Mate, can you do a deal on the longer 3M cable?

    • Would also be interested.

  • Any 15m for 4k 60hz?

    • I think you need an active transmitter for that length, i've never seen a 15m cable

Might be prudent to first of all check out the Displayport 1.4 standards, given that Displayport 2.0 is now officially a thing and 2.0 cables should be appearing now or soon. Re the 1.4 standard, at https://www.cablematters.com/blog/DisplayPort/what-is-displa… it states, for instance - "It even supports 8K video, but only at up to 30Hz due to the hefty bandwidth demands". 8k at 60Hz is apparently for sources with 'Display Stream Compression'.

Anyway, I am no expert on any of this, but reading up on the standards just makes it seem to me that it would be worthwhile doing some research before committing to buy. See also https://www.wikiwand.com/en/DisplayPort .

Just to let you guys know, I bought the Snowkids one off Amazon which is rated at 4K 60 and I'm having problems. Black screen for a second every now and then.

I was using it on a Dell 4K panel.

I changed to HDMI and no more problems.

    • oh - how funny - not!
you might have just diagnosed my issue, having said that it has only just appeared and I actually think it is due to my DP to GPU connection not being perfect, the GPU is 1.5 width and the connectors can't completely clear the back of the case, support bar is in the way.

      • Why symptoms were you getting and what cord were you using?

I was getting a one second black screen every few hours.

The concern I have is this cable looks exactly like the Snowkids one.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0861VGRR4/ref=ppx_yo_d…

        • I purchased one snow kids 2m 4k 60fps Display Port.

          One 1.5m 8k one too
          https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08KP5D7L5/ref=ppx_yo_d…

Because these displayport adaptors don't have the press button clips for a secure connection I know for example a light tap on the back of the cable will cause the screen to flicker.

Back in the day the VGA and DVI cables had screws for a secure connection. The displayports of old used a clip mechanism but these ones don't have that. I also feel the nylon cable is quite stiff that doesn't help matters either.

The black screen is like you - random every few hours. I'm trying to think back to when I had 1 HDMI and this Snowkids one if it did it back then. I've only recently got the above 8K cable (not in this deal) and have started running dual DP. Mainly for RGB 444 and HDR

      • Yeah this one is NOT certified so might give you problems.

        • Did the $13.97 give it away? :)

  • Bought 2 of the 4K Proxima Proxima HDMI cables in 2m length which work fine. Having issues with the 3m ones. Keep losing signal.
Any recommendations for a better 3m cable?

    • I was using the snowkids 3 metre 4k60 one and had trouble with that!

The Snowkids one looks like the proxima one so I'm not sure if it the same company.

    • I ordered a 3m one from KabelDirect (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07HL7RSRW/) - it actually does 3440x1440 @ 144Hz on my Xiaomi 34. Cost more than double the cheap non-vesa certified ones, but at least it worked. Presumably it'll work fine for 4K60Hz, but I haven't tested it.

Club3D are also supposedly ok - you can check the manufacturers on Vesa's website somehow. Look for "vesa certified" and HBR3.

I've tried some of the cheaper cables and they're not worth the gamble.

  • I'm struggling to find a 5m HDMI 2.0 cable compatible with an RTX3080, got anything for me OP?
