I'd rather pay a bit more and not support Kogan.

I'd rather pay a bit more and not support Kogan.

Also, for a bit more one can get the (at least two years - maybe more) Australian Consumer Guarantee.

Does Apple Watch warranty sold in Australia valid for 2 years ? Do you have a link ?

        • +1

          Australian consumer law protects you.

I’d rather pay a bit more and for Kogan to go away.

    • Whats wrong with Kogan? did something happen?

    Does this have ECG?

    • +1

      SE doesn’t have ECG.

    • +1

ECG not supported in Australia on my Series 5 as well

  • +5

Kogan Hong Kong is not an Apple Reseller.
These Apple Watches are not covered by the Australian Consumer Guarantee.

    • but if it says 'This product is covered by the Customer Charter and comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.' on the product page?

  • Does jb price match with Kogan?

    • +1

They do if it's Australian stock, Kogan one is a direct import so doubtful they will in this case

  • +1

yea. $20 makes such a small difference in overall price

but i agree. never bought anything from Kogan and planning to keep it that way

  • Quick question I’m hoping someone could answer me. Does JB Hi-Fi sell watches in store anymore? They have promos on their website but I cannot see any detail on stock. I don’t see any deals on the Series 6 watch and the prices on eBay seem to be more than what is on the Apple store (eg. 44mm Graphite + Celluar with Milanese loop is $1450 approx vs $1189 on the Apple store).

Is there no choice right now but to pay the $1189? Or is it possible to negotiate at least Apple Care chucked in with a retailer atm? I noticed Bing Lee seemed to stock it but they are showing as sold out.

Wanting the loop as the sport band irritated me when I owned a series 3 and it seems more durable, also need the Series 6 as it has ECG and I need to monitor my heart as well as blood oxygen levels more closely.

Just in case you don’t know - ECG won’t work out of the box. The hardware is in the watches but gets disabled for us when you activate the watch with an Aussie Apple account because Apple never got TGA approval for it.

There are various ‘hacks’ to enable it. (Search YouTube, google) but obviously Apple don’t officially support it here so if you get it working and then it breaks one day, you’re on your own.

      • Oh damn, if I buy it from an overseas online dealer (like here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1594623-REG/apple_m07…) will I be covered in Australia? I assume they haven’t disabled the ECG on this stock.

(It costs around $1,250 to ship to AU but if it’s still covered by warranty and has ECG I would pay the $100-150 premium).

I have NordVPN (probably n00b question) but will I have to set up my iPhone to download the Health app from NZ, US etc App Store or so long as the watch hasn’t been disabled I should still see it in the app?

The ECG feature is a dealbreaker for me, I recently found out these watches had that feature. I was born with a heart murmur and I also used to train with a running squad and one of the athletes dropped down and had to be sent to hospital from an attack caused by an arrithymia (he never had any heart issues before).

While obviously this will not be the same as being plugged into a machine in hospital it will provide some peace of mind.
