Apple iPhone 12 Mini White/Black/Red/Blue/Green 64GB $1169; 128GB $1277 C&C / + Delivery @ Officeworks

200

Whilst the 128GB has gone back up to a only a few dollars off RRP since the last Officeworks deal ($1199), the 64GB at $1169 is still a little cheaper than RRP at $1199. As at time of posting, all five colours are available online and for C&C.

Usual suggestions apply - price matching at JB and using discounted egift cards can get this down to about $1110. This seems to be the cheapest way of buying from a traditional B&M store (as opposed to random online stores like Becextech which have it even cheaper but caveat emptor).

Update: Thanks to calinya for pointing out the 64GB at $1169 also available at Big W which can use discounted egift cards too.

  • I read this as the 128GB model was now $1169 haha .. I got the previous deal and have the phone now. I spent a good couple of days deciding if I would return it though as I find the speakers - including the earpiece audio quality while taking calls - to be very poor. Like on par with a $100 K-mart burner phone. In the end though I think I can live with it as I love everything else about the phone.

    • Really interesting feedback… definitely not something I picked up on when I was reading reviews as am contemplating changing my iPhone XS Max to this (since I no longer need a huge iPhone). Could it be that your phone is defective?

Reviews indicate that voice call quality was good, but listening to music might be a bit lacking in bass/mids. If using as a speaker phone at high volume though it might be lacking?

      • It could be defective I suppose and maybe I can look into that more with Apple, but I honestly don't think so.. it's just a highly subjective thing. Most people think the main factor of a descent speaker is simply "how loud does it go?"

I did a quick A/B test with my pixel 3 last night (a regular phone call - not speaker phone), and while I did get used to the audio fairly quickly on the iPhone mini, the initial difference when I switched from the Pixel 3 was pretty dramatic to me. It sounded so cheap and crappy. It's just not what I was expecting from it and it's certainly the most expensive phone I've ever bought.

I'd say your product is defective or configured incorrectly. Have used the speaker on the iPhone mini and its crisp and perfect. If you are experiencing something equivalent to a $100 phone then I'd say you should be attending to this ASAP unless money isn't an issue and you don't care about the defect.

          • @solidice: It might be better to do in store but I just got through some online/chat help and their tests consisted of:
            - go to the sound settings and turn the volume all the way up
            - can you hear sound coming from the speaker? (Yes)
            - your phone is working correctly

Seriously this was the extent of their tech support.

            • @narcoleptic-haze: I've found bringing these things into the Apple Store usually gets a much better level of service for something which can be judgemental/unclear if it's an issue… also depends on how hard you push your concern either on the phone/online or in store (i.e. "i don't know if something is wrong can you check" vs "this sounds defective").

            • @narcoleptic-haze: Did you get your issue resolved? What time described is not standard fault identification, so sounds like you got a faulty phone and a very unique customer support experience!

              • @solidice: Yeah I more or less just got over it. Genuinely don’t think it was ever faulty per se. I still think the speakers are pretty poor. Listening to podcasts sometimes, it’s just a very sharp piercing sound to my ears. I get around it by using a small Bluetooth speaker most of the time and calls are fine.

I think it was just the immediate swap over from the Pixel 3 was a noticeable difference.

    • Didn't you find screen looks pale even after changing all the settings recommended online . The iphone mini screen looks more yellowish(pale) than iphone 7. I had bought one iphone 12 as well which I returned as camera stopped working but the screen colors specially whites were better than iphone mini.

i would confirm that the earpiece quality is at par with the standard iphone 12, and is as perfect. main speaker lacks lows and mids as there isn't enough space to move air to create decent phone bass. However. calls quality is as great.

  • Damn, I was worried OW will put the price back to the normal RRP but looks like they are decreasing further! Just bought one over the weekend at JBs, pm to the last lowest price.

Hoping for a deal on SE 2020, sick of trying to unlock with face ID while wearing mask.

  • Most likely price matching Big W: https://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/apple/iphone/iphone-12-m…

The white at Big W is still full price though. You can buy 5% Big W gift cards and get everyday rewards points too.

    • thanks, updated!

  • Does Apple store offers Price match ?
I want to trade in my iPhone X. Only Apple store will give me trade-in

      • Surprised me as I've had no issue price matching OW/etc at Apple Stores before on iPhones… but granted, haven't done this in a while since I discovered discounted egift cards. Not a bad idea to trade in an old phone though.

    • I always use Mobilemonster to cash my old phones

      • Thanks for the recommendation. Any other comments on the Mobilemonster experience? They do seem to pay quite a good price (at least vs Apple).

        • +1

Yup, used several times and they are prompt in payment after receiving it.

However, sometimes it is more profitable to sell on eBay comparing to selling it to MM (provided you have the sell for free promo listing).

  • Nice, now that the missus is sorted, I hope for a similar sale on a 12 Pro for myself.

    • Me too, looking for a deal for iPhone 12 Pro 256GB, anyone got any good deal?
