you’ll grow out of it.

    Announced 2018, September 12

    • +3

Still a decent phone for a Apple phone remember that still a lot of people on iPhone 7 and 8.so is a welcome upgrade to get a iPhone XR.

      • +1

And likely to get updates well after most similarly priced Android phones released recently.

        • +2

bigger range of cases as well….

          • @zombie hunter: And prettier colours. And it's curves are curvier but not that curvy.

    • +2

Same single core performance as the upcoming 2021 Android flagships with SD888.

It holds its own despite being two years old.

    • Nice only 2 years old

  • Anyone got one and can comment on the notch in daily use?

    • It’s totally a non-issue. Most of the time it’s integrated into the status bar, and is the most minor of clips on the edge of landscape video.

    • +2

I had one mate. Tbh you dont notice it after a while. If memory serves me right i think its when you watch videos in landscape that it becomes a little annoying. Hope that helps.

    • Not an issue. Very good phone

    • +3

Typing on one right now. It’s noticeable. I don’t like it much at all but oh well. I’d like for the notch to go completely

    • +4

The notch is terrible but I can live with it because Face ID is so good and accurate for app login and password manager app.

      • +3

I’m not fussed about the notch but big shout out to Face ID being the hotness.

Initially I thought Face ID was a gimmick but after using it is is practical and excellent. Recognition is as fast as you are picking up the phone and it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing gloves or fingers are rough from working in the yard. I’d honestly never go back to a fingerprint based login.

      • -1

Not if you wear a mask (like in Victoria). In that case, Android (or older iPhone) Fingerprint reader is a much better option.

    • -1

The notch is so ugly and you can't buy a phone without one. iPhone 7 Plus does everything I need but was considering upgrading this year to the new one, because it looks fast and powerful. But I'm not going to get one purely because of that atrocious design decision.

  • +5

Wait for some deals on iPhone 11 as it’s a much better phone compared to iPhone XR.

    • Absolutely. Jumping on it if we go down to $900 again like 11.11

    • +1

Isn’t just a slight speed and camera upgrade? the screen is exactly the same?

  • +6

if there is anyone out there consideirng "upgrade" their iphone x to this iphone xr, do NOT do this. iphone x is a better phone!

    • why is that?

      • +2

        See for yourself….
        https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9320&idPhone2…

But the short answer is the OLED screen/resolution in the X.

The phone up (slightly) from the X is the XS (not the XR).

        • Depends on what you need really…. some cons and pros between them.
For example iPhone XR has an e-SIM, iPhone X doesn't.

Personally I had the iPhone X back in the day, and moved to the XR and it worked out better for me with the eSIM feature for travel with FlexiRoam (when we could travel that was!).

  • A friend of mine swears by his. Got it about a year-and-a-half ago, still does everything as it should. Really, Android can't hold a candle to Apple in this regard, they stay relevant and usable for far longer

  • How does this compare to a samsung galaxy s9+? Kind of wouldn't mind trying an iphone…

    • If you want to try an iphone and you dont store tons of stuff in your phone, i would suggest to buy the 64gb version which is even cheaper.

I use an X which is slightly older but not worse than this XR. I have no any issue with my X except for the battery which is due for a replacement.

  • got one for my mum to replace her iphone 6, cheers op.

btw, delivery eta is near the end of january 2021.

    • However I ordered a 128gb Coral on 25 Dec and it’s now awaiting pickup by Toll from JB’s warehouse - so delivery is a lot better than they stated

      • Mine too! That's great, thanks for the tip.

  • LOVE my iphone xR - no issues whatsoever, so many other positives too - it's a good all-rounder phone for the general user.

I would say though that sometimes i wish i had a smaller screened phone, so i'm waiting out for a 2021/22 version that is the same size as an iphone 12 mini.

Went into store today but it was all sold out. Out of stock everywhere… I had to order it online and get it in late Jan next year…

    • It was never offered as an Instore pickup - it’s only available online with the January delivery

    • The good news is they appear to be shipping them already - mine’s market as ready to pickup by Toll Express

  • FYI, I bought on 26th and got it today, pretty fast.
