Samsung Q80T 65" $1995.00 + Delivery (RRP $2695) @ JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Domayne

1810

Just posted today it seems, there are a few retailers doing it for $1995 + delivery

Appears to be a backorder from the conversation I had getting mine, expecting it at the end of the month and doing local store pickup.

    • I use Pi hole with a Samsung TV blocklist

    • Apparently you can manually set the TVs DNS server to one that blocks Samsung's ads..

Not sure which one.. google may help :)

    • More research shows very disturbing info on what samsung does. It even records what you're watching!!!

Found a tutorial to block. Only for static IP tho..
      https://gist.github.com/peteryates/b44b70d19ccd52f62d66cdd4b…

  • Still waiting for my Q80t 75inch from JBHIFI since Black Friday last year and they still can’t give me an update as to when it will come, just a caution here

    • One of the HN staff told me on Boxing Day that Q80T is end-of-line and its no longer in production. Only the available stocks in AU will be circulated.

Samsung is introducing new TVs next week at CES 2021

      https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/6/22215172/samsung-neo-qled-…

      • That probably explains the delay then. Hopefully i will still receive the TV though I don’t really mind that it’s discontinued.

You’d think that the stock is in Australia by now!

If you plan on using this TV for gaming, please read the link below. It has the worst ghosting I have ever seen.

    • Thanks for the heads up, I'm currently looking for a new TV for my series X to replace my Sony KDL-60-600B. Might wait until the end of the year for a 75"

      • Thanks, I was going to HN tomorrow to order one for my ps5. Think I’ll give it a miss now.

    • Great review, I would be pissed if I bought this to play a next gen console.
      Inexcusable.

  • I wrote that review btw, I just don't want anyone to go through the saga I did with this TV, I did so much research but somehow missed this massive flaw.

    • Thanks for sharing. Sorry you had to go through that shenanigans and disappointment. Appreciate the heads-up. I'm passing on this one and my Series X will need to wait longer to find a 120hz panel to plug into!

    • What would you recommend for gaming on these new consoles ?

      • I am going to wait, I don't want to, but I should. I have a CX on order, but I'll see how the newer models are going before I purchase it. The Samsung Models from last year are the only LCD's with the entire suite of features including a 20hz - 120hz VRR range, every other TV is compromised in some way. I just really can't stress enough how bad the ghosting looks, I have talked to others that say "it's not that bad", but they are all playing on a PS5, and it doesn't support VRR yet, when that is on, along with 4k120, it really looks terrible.

    2020 TVs all have flaws.
Q80T dirty screen effect and QA issues. A definite no go for a sports viewer. Do not get confused with US reviews.
Q8 hopeless software and motion handling. Vincent says do not buy this TV. Do not get confused with US reviews.
X9000h HDMI 2.1 issues; processing not as good as x9500h.
x9500h probably the best but no HDMI2.1

  • WAIT.

    It's CES week!

Sony just announced new sets that obliterate 2020 models.

    • For a price. To get the new models announced, at the current prices you'll have to wait until this time next year. At which time new TVs will be announced and you can wait again.

Happy I grabbed a x9500h, really only missing 2.1 which while I would like for future proofing, there will be no gaming happening on this tv.

    • This is because of Mini LED technology. Mini LED's are 40x smaller than current LED's. Micro LED will be 100x smaller (Samsung has a 146 inch demo unit). Mini LED also produce more light (nits) than OLED which is going to be interesting in the price wars.

      • +2

None of the new Sony TV's are mini led.

    • +1

      I take this back.

      Sony sucks.

  • +1

    Glad I saw this deal.

Was set to buy the Q80t not realising was different to the US model.

    Cheers peeps

But now back to my 27inch monitor in the living room…

    • I think it’s only the anti-glare and wide angle coating that’s missing.

  • After reading the comments around the issues, will hold off till the new Sony range, with HDMI 2.1( improved implementation as well) and Google TV.

    https://www.businessinsider.com/sony-2021-4k-8k-tvs-led-oled…

  • Big leap forward this time more so than in previous years with the launch of next gen consoles TV manufactures are going to step up their line-ups quite a lot in terms of gaming with HDMI 2.1 and Freesync/Gsync being the norm now.

New display tech from Samsung coming with mini LED, think OLED quality but now without the burn in risk also rumoured to come in 50inch to rival LG's 48" OLED.

2020 TV's are going to look outdated real fast.

    • You're mixing up microLED and miniLED. Micro is the self emmisive one with OLED quality. Mini is a better FALD.

There is gonna be a more "consumer" MicroLED panel at 88", but that won't be remotely affordable.

    • Someone included a link further up the thread, which outlines the new models headed our way in the coming months. The miniLED models will be the ones most consumers will gravitate too. The MicroLEDs will be much higher price point.

Got it for $1899 at The Good Guys, just waiting for stock to come back. Out of stock all across Victoria, 391 awaiting orders all across Australia.

  • Just bought one at JB HiFi today. The sales assistant told me to wait for at least one month for one month hopefully mid Feb.

  • Hey all, anyone bought from The Good Guys and received an ETA? I thought it wasn't a backorder because it showed stock when I ordered it… But sadly the order has turned to backorder status…

Going to call them tomorrow to try and get an ETA.

    • +1

I have an 85 from November and still don’t have an ETA

    • 75" from BF delivered after 5 weeks.

      • Which retailer did you buy from? I'm still waiting for my order.

        • +1

JB HF. You'll get a text msg 4 to 5 days before delivery.

          • @Neoika: Thanks. Now, lets see when my turn comes up for delivery, it is six weeks since I order. Fingers crossed🤞.

        • Hey Jubz, got my ETA from The Good Guys. They said 10 units are coming on the 25th of this month and there are 11 back orders. She said it's like 90% I'll get one but imagine if I'm that 1…

          • @elgoog: Thank you for the update. I hadn't heard any update for my order; they say not sure about ETA when I called, and they can't commit a date. Have to wait and see.

            • @jubz: Mine is arriving tomorrow! They were quite true to their dates.

              • @elgoog: Thanks for the update. I received mine today, excepting it to be next week but got a surprise call today morning about the delivery. Finally, received after eight weeks.

    • I got in before the deal was posted on ozb, so I thought I had beaten the rush, but TGG doesn't seem to have any 'order of purchase' to provide items, I was just assigned my closest store a few days after I ordered and no info beyond that.

I called up my local store just to update some contact info and the person on the line was pretty abrupt once she saw my order, so I assume a lot of people were probably calling about the availability of the TV because I didn't even ask about the order itself and she gave me the 'item is out of stock, we have no visibility or eta from the warehouse', etc.

Reading below about Nov orders without ETA, I'll probably wait 1 or 2 more weeks and if no update will just cancel.

      • People can afford to wait mainly coz they paid by 10-15% off giftcards. In my case, I redeemed about 40 giftcards.

      • +1

Hey Garciaicrag, see my comment above but the lady confirmed there are 10 coming on the 25th and there are 11 back orders. This is for The Good Guys Auburn store where my order will be fulfilled and delivered from. I live in the Newington area.

        • Called yesterday and just got the 'no stock, no eta' so I just cancelled my order

Q80T 75inch was the model Samsung upgraded me to when my Q70T 75 inch started to play up. Samsung sent out a tech who recommended replacing the screen, so samsung said they will only repair. after I lodged a complaint with fair trading, they miraculously decided to not only replace it, but also offer me an upgrade to a brand new Q80T. I am still sometimes taken back by how good the screen looks. It makes an awesome gaming screen. I even use it as my pc monitor. with 200hz refresh, it makes one hell of a pc gaming monitor.

  • My experience with the q80t wasn't a good one.
    Screen gets very dirty
I didn't think watching sports on it was crash hot compared to my 8yr plasma which is pretty bad if you ask me.
Then my 1. 5 yr old barely touched the screen and ruined the screen so now i have a line going through it and it's only 3 months old.
It also started turning off and on so I've got samsung coming out to see it so fingers crossed I can return it. I will spend that little extra and get a OLED
    Ps i paid 2450.

  • No anti-glare unlike the Q80R

  • I got the 85’ in the BF eBay sale from GoodGuys and it is awesome, much better than cheap 75’ 5yr old Sony i had. On a PS5 mainly.

  • Anyone had any luck getting the TV or getting an ETA? Called TGG and the guy told me there are no more Q80t and that I should just cancel my order.

Hoping he is wrong and there will be more that unexpectedly shows up.

    • +1

Not sure how accurate that is.

I was looking at Samsung website yesterday and the TV was out of stock, but today it shows it as available.

      • Thanks. Was very keen on the TV (currently using a 32" TV given to me by a friend) and felt pretty discouraged not being able to get it.

Happy to know Samsung website has stock

    • Called TGG Melton, VIC store to follow up on my order today and was told that Samsung ‘oversold’ on this one and that they won’t be able to complete order. They asked if I’d like to come in and spend my money on something else in store or to keep it as store credit….

No thanks, refund in full please!

Pity as I was happy with this deal and now it’s back to hunting again.
Thanks to OP for the heads up.

      • Just an update, as per mahdi comment, there are more stock. Not sure how fast your GG will have it, but I got the TV, just got a call. Might want to hold the order just a bit longer.

        • +1

I ordered 7/01 and gave TGG a call today (23/01) and they are having it delivered on Monday.

  • I got call from TGG to pick up mine :)

  • +1

TGG in VIC seem to be sold out everywhere still and I haven't had a call regarding my order. The lady I spoke to on the phone also said they don't know when stock will arrive.
NSW looks to have availability at some stores. Is anyone in VIC getting called for their orders?

    • +1

      From VIC
Called yesterday and they said they hadn't received any yet.
People in other states seem to be getting them, so hopefully early next week we'll get a call

  • Still waiting for an update from Hardly Normal.

  • any store have stock? NSW

Got called yesterday, will have mine delivered this morning
    VIC, bought from GG

    • How is your unit in terms of quality? Any noticeable banding or dirty screen effect?

      • +1

Once I get home and set it up will let you know

      • +1

Very happy with the purchase. Great picture quality, no issues at all with the screen.

    • Same here. Notified yesterday, delivered today

  • My store says they are receiving stock soon (VIC)

    • No ETA from HN still.

  • +1

My Q80T got delivered today (purchased from TGG).

Extremely happy with this TV. I upgraded from a 55 Samsung Q6FN. Spent some time configuring the picture settings - in my opinion this TV offers superb picture quality and the FALD works very very well. It's a big improvement from the edge lit backlight of my previous TV. Played a few 4K YouTube videos with deep blacks and it just looks outstanding. Assuming the content is good, colours pop offering a truly immersive experience. \

The ambient mode is also a really nice addition for showing up images instead of having a black screen.

It does have some DSE however it doesn't bother me and is only visible if pulling up a solid grey background. From my understanding all FALD TVs are limited by this to some degree.

I think for the $700 saving, this was an epic deal.

One thing I noticed with this TV is if you turn Local Dimming on High, you'll notice dark areas / splotches when the camera pans. This can be fixed by setting Local Dimming to Low or Normal.
