  • last chance for clearance…

    • +1

Finally decided to go with the mask rush

      hopefully as a backup

  • Fair price

  • Add 4 into the cart for a 17% discount.

  • -1

Does anyone really need the KN95's anyways? Still mostly for actual mask requirements like sanding, etc.

    • +1

If you travel by airplanes itโ€™s still better to use N95

      • +1

Not too much plane travel. Last flight was back in Feb getting back in. AFAIK, nobody changes masks anyways, even if its a 10 hr flight.

        • +2

I can't remember exactly how much better the k95/n95 masks are, maybe 3% higher efficacy.

That's not huge, but probably worth it for a long haul flight. You can change your own mask as often as you want.

I suspect the virus sheds mainly though the mouth (from the host) and then is picked up mainly through the nose's ace2 receptors, so if someone is a carrier, then at least their mouths are covered when wearing a mask (correctly or not).

Obviously a correctly worn mask is best for everyone.

    • If there was covid in my suburb I'd wear the 95 mask over the normal mask.

  • Wow can't even give masks away, everyone trying to get rid of them

    • +1

Not everyone. Bricks and mortar shops are still selling them for like $10/mask.

I do prefer mask that's tied around the head instead of just ears thought and those are harder to find.

You are just being a selfish buffoon at this point, so let me spell it out for you and anyone else wondering.

Viruses are simple "dumb" strands of DNA/RNA that only know how to replicate/survive by hijacking the cellular machinery (which the virus itself doesn't contain) of the specific cell that it's "designed" for (respiratory cells within the lungs in this case). Without having access to these cells, the virus dies and ceases to exist (remember there are millions of these cells in respiratory droplets, so the virus can survive outside of the body within these droplets for a surprising amount of time).

The vast majority of symptoms from a virus come from the (innate/general) immune system doing damage control in order to fight off the infection, which can be a problem if your own cells are being infected faster than your body can fight off the virus, however this period can take a few days to escalate and ramp up while a person is ALREADY INFECTED, thus the person may not have (or notice) any symptoms during this window of time, and can unknowingly spread their fluids through coughing/sneezing/yawning and touching their mouth/nose (due to non-COVID related phenomena), and it's also worth noting that your eyes are connected to your RESPIRATORY tract.

After days to weeks of being infected, the (active/specific) immune system has created its own antibodies to target this infection specifically and is finally able to fight the virus faster than it can spread (FYI - this is basically what the vast majority of vaccines do, they train/prepare the body ahead of time to fight an infection using a "disabled" version that is non infectious, so for if/when that person is infected, their body already knows how to specifically treat it). On that note, herd immunity can be seen using vaccinations where if enough people are vaccinated/immune, then the virus is unable to spread within a population because it isn't able to move around enough.

And here's where the whole fcuking point of masks comes in. Because COVID is so highly infectious, it's able to very easily spread between individuals (surface droplets or otherwise; I'm not dismissing aerosols, but you'd be surprised how easily people cross contaminate their hands with their phone/clothes/etc.), and the fact it's so contagious, leads to it being able to infect others even during this brief window of being asymptomatic. If everyone wears a mask regardless, it's essentially a sihtty herd immunity (which can't be achieved via vaccinations due to the time period that trials need to so the government can do it's best to give you autism, I mean run the trials before being rendered safe in not just the short-term, but the long-term as well; for context, the annual flu vaccination typically begins trials <1 year from when he target viral strand has been identified identified).

It's also worth noting the the more times a virus is able to replicate/spread throughout a population, the higher chance it has to mutate/change enough and potentially render a vaccine (and potentially those that have caught it and already had their active immune system trained to fight it) useless, which I highly doubt could happen, but it's why things need to be taken seriously (wear a fcuking mask and wash your hands) before pandemics break out and wipe out not only the vulnerable, but potentially the "invulnerable" as well.

So there you go, hope you learnt something. If someone could correct me wherever I'm wrong with GOOD evidence (there's been a lot of garbage scientific papers recently with horrible experimental methods, please don't just cherry pick bad studies/evidence to suit your agenda, because I've been seeing plenty of that in the last year as well, be an actual scientist and do your best to prove your agenda/hypothesis wrong and view both sides of studies from multiple, reliable, peer reviewed sources), please do.

Wear a damn mask and use your brain before Australia ends up like the absolute shitfest that's become of the US/UK, having the government enforce this just shows how few people have a brain or are just too selfish to give a fcuk.

Anti-maskers still doing "research" on their phone while taking a dump I see…

    • Actually it was mandatory in SA health setting until dec 23. I had to wear one at work at the RAH

      • +1

Only after the SA Covid outbreak a couple of months ago. Prior to that it wasn't compulsory at the RAH. Only ever saw people with masks on that were going to the Covid clinic out the front

        • Yes well the comment was that it had never been mandatory in SA and it was in certain circumstances last month

  • +1

Back when it used to cost $1 per mask..

  • +3

Bought one from last sale and the quality is hit and miss, the string come off easily when you take them out of the air wrap

  • +4

Have purchased from this seller with the same item a month ago. Happy enough with the quality and ordered again earlier today.

  • +8

This is the same seller from the earlier post today https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/595562 Their disposable masks have very poor quality, basically useless. I have tested them myself by wearing two masks at the same time, even with two masks, their filtration efficiency is still worse than one real medical mask. However, their 3M KN95 (not sure if they were genuine or not) are okay. They called their disposable masks "Zen" masks. Here is the photo of the Zen mask box just in case if you wonder what they look like. https://ibb.co/kB2mGY2

  • Got em. I like the bit where they say 10 packs are safer than larger packs. Course i can't think of any reasons how…

  • +1

These guys are slow on postage, took about 2 weeks to turn up.

  • Expired, cannot add to cart or buy

  • Thanks op.
Correct pricing, just ordered and went through ok

  • These are the dudes that were $1 for 50 not that long ago

  • +3

Worse eBay seller ever. Did not send the masks and when asked, just send me the postage status which says 'packed' but claimed it has been sent. Don't waste your time with this seller.

    • +3

Ditto. These idiots shamelessly sell items not yet in stock, by their own admission when i asked them why it was taking so long. You may not get these before the end of the pandemic.

      • They are dropshippers. They don't carry the stock themselves.
Both Zenmask and Outbax are owned by SmartChannel Pty Ltd, who ships the items out to you.

Can someone recommend me a good seller who sells good quality of face masks? It doesn't matter if it's from ebay, Amazon or website. Thanks

  • "Unfortunately, this seller won't post to a P.O. Box. Please update your delivery address and try again."

    Won't deliver to Parcel Locker… Why? :(

    • +1

      Because they use courier service

  • +1

Just a heads up, delivery may take longer than a month. Bought from them in late Nov and am still waiting for delivery.

    • +2

I bought almpat the same time as you and when I queried and threatened for a dispute with paypal, it got refunded. Pls be aware you only have limited time to lodge a dispute if paid with Paypal and a bit longer with credit cards.

  • +1

Oh hey this is the one I just recommended in another deal. These are really good masks. I've bought from this exact listing last time and there were no issues, other than the expected slow postage. But they arrived and they all come in the sealed 10 packs, the fabric feels soft against your skin, the metal nose bar forms a good seal.

  • Ordered 4 thx op

  • Good timing with the mandatory mask wearing in Sydney.

  • Ordered from this seller in the past.
The surgical mask quality was ok with the batch that I received, but the KN95 maskโ€™s strap is bad quality.

The elastic they use is too stiff and the length is a little too short. Tried wearing it in the plane and itโ€™s tugging my ear, and I have a small face. Can barely wear it for longer than 10 minutes, switched back to the surgical
    mask provided by the airline

  • Good price.
Woolies is selling 50 pcs for $20. Aldi sells 10 pcs for $9. Aldi is such a rip off!

  • As stated in the description, these masks are good for protection against dust, automobile exhaust and pollen only. That means they are no good for virus.

  • Delivered 2 days ago but only got it today. They use Fastway/Aramex so as expected they delivered to the wrong address and damaged the parcel.
    Returning the masks

    • Fastway/Aramex

Aren't they the same courier company that Amazon uses?
All my Amazon orders arrived at the correct address. Could it be possible the sender (Smart Channel) messed up the address?

      • The one in my area is lazy AF and just didn't care. Everytime I see parcels from Fastway I cancel the order. I can say just about 50% of my parcels arrive at my door. The rest either go missing. Next door. Across the street. Or 2-3 suburbs away at a drop off point thats on the way home for the courier / driver.

        • Next door. Across the street. Or 2-3 suburbs away at a drop off point thats on the way home for the courier / driver

๐Ÿคฌ These lazy a** scumbag drivers are never held accountable.

I had the same issue with a Couriers Please delivery. The package was marked signature required (i.e. no safe drop). Driver dumped the package on the door (in full view of the street), and bolted.
