      • We've rec'd ours, this arvo & have spent a very DISAPPOINTING evening battling its many issues (slowness, cursor jumping, in the midst of composing, less than smooth docking & undocking as well as restarts of YouTube videos in progress during the transitions, etc.)

I feel I've paid a premium price for a system that isn't performing to my expectations (based on other experiences with the TF-101, eg, in retail shops, before we bought from you.

As we did NOT "volunteer" to be testers of this system, eg, for ASUS or yourselves, but had hoped to be able to put it to use in the weeks ahead…those hopes dashed by its issues…

We expect you to arrange pick-up & reg'd shipment back AND refund our payment, in FULL.

What do we do to achieve these ends, please?

        • I am happy to continue to respond all of your inquiries on here (in public) but to be honest it is probably going to be much better for you to give us a call tomorrow so we can assist you with this. I have said from the word go that if someone wants to return the item for a refund they need to pay the freight. If, on the other hand you have a faulty unit, I am happy to organise pickup of the faulty unit and return of a new unit to you at my cost - but I am not covering your freight to just test the product in your home only to find out you don't like it.

    • That's fine, I'll buy the one you overlooked :D

      • if you would like to buy one, there will almost certainly be a few available. We kept about 5 spare to allow for stuff-ups and DOA models. So let me know if you want to be notified once the dust has settled.

        • kicking myself from my previous stinginess, please keep me in mind if you get any more 16gb non-docked ones in for the $279 price!

I was going to PM you but cant work out how to do it on here.

  • @REP
Your 16 GB price is good. However, I want to get a GST refund when travelling overseas, could you please over write the price (>=$300).Thanks.

    • Unfortunately these units are sold out now, but the 32gb models are over $300 - so you can do the GST refund when travelling overseas.

  • All 16gb units are sold out, sorry OZB'ers - but we still have a little less than 50 units left of the 32gb with keyboard (& battery) dock.

    Thanks for your support

  • +5

To all OZB'ers, as a thankyou to all your feedback and support, the OZBARGAIN coupon code has been extended out to the full www.asusnotebooks.com.au product range. If you have purchased a notebook since we posted this bargain, let us know and we will refund you the 6.7% discount that the coupon code provides.

    Cheers,

    • Awesome deal. Wont hold back anymore, gonna have one lol.

  • Nice, got myself a 16GB earlier this morning.

  • Still wait for my order process , so nervous, how long does it take to Mel ?

    • overnight from when we ship with aae

  • Just got one thanks… look forward to seeing it :)

I was one of the suckers waiting online for shoppingexpress and still wasn't able to buy one with quantities disappearing so quick. Even spent the weekend trying to do price match.

$379 for 16gb and dock and I'm pretty much paying extra $50 for 32gb model… done deal.

Hope the refurb is good as new!

  • Would be good to hear from those (who bought them) when it arrives.
Curious to see what refurbished quality is like. Please post back!

    • to all purchasers, I am interested in hearing your experiences. I left work at about 4.30pm, and we got almost all of the orders out at that stage, I hope we got all the orders out for everyone. Please let me and the forum know about the condition on the arrival of your tablet

      • i have reply my correct address to [email protected], but i haven't receive any updating email for my order. is that would be alright? my Order Number: #319 and Order Date: 11th Dec, 2011 - 4:04 PM

      • I just received the two I ordered this morning. I also cancelled my Shopping Express order because I wanted a 32GB.

I opened up one of the boxes and everything seems OK so far, but I have yet to turn it on. The tablet looks new but there isn't any plastic wrapping. Also, there's a note inside the box saying it's a refurbished product. There's also no manuals inside.

I haven't opened the second box yet, but since I was planning to give that to someone as a gift, the lack of any manuals inside and the warranty card saying it's refurbished kinda kills it. Is it possible to send this second unit back for a refund? And is it still returnable if I open it up? I'm keeping the first unit for myself.

Also, can you confirm that all the refurbished units don't come with manuals?

        • can you please update us the condition. any scratches? tax invoice provided?

        • Nah, I'm fine :P

      • +1

Just received my 16GB Transformer. Great condition, looks like new except for a few finger prints which wiped off easily.

Put it through some initial testing (screen, sound, camera, charging wifi) and it works fine.

No scratches on the screen or on the body.

Mine came with the User manual (small booklet), refurbished warranty sheet and a sheet titled tips for using your Eee Pad, in addition to the power adapter and USB charging cable.

        • great! thanks for the update.

        • Interesting, I didn't get anything else besides the warranty sheet. I'm tempted to open up the other box now.

I fired up an email to Clayton and he said there's a restocking fee of 10% and it must be sent back unopened. However, the rep said in an earlier post that the item can sent back for a full refund minus shipping costs. So which is it?

Hi Daedalus, so far of the 10 or so I have opened up, all have been as new (no marks or scratches). We don't open up each and every one to check, however, if you are disappointed with what you receive you can send it back for a full refund less postage.

        • +1

Some come with manuals and some come without… A full refund is possible for OZB'ers without restocking fee providing the box is in tact, not damaged and all packaging is included. Unfortunately we can't refund the freight component.

        • Cool. Well I'm going to see if any friends or family members want to buy it off me first to reduce any costs for me and you. If not, I'll email you in a couple of days.

        • that is terrible..hope mine will arrive in pristine condition

        • if you have to pay return postage, i'll give you $279 for the unopened one kheob including postage to adelaide, make life a bit easier.

        • @Sleepycat3, how's your tablet. working fine? just curious now. mine not arrived yet.

        • .

        • Thanks Sleepycat3. That is a good sign. I bought this as a present to my mother in law. just wanna make sure that everything is alright. still waiting mine. hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow

      • I've only used these tablets for brief intervals at HN and the screen definitely isn't as smooth to use as the iPad which is effortless. In saying that though, it's not like you need to stab the Transformer to get it to register your finger - just very light pressure.

      • mine arrived in good condition, as described, no scratches

  • The first thing I did when I bought my transformer was to put a anti-glare (matt finish) screen protector. Not only the glare, gritty touch was gone. It's been a pleasure swiping on that screen since then.

hi ozb'ers (those who are still watching this thread).

What constitutes a bargain, does it just have to be cheaper than anywhere else? Or does it have to stand out against equivalent products from other brands?

i.e. if I were to get in 50 new ASUS X54HY-SX091V Notebooks and do them for $599 with a free bag & shipping, which is cheaper than anywhere online for that model, is that a bargain? or does it fail because there is acer/dell/hp notebooks cheaper with the same specs?

    Cheers,

    ASUSNotebooks

    • +2

Technically that would be a bargain, however you may find other members commenting that competitors have cheaper comparable models elsewhere. That would not be ground for negging the deal but you may not get a strong positive response either.

I think everyone appreciates when reps are clear about how much stock they have available for a deal, no one likes when a company strongly promotes a deal and then doesn't have enough stock to supply it so I would suggest mentioning that you have 50 available and marking the deal as expired when they sell out.

  • Too disturbed by the editing above to even ponder.

  • didnt received mine yet. just wonder how long it'll take from Hobart to Adelaide

    • rep, could you please check this order #335. didnt arrived yet as going overseas in these few days

      • Hi Johndoe123. I have scanned it with AAE - here is the result. If you are happy for me to paste the con note number into this forum I can, or otherwise put a query through our site and I will reply it to you privately. They should have delivered today but I guess Adelaide AAE is busy with Christmas (maybe you can collect from depot if it is urgent).

      • got yr email. cheers

  • Hi all, if you have not received your tablet or laptop yet, don't worry they are all shipping today. Yesterday the AAE courier dropped in at 3pm to pick up the orders but we had more to process so they said they would come back at 5pm - they didn't. I have called them twice and should be collected today. Sorry for the delay.

    • did AAE came to pickup? my wife gave email to clayton but no response on tracking number info

        (See our comment, below)

Ours or its docking K/B sucked & continues to suck now, as I write to you…
While NOT doa, it's unusable, & I expect you to take it back - at NO cost
to us… and REFUND 100% of the $$$ we paid for it.

(Too many additional issues to list… i wonder (again) if these are from
the other vendor's "possibly dropped" pallet load, etc.)

I can't live with this level of malfunction, & - quite frankly - testing it
has put me right off buying "maker refurbished" equipment, despite
some very positive experiences doing so again.

I did NOT buy this to "volunteer" to become a tester for ASUS or your
        company.

I hope others got better gear.

In past, I've had mostly good experiences with ASUS products,
but if ASUS has done the refurbishing of this unit, I'm less
impressed with their name, than I've been until tonight.

Where do we go from here, thanks…? (eg, can you arrange
& pay for its safe reg'd return? …and assure us, that we'll
get our payment back in full?)

        • +1

Im sorry, but your issues are a little confusing for me to actually determine what is wrong. Can you please remove all of the opinions on the product and tell me exactly what (in your opinion) is wrong with this device. Do you have a faulty keyboard? To be honest it sounds like you simply don't like the device or the android operating system.

If you want to return the product for refund then you need to pay for shipping as I mentioned earlier in the thread. Unless you want ASUS to organise the repair in which case they can pick up the product, fix it and return it to you for free. This is why I am trying to determine if it is a faulty unit or otherwise.

I have an inbox full of happy customers, several customers buying extra ones after receiving their first. I have one other customer with a faulty keyboard dock - only 1 so far that is faulty that I am aware of (out of about 100 orders).

u So, I'm using one of th 32gb models (with docking keyboard)

We saw some problems getting it to work, or "register" with Google (!)

What happens, eg, when WiFi & (in other models) 3G are Off…
    does 'can't sign-in to Google" mean "can't do off-line stuff"…?!?

If so, I WOULDN'T want one for myself.

ISSUES (in first hour of use, just out of the box):

    1. Had to enable Sync (at some level) to get it to Sign-in at Google

    2. WiFi much worse - eg,showing much less sig strenght than an Acer or an ASUS in same spot & hands

    3. Very SLOW to show changes to this comment (in compose mode); gotta wait for each letter to appear

    4. Docking & Undocking very IF-y (it took way to long o get the things to mate,
and docking caused re-starting of YouTube videos)

    5. Docked keyboard is IGNORING key-presses, as if we must hold keys down for longer periods to be "heard"

    6. We haven't discovered how to make use of any multi-tasking features.

    7. It's taking WAY TOO LONG to enter this comment, compared to either netbook.

    8. the thought of being asked to PAY to ship this animal back to ASUS Notebooks for our $$$'s back is not a happy one.

    9. Cursor often ends up in unepected places.. even outside the text box I'm composing in.

    10. Shift key is often ignored (yielding lower case, instead of upper)

DISAPPOINTING "EYE CANDY" not sufficiently functional or - when workng - fast to justify investing $$$ or time in IMO.

For anyone else, who bought one, I hope it's just this one that's not been Refurbished properly or completely, ie so that most of you will have muc better experiences than we've had tonight.

WRIte-OFF an evening we could have gotten work done in… and now we have to arrange shipping it back, etc.!!!
    No Joy!!!

    • Opinion-free list of what we consider ISSUES with our unit:

      1. We saw its cursor jumping, while composing - with our fingers far from Docking Keyboard unit's touch-pad (& -no- external mouse, etc. plugged-in); so, in the midst of adding new text at the end of a textbox, we'd find some of that text appearing some lines up or even before the start of the text in the same textbox.

We'd also find some our recently typed text appearing in the search/URL box of the browser, necessitating stopping, erasing & repositioning the cursor… at cost of additional time.

(These cursor-hops just -don't- happen on our netbooks or a notebook, in same office.)

      1. (our point 2) That Keyboard was not responsive to our typing style (which is NOT the case when we use ASUS netbooks, Acer netbooks, & HP laptops, in same office, on same desk, with same hands, etc.) We had to consciously PRESS LONGER for keys to be noticed / displayed on-screen.

      2. (our point 3) Even when a key was displayed on-screen, there was a longer than expected delay - from time key was pressed, to time we saw its letter/digit (etc.) on-screen.

Could this be due to WiFi quality issue (mentioned in previous message)? Eg, does each character go, first, to OzBargain… to be sent back for on-screen display?

If so, it's performance is significantly & noticably -less- than the level of [netbook/notebook] WiFi performance that we're used to (in the same place, all our -other- computers work fine, connected to same WiFi access point, from this distance, etc.). Is that normal for these units? If so, there was no warning of this limitation in ASUS's or your product description(s).

Could we have affected anything, eg, by attempting to adjust settings to protect our privacy? (Eg, we initially disabled a Sync parameter, that may have impeded the unit from completing a sign-in with Google.)

      1. (our point 4) It was not as easy as expected to dock tab' to keyboard unit, from the start; I suspect that this was -not- a DOA unit; rather a unit that's been used for a longer period, before failing. Maybe its "less than optimal" docking is due to wear & tear, which occurred -before- refurbishing…?

In any case, it took us quite a while to very carefully fit tab' into the dock, each time; removing it is easier, but either transition seems to disrupt a playing YouTube, by causing it to restart from the start.

Have I documented enough anomalies to justify my complaint of this unit being sufficiently "out of tolerance" to warrant repair / replacement?

If you have already seen -one- faulty keyboard unit, I think we have a precedent; my experiences would not be unique. (I'd guess, that the docking issue, for one, is more likely to be in the k/b unit.)

PS I intend to retry this, in the morning, before ringing you to discuss.

      • If rep asks mod to edit this thread again, I hope there will be pause for thought. Free exchange of experiences related to deals is vital for Ozbargain. The above description especially does not bespeak a DOA unit, refurbished 'as new', but let other Ozbargain readers/customers/potential customers discuss and judge freely.
Mr.asusnotebooks man, kindly don't become a job for Julian Assange.

        • +1

I never asked the mod to edit the thread the first time. If the keyboard / dock is faulty, it is not an issue to repair it or replace it. However, is the dock and screen in perfect (as new) physical condition or not? That is what almost all of the refurbished units look like and that shows you whether or not they are doa repaired units or units that have been used for some time. What is your order number, I will call ASUS and find out what this unit was faulty for and if it was fixed or "no fault found".

  • Ordered 12th at 7PM. I would of expected it to arrive in Melbourne by now if using AAE express. When should I expect it ?

    • anyone wanting to know where their package is, give me your order number so I can track and trace

  • +1

Got it now thanks! Box comes with manual and tips sheet and reburb warranty. The condition of the 16Gb Transformer is great, no finger prints, scratches or marks. Been using the wifi for the last hour without drop out and browers / markets are all working nicely.

Thanks for this at a good price!

    • good for you, mine not arrived yet. Rep, please check where is my item? Thanks

      • anyone wanting to know where their package is, give me your order number so I can track and trace

        • thanks for the reply. got yr email

  • Have you received my returned tablets yet? It's been a week.

    • No I haven't received them yet, how did you send them do you have a con note number? How did you send them?

      • I sent them registered post with insurance, however, nothing is showing up when I put in the consignment number: 521008028013

        Maybe tomorrow.

        • No worries, I will keep an eye on it.

        • Hmmm… still nothing showing up. It should definitely have gotten there by now since I sent it last Tuesday. Must be the Christmas delays.

        • Ok, looks like it's on its way to you today. Please process a refund ASAP. Thanks.

  • i have returned mine last wednesday and i have sent email to James Murdoch to ask whether the return tablet has arrived yet and got no respones.

    • Hi There, sorry.. it's very mad here (last week before christmas). Can you give me the con note number from the order when you sent it back to us? We have still not received any tablets from customers (I am aware of at least 2 customers returning tablets on this forum (yourself and kheob) and possibly |\/| as well. However, I have not received any of them. Unless we have a tracking number it is impossible for us to know where they are. When they turn up we will be in touch with involved.

      • rep, any plan to resell returned item at super cheap price?

  • A T Armstrong signed for the package this morning. Can you please process the refund before Christmas? Thanks.

    • Still no response…

      • i have the same problem. they just don't reply my email…and i just give them a call and they said mine just arrived today, they will talk to James to arrange the refund for me.

        • Yeah, the lack of communication is killing me. Let me know when you get a refund please.

        • Hi Kheob, we are a very busy retail store (3 days before Christmas), my apologies for the delay. We have received your goods and informed the accounts dept to process a refund. Dannel your refund will be processed as well, all though I am not sure who you are, the transformers which just turned up are all being checked for missing things and damage before we process the refund.

        • Awesome, thanks. Hopefully it goes through before Boxing Day.

  • Thanks man, CHEN YUAN, thats my name. and my order number #319.

    • Yes yours has been received in original packing, your refund is being processed.

  • Just received my refund. Cheers.

  • me too. thanks

  • Just thought I'd post my comments. I had issues with my tablet that arrived, dead pixel plus issues with wi-fi GPS. James ended up doing a swap with a another unit from a branch locally in Brisbane. He obviously is a busy man considering the xmas period but he was helpful enough to sort out my issues. Thanks for that. I'm very happy with the unit :)
