Think I paid over $100 for this about 2 months back.

      Is it good/decent ?

I got to stop buying tools for the sake of having more tools, if you know what I mean… 😅

Keep telling my wife, "it's really useful", then only use them a few times a year.

      • Productreview.com reviews seem decent.

I have 28 skins, just tell your wife you need more to keep up with the other people on OZB.

My nan has one. It works well on new growth and waist high shrubs under about 1cm thickness but anything bigger it struggles and will not give clean cuts.

Basically, for what it is designed for and its rated cutting capacity it is fine. However, I have just ordered a bosch online for myself as the Ozito is not powerful enough or cuts thick enough shrubs for what I need.

The 2 x 18v Ozito might be a better bet if you need more power, but the second battery adds more weight hence why I opted for something else. Weight was a crucial factor for me when deciding.

My neighbour just bought a new Bosch. Was near useless. I went over and cut his hedge with the ozito without issue. This is my second experience with the bosch hedge trimmers (the fingers are too small). Keep your receipt!

P.S. I have the ozito from a few years back that was about $50 and came with a battery.

          • @tunzafun001: This will be my first step into the cordless tool ecosystem. I was intent on going Ryobi but the hedge trimmer I wanted was skin only and hadn't been on sale for 18 mths.

You've got me a little concerned now about the bosch. I ordered on Amazon so would probs be expensive to post back. I wanted an ecosystem with a good range of garden tools. Ozito/Ryobi/Bosch were only ones in my budget.

          • @tunzafun001: Do you have this model or the more powerful 2 x 18V?

            • +1

@rokufan: Just the single battery version. It's pretty good. But it's a couple of years old, so maybe a different model. I use it to trim around 30m of box hedge, an apple tree, a hibiscus and a grape vine. No issues yet. I do use my 3Ah battery, not the small default battery it came with if that makes any difference.

Sorry, This is the cheaper one. I would NOT recommend this item unless you are only looking at trimming things that's got a very thin stick/leave. I bought this and had a very hard time cutting down some of the twicks out of my trees and I have stupid bushes in front of my house so the gaps of the teeth on this is a bit short. I took it back and bought this one:

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-2-x-18v-cordless-hedge…

Hence over the $100 I paid. Really happy with it. Much better in my opinion. It does get a bit heavy but next time I use it I'll use a harness to just get some of the tension off my back.

So, if you have small plain bushes, grab the one on special. If you want to cut something thicker make sure the size will fit between the blades else don't bother.

Does the 2 x 18V come with a harness or strap?

        • Thank you for the feedback, I was ready to ditch my petrol trimmer and go with battery, I guess I'm going to wait a bit longer now.

    • You probably bought the full kit with battery and charger. And I thought I had a lot of skins. The ozito drill for $39 from $99 was an awesome deal.

      • Yea sorry I bought the bigger version

    • nearly done so. but battery pack sold separately made me eventually buy a wired cheap one…

      • Which wired one did you get? Is it any good?

        • +1

The cheapest one, 59 I believe. Does it’s work so can’t really complain

    • this is just skin , yours might have battery and charger too.

  • Nice. Ordered one for C & C. Thanks

    • If you put it in the fridge..

    • Will be heavier which is not great if your waving it above your noggin for a long time…

    • +3

Keeping my eyes on that one as well. Hope it goes on a decent "sale" soon

  • Whats best way or deal to get ozito batteries I mainly use ryobi

    • use the ozb search box mate

    • There is one on special now 2.5ah battery and charger for $39. There will also be a 4.0ah battery for $49 next week.

  • hmm, bought this on the 3rd - reckon they'll refund the difference?

    • Start the conversation with oh my, I love your shirt..

    • +3

just refund the old one and get this one.. or get this one and refund it with old receipt

I have one and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I'd recommend it. I trim some hedges and it's been great.

  • +1

What's better? The Ozito or Aldi stuff?

  • For those who have one ( or similar ) what do you use to lubricate the blades. Dont really want to use something like WD40 as it would probably kill the plant/ hedge

    • +1

I have one and yes it is complete rubbish. Not worth near $50 to me but for some it will be usable for very light work. It is also a light weighted tool, but very slow to work with. I have a large yard and a number of hedgers and this one gets used the least, if at all. Still mostly on petrol (Echo). To answer the question, yes you should lubricate all garden tools after use or the blades will rust and go dull very quickly and you will be throwing this away in no time. Every single time and be generous if its after cutting wet plants. I use the White Lithium grease spray on these or (better still) Lanox. Lanox is the best because it goes well on electronic parts as well if you need that, but White grease is cheaper and I go through tons of the stuff. Damage to plants is generally done with the hot exhaust from petrol hedgers if you are noticing it.

        • I personally found the WD40 white lithium to be poor quality. After exchanging a few calls with WD40 so called experts I took it back to Bunnings.

          • @bashar20: I ended up getting this one as it seemed more suitable for a hedge trimmer and less likely to kill my hedge plants. Not sure if its any good at lubricating and protecting against rust as ive only sprayed it once yesterday.

            • @ialam99: Looks good. Wonder what is the main active ingredient in it?

              • @bashar20: Just looking at the can, it doesnt list the active ingredients on the can itself. I wouldnt be surprised if they are all the same. They just market it as different products to get more sales.

                • @ialam99: All the same? Maybe so. Doesn't really matter. Any grease or oil will do the job regardless, including cooking oil, old motor oil etc. I have used the white grease for many years and it's anti-corrosion properties are great, my tools do not rust. If you leave a wet hedger blade without lube it will start rusting overnight so I can say for certain the above. Just use something.

@bashar20 I am not sure how you found it to be poor quality but I use it on literally hundreds of tools, mainly gardening stuff and its fine. It also sets a whitish colour so you know if you have done the spraying on a particular tool. Other products are clear and after a few days you can't really tell just by looking. Lanox is clear and thin but you can tell by the lovely smell, if its on the same day. You can spray a wet circuit board with Lanox so that is a bonus with that product. Most people above clearly are new to this so that's why I gave the advice.

  • Yes. The exact one.
