Westinghouse WHC633BC 60cm Ceramic Cooktop $589 Delivered @ Appliances Online

50

Been look at this to replace my 4 burners with knobs control (a pain to clean around the knob). I haven't ever run 4 at the same time so having 3 with one large dual setting burner will be a lot more useful. All glass touch control is my main reason to upgrade, make it easier to wipe down and clean. Price drop from $659 if I remember correctly. And free shipping to most 2000 postcode I tried. 2% Cashback from Cashrewards $10.71

I hate my ceramic cook top. It’s shit. Coming from gas it was a massive step down. I can’t wait for it to break so I can replace it with induction.

    • Why wait ?

Life is too short to use shit cooktops

      • Money? Circuit upgrades? Not a priority right now.

        • Buy a single for $59 at ikea in that case

          • @J5: I’ll tell you what my wife told me:
‘When I’m complaining I don’t want you to solve my problems - just listen’.

            • @LuckyDrew: Go and whinge to your wife then

              • @J5: (profanity), I just realised JV = J5. The first rule of ozbargain is you don't interact with jv.

Totally agree, no Gas on my street (my old property use gas), gas is a lot faster to heat up. We cook often with clay pot so induction is not useful for us.

From my research, if you're spending this much, you might as well make the slight jump to a cheap induction. IKEA has a solid one at a similar pricepoint.

    • We use clay pot and tangine quite often so induction not going to work but yeah we love how induction work on metal pots.

      • Ah, understandable. Tagine cooking is awesome so I can understand that haha.

      • Was going to come here and post just that, the Ikea induction is great.

If I was like the OP, I'd install an induction and buy a 2 burner portable for my tangine, or even install a 2 burner ceramic and install next to induction??

Ceramic for everything else if awful.

        • it great if install new kitchen i would put 30cm induction (2 burner) and 30cm (2 burner) ceramic side by side. But to put in an existing space, option is limited. Even search internet for many month for any manufacturers does 3 induction + 1 ceramic in one unit.

@huu: Another option what my relatives did where they have no gas, is a 4 burner induction and next to it a 1 burner gas wok burner for those times they want to use gas. The plumber piped it out to an external brick wall where they can connect a 9kg gas bottle (bbq size) which they can refill at camping shops for $15. This 9kg bottle should last ages for one burner.

You can also get these inserts that can be used to allow non-induction pots to work with induction stoves - would that work for your tangine?

That's one example. Still get the benefit of induction and allows the odd non-induction pot to be used.

Jump? Ikea do one for cheaper! $499.
You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy ceramic for more, knowing that.

3 burner will have room for a larger pot. And dual setting burner seem to cost a bit more. Search for 3 burner with dual setting and see. If look for 4 zone single burner there quite a lot cheaper may be as low as $300

There are only two civilised ways to cook: gas or induction.

you forgot Coal… being australia day and all

Love gas cooking until clean up time. Then I be wishing we bought induction. One smooth surface… /drool

  • Go induction/gas or go home. (hell get both a 4 burner induction for your min cooking and single burner gas for those dishes that need that gas burner touch)

    Induction>Gas> Everything else

  • So many good advice, but sometimes you are limit by the property you are at, the type of food you cook and the space available. Heck if i can afford it i eat out everyday and get rid off the kitchen altogether.

And Moving from a gas property so i know exactly what you guys talking about.

Could always buy an ikea unit for half the price

Or even induction for similar money
