Been looking for this sort of stuff for a while as there are not many pest control products stock in the local Bunnings. For the 500ml concentrate pest control solution normally costs around $30. Hope you guys enjoy it in summer.

    Ant, Spider, Cockroach, Concentrate…
    Reminds me of:
    Person, woman, man, camera, TV…
All worth extra points of course

Sir Lizard Spock, you are the bigliest stable genius on this planet. The Orange Golbin has nothing on you. 🙌

    • +1

theres no comma between the words. Its one super pest. Head of an ant, body of a spider, wings like a roach.

      • This will be featured in my next nightmare, can't wait xD

  • +1

You can try coopex from bunnings it has the same active ingredient

    • +1

I purchased coopex the other day, it's the most expensive sachet I've ever bought! It worked though!

    • Forgot to mention that it is all the same active ingredient permethrin

    • Tried it a few times doesnt work for me on ants any more. Any other suggestions? Tried the powder and granules that bunnings tell in the 500g tubs but not the best.

      • +2

Try AMDRO. It works however, genetic variability in any insect population can occur. This means that the product may not work in those few insects which can survive the product. When they reproduce then the whole colony will be immune.

This is quite rare with commercial grade killers though.

Someone below also suggested another good one Tempo.

        • +2

Whenever I read AMDRO it registers in my mind as ANFO, which would be a far superior insecticide (and everything-cide).

      • The best ant control product for outdoor use by far is Advion Ant Gel. Ants love this stuff and just put small drops or thin lines on ant trails and they will go nuts for it coming back for more over several days.

The best thing is it doesn't kill immediately but take it back to their nest destroying most of the nest within a week or so:

        https://www.easypestsupplies.com.au/advion-ant-gel

    • How do you apply it though? Sorry a complete noob here

      • You need a garden sprayer, then mix the concentrate with water on the ratio recommended. Sprays on the edges and corners where insects will crawl across.

Available at local Bunnings for $13.35… https://www.bunnings.com.au/richgro-500ml-ant-spider-and-coc…

    • +2

Amgrow's one can mix to 20 litres of spray vs Richgro's 5 litres.

      • Richgro seems to be more diluted now. A bottle used to do 20 L!

        • If it used to do 20 L, then it doesn't seem to be diluted, but it is diluted. Talking like in the news, allegedly.

  • +4

    I use Bayer Temprid 75 1L about $70. Its class 3A/4A insecticide.
One bottle lasts forever and can use indoor/outdoor
10mls in 1L (but i usually put double dose) and havent seen a live roach for years indoor or outdoor
Respray outdoor after heavy rain and indoor every 2 months

    • Any good on ants?

    • any particular spot to spray on ?

      doors / windows openings?

      • +2

You spray around the egdes and corners of the room where insects tend to crawl . Doors, windows, flyscreens, edges of built ins, behind cuoboards & appliances, Under your house if you have a old fibro house, inside kitchen cupboards and draws.
I usually spray all the walls from top to bottom ourside and the roof of house and garage

You need about 3 litres so 30mls of temprid

        • are the ingredients safe for spraying inside kitchen cupboards and drawers ?

          • +2

@dcep: Yes, its non toxic to humans . Obviously if your allergic to the active ingredients thats a different story.

Forgot to mention to spray the frame and mattress of all the beds as its also effective against bed bugs

And best time to spray (or respray) is on a very hot day when the insects/roaches tend to crawl out of their hiding spots (during the night).

Even professional pest controllers do not go absolute overboard as all your comments in this post, and they're the people that have to come back and re-do the job if their treatment isn't working - so have reasons to be certain that their application works.

Please talk to one because they'll slap you in the back of your head. Label rates are there for a reason. Feel free to be the mad scientist in your own home but don't go telling people to do the same. Blanket oh its non toxic doe statement is also dangerous. Its not air freshener. You're saturating your entire house with it, every two months even. Christ.

              • @payton: Just a heads up this method is based on a discussion with a few pest controllers (plus my observation of them spraying) over the years before i started doing my own and saving $300+ to get them to do the same.

Obviously, if you mop your house every week, or vacuum every day, the concentration of the insectecide dust will dilute until it becomes ineffective, same thing with the rainy summer days that will effect the concentration outside, and require a respray every few months.

The 3 to 6 months effectivness of a insecticide doesnt take in consideration the above point.

The point of spraying your bed/mattress is to prevent bed bug infestation especially if you have young kids or tend to travel locally alot and sleep in motels and even hotels.

          • @dcep: I'd remove contents first but that's just me. Not keen to ingest pesticide.

It's pretty common these days for pest controllers to spray along the skirting boards and then apply gel to cupboard door hinges, etc

            • @Last Seen: If you dont need to do the inside, just don't. Been using chemspray for years and never did the inside, applied only once a year around the perimeter of the house and it's fine. Only use the recommended ration, and I don't apply every 3 months. I find it actually last longer IME.

Regarding German cock roaches, borax does wonders, put it e.g behind kickboards or in stacks if in a unit where no one can get to it. If ingested by females it can cause infertility. The roaches will take it back to the nest and then they are done for

        • Bought the temprid75, mixed 20mls per 1L. Found bedbugs crawling on a bedsheet, sprayed directly onto the bugs, they all stopped moving and I assumed they died, but there was one bug that kept moving, that's when I realised the other bugs were playing dead. Had to really soak the bugs for them to die and still there were some that wouldn't die. Picked those bugs with my fingers and dropped them into a small container and then had to drown them in the solution for them to die.
Next time I will increase concentration to 40mls per 1L to see if the bugs die immediately. So far disappointed with temprid75.
Does anyone have another way to get rid of bedbugs?

          • @BellaWii:

Thanks for sharing your experience with TEMPRID 75. Have you tried it on other bugs like spiders, or ants?

            Any thoughts @easternculture?

    • Thanks - going to try this

  • +1

Damn it! Out of stock already.

  • OP, what ratio do you use for 1L solution?

    • 1L solution = 25ml concentrate + 975ml water

  • Damn missed out in 47mins

  • This link still works for Back order. This is a better deal. Ready to use 2L pack for AU$ 13.83:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Patrol-Ant-Spider-Cockroach-RTU/dp…

    • The other bottle is concentrate.. it would make like 30LT.

Like any insecticide you should be reapplying every 30 days for the first 3 months.

      • Reapplication are only necessary if you are still seeing cock roaches. If not, why bother? They aren't bothering you, why spray the extra poison around? There's limits to our knowledge, no one really knows the long term consequences of sustained exposure to these chemicals which are known to cause illness for higher levels. Why not just forgo using any PPE while you are at it?

On point though, this bottle is multiple years supply for most people even with your higher frequency regime

        • Ok you're failing to understand management of bugs.

You need to eliminate (first spray) then most professional sprays retain on surfaces after the second or third spray.

This will then prevent them from coming back (eradicate)

You're not applying an insecticide to be kind, you're trying to eliminate the colony and with ants the queen could be 2km away!

          • @[Deactivated]: Yes, but fhemspray specifically lasts for 3 months. The directions specify that if you need to do a repeat spray then do so, but if you don't… Well. The cycle of life should be broken in the 3 months, and then you shouldn't need to do them until next year.this is what I have been doing and it's fine?

    • If you have german roaches, there are likely to be resistant to permethrin

      • +7

I found a cockroach the other day.
I want sure if it was German so I asked.
        It replied 'nein'…

  • I saw a heap of this at my local Aldi (Sydney) today if you're having Ant issues.

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-30-…

  • back in stock :D

    • Damn, went to add to cart but it wouldn't show up. After a few tries, refreshed and unavailable again :(

  • +2

are these safe for use with pet dogs around?

    • +1

Generally, you keep pets excluded until sprayed surface is dry to the touch.

Other forms of pesticide like dusts and baits can be a problem and should not be accessible at any time

  • Any product recommendations for small spiders with in the house?

    • +1

Depends on the species but products containing bifenthrin are considered cheap and effective at the label rate.

If you get a pre mixed kit eg 5L, usually the supplied nozzles are rubbish and it's more effective to use a garden sprayer or better

  • Anyone got experience getting them and keeping them out of a car? A whole bunch just moved in, and can’t see a food source they’re after. Lots going in and out via the tyres, of course

    • food source that attracts ants could be moisture or fungus. not necessarily limited to human food crumbs etc.

  • +3

Good price, but not great, same stuff at Bunnings is $15. Active ingredients are the same. It's the same as coopex but a bit cheaper and it smells.

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/david-grays-500ml-ant-and-termite…

    • Is that concentrate - i.e. you mix with water yourself? Otherwise, isn't this product 20x cheaper?

      • Yes, exact same as the one in the post by the looks of it. The David greys one has instructions about concentration to use on the back depending on what your killing.

  • Can you use this product on plants such as box hedge and lilly pilly to control spiders?

  • guys my local pest controller gave me this amber looking liquid in a triangular plastic container a few cm long with holes on each side for the ants to crawl in and take the liquid back to the nest and kill them all

this worked well but the stuff has finished, does anyone know what liquid that is and where to get that container?

    • +1

Hey. it could be Ant Rid baits. I used to use Ant Rid. It was a sticky solution the ants would take back to their nest which would poison them from the inside.

  • Anyone used Hovex from Bunnings - https://www.bunnings.com.au/hovex-1l-ultra-lo-odour-termite-…?

    How do you rate it?

  • +1

Been refreshing this page on Amazon once a day due to summer ants.
