  • 10/100 Ethernet? Please confirm no Gigabit.

    • Try asking on Facebook - they seem pretty helpful.

      • +1

Thanks for the tip but I don't use Facebook on principle. Might try the online enquiry form.

        • COMMS: 10/100/1000 Base Ethernet

I don't know if the OP changed the specs since posting, but there's your answer. ;)

        • +1

Yeah, sorry, I changed it since the website changed it.

  • Hmm.. definitely tempted. i7 Lenovo for under $600 if you can pick up. If not shipping cost will add another $15-$20 depending on location I would expect (I got $16.50 for Vic metro).

Can anyone comment on the build of the Ideapad? compared to the Thinkpad? I use a Thinkpad for work but am looking for something for personal use at home…maybe some portable minor gaming etc. Would this suit?

      • Good laptop, have one.

Battery life is 3-4hr normal use. 2hrs video etc. Weight distributed. Powerful but still not a pure gaming laptop so it should play all the new games but not at the best levels (esp. the new ones).

    • Lenovo's are of a good build quality. My only criticism of the Y560 is that the lid is very thin and feels a bit flimsy.

  • No Gig ethernet, no usb 3? No thanks.

    • +4

What were you expecting for a $599 laptop?

      • well it seems it was a typo and has gig ethernet…
but i imagine an i7 will be quite hot, i would settle for an i5, with usb 3, and depending on usage, lower grade video or onboard.
A "desktop replacement" or gaming lappy one can not do properly for this price range without massive compromise.

        • Huh? So you're saying there must be some kind of catch because it's too cheap?

  • any good for mw3 bf etc?

    • Probably MW3, but not likely BF3.

  • -2

YUCK… a Radeon 6570, how low can you go?

  • I just get one instore, it is 2nd Gen

    • Nice, thanks for the confirmation. Does it have USB 3.0?

      • +1

        unlucky, nope usb3.0

        • +1

usb 3.0 would have been a dream. Although I can live without it.

      • +1

HM55 chipset as listed does not support 2nd gen i7's…. So unless the chipset is wrong then it won't be sandybridge.

  • +1

    http://centrecomau.blogspot.com/

check it out, they've reviewed it last month, specs look exactly like the y560 on the blog!

seems like a very good machine!

    • +1

No idea why they're putting it under a different model number (they did the same thing for the HP one I posted).

      • +1

i assume its something to do with competitors……..cos this price is F&%$(G cheap!!!!

        • Yeah, probably so they don't price match or something.

  • +4

Years ago bought a Levono laptop and claimed 1/2 educational refund, received cash back and end up only cost 200-300. I like this cashback offer.

    • +5

The best one was the T520 = $1200, $600 cashback and $600 education refund = free laptop.

  • +1

If it bothers you , beware fellows the Ctrl key is not to the left corner,

Hate Lenovo for having a non standard keyboard

    • Can you swap this in the BIOS though?

    • +1

      Swappable in the BIOs…

  • -1

What is with the horrible resolutions. :\

  • Specs and price go very nice together, nice find.
I can only laugh at the home theater certification 2watt speakers.

  • Now give me those specs but with a res of 1920x1080. Feel free to add $100 to the price :)

    • Won't game to well at 1920x1080 :/

      • What is this "game" you speak of.
Media/Internet only for me ( well maybe a little work )
        :)

  • +1

For those ppl still whining, look up specs of compaq presario cq41-209tx, i paid $999 for it when it first come out. This is good deal.

    • +1

      agreed

    • or better still spend some more and get
      Acer 17" Acer Core i7, 2GB Graphics, 8GB, 750GB, BLURAY + USB 3.0 $899 or 4GB & DVD-RW $799
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59531

      • For an extra $300 or $200 … ?? Depends on your needs. This offer is very hard to beat atm.

  • Can you get this with the white keyboard? as in the video..

  • I'm ozbargained!!! I was so worried it would run out of stock tonight that I paid $16.5 to buy online even though I'm 10 mins away from the shop :(.

  • anyone got feedback on how centrecom is on the cashback process? is it painful or is it fairly quick.

    • The cash back is thru Lenovo website

  • Other than lack of usb3.0, this deal makes the Asus deal posted yesterday look like a bad joke.

  • sorry my mistake, how is the cashback through lenovo?

    • +1

      Received after 9 week wait.

    • +1

      www.lenovo.com.au/100cash

The eligible models does not list this particular model Y560(0646MUM).
It does list this one Y560(4397M2M), that centrecom has for $698 after $150 cash back.
      http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/y560p4397m2m-free-shippi…

Dodgy? Can anyone guarantee that the refund will be given for this model?

      • I think that link is the laptop you're getting for $599.

      • Thanks choofa!

You're right, only the 1 Y560 (4397M2M) model is listed here,
not the one linked in this offer :(

        http://www.lenovopromo.com.au/cash/intel/eligible-products.h…

        • If you have a look at the specs for that model, it matches up with the specs for the one I posted. This isn't the first time CC has listed a laptop under a different model number.

        • +1

ah, thanks kheob. hopefully it all works out. cheap as!

  • What model number do they put on the invoice?

  • Does this one have Blu-ray drive? Coz some sites say yes, some no.

  • Was told this price is for old model in store. Latest model has a 'p' on the end. Matchray, please upload your receipt. You may have been charged the old model price and given the new model.

    • You sure about that? I want to buy one now but will hold off if its the old model.

      • Well, the guy in store told me that, and that the old model is out of stock, despite what the online store says. He told me the laptop will cost $900 for their "current" model. If I wanted to purchase at that price, he wanted an invoice number.

    • LENOVO Y560 (0646MUM) = no blueray
      LENOVO Y560P (4397M2M0-BR) = blueray + eSATA port

  • Just did a research and found there is no switchable graphic on this one. It will be on ATI graphic all time.

    • why is it bad ?
Web link to a proper explanation will do.
      thanx.

      • 2nd gen intel CPUs have an onchip GPU. So when not doing graphic intensive things if you switch to that, you will save battery.

      • Sucks juice out of battery. Gets hot.

        • thanx.

  • Can someone who has purchased check what Lenovo would charge for upgrading the warranty. You just need to plug in your serial number at this site.

    http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/auweb/Leno…

    Thanks

  • Has anyone who bought the T520 or T420 one before received the Cashback? I haven't got mine yet, it has been almost 3 months after I got the approved email.

    Thanks

    • +1

Yeah, 3 weeks ago, more or less. Mine was a T520.

    • Yeah I did as well a while ago.

  • If I order online, how long will it take for delivery? Remember we only have one week to claim cashback from the day of purchase.

    • 2 weeks according to Lenovo site.

      IDEAPAD Y SERIES
      Visa Cash Card: $150
Please note: Cash Back offer exclusive to the models listed below during eligible offer dates.
Please hurry, Cash Back claims must be lodged via the website within 2 weeks from the sale date, so don't forget!

      • Offer ends 31 Dec, so it's meaningless to received it in 2 weeks?
Or can we get the invoice right after ortder completes and can claim immediately? Sorry, this question sounds dumb, because I never bought Lenovo online before.

        • +1

Perhaps you could go to the website and check :)

Anyway, you have until the 31st of Dec to buy, then 2 weeks from purchase date to redeem. To complete the redemption you'll either need the serial number on the invoice (not sure if Centre Com have been doing this) or to send a photo of the serial number to [email protected]. For the second option you obviously can't redeem until you get the laptop.

        • +1

I think you're misinterpreting what Naed is saying. He is saying that you have 2 weeks to claim the cashback, not 2 weeks for CC to deliver. Centre Com ship with TNT I think, so you should receive it in a day or two.

  • thought u only get cash voucher with Lenovo "cash" back.

not like MS.. they actually deposit them into your bank.

  • +1

Very good price for an i7 laptop

  • Anyone got their laptops yet?

    • All are holding back quite a bit I assume.

    • picked mine up from sunshine store yesterday. pretty sweet…just wish it had a num pad

      • Could you tell us about the specs?

        • +1

They subbed the model to LENOVO Y560P (4397M2M) for same price
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-2630QM (2.0GHz quad core)
          CHIPSET: Intel® HM55

          OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows® 7 Home Premium 64

I phoned ahead and quoted the website - they said they had sold out but would do the P for the same price.
Not blu-ray (that one has a "BR" on the end of the model number).
The only different I can see is that this has eSATA

        • So they charged you $749 before cashback for the LENOVO Y560P (4397M2M)?

Did you have to say anything to them at the Sunshine store?

Or did they just give it to you?

I'm looking to purchase from Sunshine too, since my local Centrecom isn't being very helpful at all.

And could you upload a receipt? I may try matching it at my local Centrecom one last time..

        • +1

          @ kirynflare
I mentioned the Y560 price and they told me because they had sold out they would do the 4397m2m for the same price (yes, 749 out of pocket - with cashback down to 599)
Just call ahead and confirm first, write down the name of person you speak with. They seemed find doing it - and offered - I didn't ask.

  • Does this laptop tend to get hot easily ?

    • Typing on it now.
The cooling system is really quiet. Much better than any laptop I have had before.

  • This would outperform the majority of macbook pro's… rofl great price

  • +1

They seem to have dropped the RAM from 8GB to 4GB now, also HDD down from 750 to 640GB. Also they don't say quad core anymore. Mine better have the specs listed in this. :|. Anyone have a screenshot of the previous ad, just in case?

  • I'll get my laptop tmr and give u guys some update

  • the original link in this barg now shows different specs (only 4 gig ram/640 hdd)

  • Ordered mine on Friday when it was 8GB of RAM and a 750GB HDD. I hope they don't try and do a sneaky switch.

Also, have anybody been able to track their consignment via TNT yet. I got sent the consignment number but the TNT site says it doesn't exist.

    • Mine just showed up on TNT website now. How long do they take to deliver? I am in CBD and it was just picked up from Laverton, Melb. I guess tomorrow?

      • 1 day.

        • MIne's on the van for deliver now. Please, please, please be a Y560P :-)

        • It will be.

        • +2

And it definitely is the Y560P with the 2nd Gen i7. CPU. :-)

  • Marked as expired since they changed the specs.

  • it is definitely the Y560P with 8gb and 740gb drive……. bought one yesterday
    http://centrecomau.blogspot.com/2011/11/lenovo-y560p-4397m2m…

exactly specs as this unit….. seems like it outs the DV6
