    Needs more RAM in 2021, cant see yet if soldered but the CPU is good.
    Screen OKish? (But is it more than 250 nits? Can't see)

      The last Dell Inspiron to ever come with a DVD drive was one with an Intel 7th generation processor, the Dell Inspiron 15 5567. That's a model from 2017.

    I bought one last sale instead of the Ryzen 4500u version, Its quite a good laptop for the money, here is some of my findings based on my purchase.

    Pros
    Looks nice with very thin screen bezels, thicker ultrabook style form factor.
    Fast Cpu with 8 cores, even faster with dual channel memory, just a pity it isn't the 4800u with hyperthreading
    Good GPU performance with Dual Memory Modules, got pretty close performance wise to my old GTX860m gaming laptop.
    Dual Socketed Modules (can add 16gb easy)
    Dual M2 NVME slots

    Cons
    I feel the heatsink/ventilation is not large enough for the unit, runs nearly as hot and noisy as my Dell G3 1650M Gaming laptop, can hear it rev up at idle to try and cool down.
    Screen is an average TN screen, nothing special.
    Only comes with 1x 8GB Module installed, which nukes performance badly. integrated GPU is between 29-50% fast in a dual 3200Mhz config vs stock single 3200Mhz config
    Doesn't support XMP memory, make sure you buy 3200mhz 1.2v DDR4 the first time, unlike me and got only 2666Mhz non xmp timings.
    Uses smaller ac adapter, so if you have an older Dell ac adapter, you cannot use them without an adapter, which isn't sold by dell in australia.

    Benchmarks - I tried to run the game settings from NotebookCheck website so i had something to compare too.
    Can run pretty close to the GF860M in my old MSI gaming laptop, if you keep the resolution to 720, moving to 1080 can see quite a step performance drop off in some benchmarks, not that GF860M can do it very well either these days, i will also add the 1650M so you can see how slow it is vs a entry level gaming laptop.

        Sorry for the delay, i would probably find another module the same as what you have currently installed the laptop, as i personally wouldn't mix and match sticks.

        Probably not the best brand, but i bought them mainly as they were cheap and i had already blown money on a good set of xmp3200 which didn't work at 3200mhz.

    I just got one of these but with the dedicated graphics card for $1300

    I returned it 3 months later

    Kept giving me the blue screen of death, videos would constantly glitch every 10-15 seconds regardless of player, then the whole machine started to do the same regardless of program.

    Dell support was great, had to do a reinstall of windows and the problem resolved itself.

    But then the mouse kept freezing, blue screen memory check errors, a bios update locked the computer for 30 minutes.
    Last but not least the second SSD i installed got bricked due new Dell computers having Bitlocker actived by default.

    Because the laptop had its OS reinstalled, it locked my 1tb ssd with all my files, and of course I never got given the key to unlock it because i never knew the program was installed in the first place. Dell told me it's a microsoft program so speak to them, Microsoft told me its a Dell issue speak to them…

    I had no choice but to wipe my hard drive and lose my data…

    Luckily Dell was convinced that this laptop just wasn't what it supposed to be and gave me a refund - which is awesome of them

    BE AWARE, CHECK FOR BITLOCKER - the program won't give you a key and will suddenly lock your hard drive
