  • they upped the price by $10 from a couple of weeks ago =\

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57657

    • that didn't include free delivery did it?

      • not sure mate.. but surely it can't be hard to find a DSE around you? unless you're regional ie

      • Yes, It did include free delivery. I bought two of them and few other things to make it $250 and got $25 xmas discount and waiting for paypal $20 money back.

  • Still not a bad deal considering that the prices of rival WD HDDs has nearly trebled because of the floods in Thailand. e.g. I bought a 1TB portable WD HDDs for $89 3 weeks ago and it's now gone up to $255!

    • Are you serious a 1tb Hard Drive for $255 that seller must be on drugs!!

      • Just have a look at DS website. No joke. I was shocked too.

        • $148 at Harvey Norman, and Dick Smith won't price match that. "Below cost"

  • Prices are softening… although still a long way to go.

Every few days I download a price list from MSY, 2TB WD Green's have come down from a high of $193 2 weeks ago to $149 today. Still a long way to $82 (price before floods), but least they are heading in right direction.

Been delaying on a couple of 2TB drives for a few months now. Managed to buy a Seagate 2TB for $90 a few weeks ago (external desktop ripped open for internal drive), but busting for prices to come down again.

    • Damn, I just bought a 1TB Barracuda for $139… Completely forgot to look at MSY, looked everywhere else! Kicking myself.

    • I looked at MSY but I can't find the 2TB WDs at $149?

      • :)

      A 2.5" 1.5tb for 129 is still very good pre-flood

  • -5

u can buy them on ebay for $125 for a 1.5TB from a guy on ebay.
I have got some and was over the moon
    item number is 110788701059

Why would you buy from Ebay for $125 when you can get from DSE for $129 and walk out with it the same day, plus walk back into the store if you have any issues?

And it is "Postage: AU $15.00" anyway, making it $140, think about it before posting, or just advertising your own item?

Also, this is 2.5", not the 3.5" listed in the ebay auction.

      • -1

        From where it says 2.5'?
        it is 3.5' one

        • Seagate Expansion Portable = 2.5". The specs tab also says that it's USB powered which is another dead giveaway of it being 2.5".

    • hey yashik - wanna buy some speakers? just step in to the back of my van…

      • Hahaha - I remember those wanders - I saw them once in one suburb and they approached me the next day in another suburb. I asked them what sort of fraud they were selling today and they couldn't drive away fast enough!

  • Prices coming back down soon, i'm gonna wait.

    • I think $129 including delivery is a great deal even if WD weren't flooded it would be at a similar price.

"even if WD weren't flooded it would be at a similar price"

        wow…. thats a big call.
        wrong- but big :).

    • Soon? No. Think 6+ months.

not bad considering 3.5' 2TB harddisk only is selling $149

Compare apple to apple dudee… What you have posted are external hd where as this one is a portable one there is massive price difference between an external hf n a portable hd due to compaft size and ac power adapter that portable doesnt require

    • "Neg if you think Im wrong."

      challenge accepted

haha guess I missed that I appologise to the op. In that case its a good deal for the size. I was looking at the pic and assumed it was the 3.5 not the 2.5, my excuse is that it was like 2am + Bourbon = me not thinking straight. This time ill accept the negs as I actually deserved it.

  • I know this deal is real, I saw it in Dick Smith on Wednesday, just surprised no one had posted it already by Thursday night. I did take photo, just didn't see anywhere here to upload it. First post and all.
I went to DS website, just to check I hadn't got the details wrong, and that I hadn't saw wrong size.

  • Good deal considering the hard drive market at the moment it works out to be equivalent to 89$ for 1TB Portable HD

    • True but keep in mind that this is not the ultra-portable model. This would be the equivalent of WD Elements Portable instead of WD Passport Essential. I bought the 1TB WD Passport Essential for $95 a few months back, knowing that WD Elements were selling for $70 odd then for the same size. Of course, the floods changed everything.

  • Just got one at DS store. Pretty annoyed that I can't use 'credit' when paying by debit card. I wanted to utilise the extended warranty (1 year) that applies when paying by Visa debit.

  • anyone ripped these open. hoping for 7200rpm and sata

    • These are 5400 RPM.
DON'T BUY it if your expecting to get 7200rpm goodness.
