that's wrong. actually they will send you 8x2=16gb

    • Scrimshaw made a typo when he fixed my title and put 2x16gb

  • Noob looking to source parts for first pc build.
Will this offer any noticeable advantages over a 2x8gb 3200MHz CL16 rgb ram for $130-145 ish?
Favouring slower rgb ram if its only a marginal advantage.

    • 3200mhz cl16 will run great, got that in my own system.

    • Unlikely to see a difference but at this price it's a decent option as long as your system can support it.

Should be noted that RAM can be run at lower than advertised speeds. It's not an all or nothing proposal. So if you wanted to run this at 3200 mhz that would be possible for example.

    • Memory speed matters to a point. Currently it definitely matters more for AMD parts then it does Intel parts. It's one of those components where the extra cost is probably worth it because it's just not a lot of money. You can get really good 3600MHz CL16 kits for $130 at the moment. So really the price premium for the increased performance is only $15 - $20. 16GB is the sweet spot for most people. You really don't need 32GB unless you do a lot of professional work like video editing on your computer.

JayzTwoCents recently did a video about spending too much on certain components increasing system cost. Good video to watch on how to prioritise your money.

        Wtf are you on about

  • Hmmm I have Crusal Ballistix 8x2 3600mhz CL16… Should I buy this one and sell my Ballistix?

    • +1

Wot. It's probably the same thing with different default timings/latency.

But yes.. Sell to me. $50 :p

😅 Baraa I waited them for month till I got them

      • No, sell it to me for $55. LOL

        • +1

no sell it to me for $56

    • +2

unlikely to see much performance gain tbh, if using a ryzen it might even be worse because infinity fabric only scales 1:1 up to 3733mhz, above that it goes to 2:1 scaling.

I have the two 4000mhz kit, 4x8gb in my X570 Tomahwk system running at 3600mhz cl14-14-15-38 at 1.44v, gear down mode turned on

Whereas my Crucial Ballistix, 2x16GB B die single rank, much cheaper, running 3600mhz cl16-18-18-38 at 1.35v, at 1T command rate.
So the ram is more stable as I could not get the Patriot ram to run at 1T, had to turn on gear down mode.

So your paying a bit more for not that much faster

Also have a 2x32GB Patriot Viper Steel, 3600mhz Cl18-20-20-40 xt 1.35v and also had to turn on gear down mode

The Crucial is also lower profile, so if heatsink clearance is an issue

      • What is T1?

And in conclusion which one is better?

    • I'll give you $65.

  • I have the 2x32GB 3200 kit, blue screened frequently, had to underclock at 3000mhz with XMP timings and has been perfect since. Great way to get 64GB cheap too

    • turn on Gear down mode if on AMD system or use 2T command rate on Intel, then you can run it faster

I found this one I bought this morning better value. 3733 @ 17 for ~$105 after discount

    • +1

Just some more info on this 3733 is the sweet spot for 3rd gen ryzen according to this

Also if you are after something to make sense of speed vs latency check this comment out from AMD_Robert

      Basically half the speed 3733/2 = 1866.5
Divide the CAS latency by the raw speed above 17/1866.5
Multiply by 1000 to get nanosecond response time = 9.1

These are sumsung bdie and will run cl14 on 3600.

Short story, if you plan on doing overclocking and memory optimisation, go for it.

Currently running mine at cl16 3733 with fclk at 1866. (4x8gb)

These use Samsung B-die ram chips.
So good for extremely tight timings

I have the 2 x 4000mhz kit, 4x8gb in my X570 Tomahwk system running at 3600mhz cl14-14-15-38 at 1.44v, gear down mode turned on
But won't run at 1T with these settings, just not that stable

edit not sure if these are B-die actually, as the Viper Steel I have are different
