I haven't personally heard of CK Computers before, just make sure this is not a scam before you pull the trigger…

    • +13

Any price above the $469 MSRP is a scam imo.

      • Heard that MSRP has been changed to $499 for 5600x ($999 for 5900X).PC Case Gear, Umart and Computer Alliance have it at $499 now for example.

        • +9

Because people keep buying it when the price keeps going up, if we all just have some patience they will stop ripping us off

      • +1 even though I ordered the $481 from amazon. It did get price dropped before shipping so got a refund for the difference but need to check SB.

  • 🤑

  • +7

not a deal, not even a good price. shouldn't pay more than $460

    • If you look at the market for 5600x, retailers are now differentiating themselves by price/availability. Whether something is a good deal or not has to take into account availability considering estimated wait times are running well into 2021.

      • and other alternatives for the product as well

    • I agree that if you can wait, you should and $460-470 is where the market should stabilise, but if you're desperate to buy a CPU, this is pretty much the one to get.

11th gen Intel is coming though so, we may see prices and availability improve both ends, the 5600X was available for ages before it ran out (in Australia), I'd keep waiting if possible.

      • +1

I'd say the 3600 is far far better value, if you want a cpu right now, the difference isn't all that much and the price difference is insane

        • -2

It is for single core performance, it's a huge leap, the 3600 is similar to Sky lake/Kaby lake, the 5600X is up there or better with Comet lake. Gamers at 1080p and/or high refresh rate will get a big boost from a 5600X vs a 3600, especially long term.

4K/1440p(UW), playing games at 60fps? Yeah don't worry about it. You do need a high end GPU to see the benefits as well, but, I wouldn't get a 3600 nowadays, it's 18 months old

  • +12

Long as you people keep jumping on stupid overpriced stuff, it will always be out of stock and overpriced.
Stop buying it and as more stock is available and they realize hey they aren't stupid enough to pay these stupid prices they will bring it back to msrp.

  • +6

At this prifce 99% of the time you're better off saving $200 and just getting a 3600. The difference at higher resolutions is minimal anyway

  • Bought with 28 degrees price protection in mind for when prices normalise. I hope this is actual stock and not a placeholder for preorder - I had a look and in some of their other product listings they state it's preorder. Given that there's no such disclaimer here, I am cautiously optimistic.

  • +6

I ordered one straight away, but it looks like ck computers stuffed up. I just added 200 of these to my cart and took it through to the checkout.

Either ck computers have all of Australia's stock, or their system has no stock limit set.

I'm going to have to get my money back.

That Harvey Norman pre-order is still running. Anyone heard anything from Harvey's?

    • +4

It lets me add 999 5900x & 999 5600x for a grand total of AU$1,496,502.00 to my cart, so safe to say there is no stock limit set on there system.

  • I looked at this store last night but if you check their listing for the 5800x it actually says In Stock, this isn't mentioned on the 5600x page.

    • He says he has 10 of the 5800x in stock. Think he said the price was $799.

He did have the 5600x in stock but only a few and sold out within seconds.

  • +1

The new Ryzen CPUs are proving hard to get than the GeForce 3080s. All I want is a 5900x at retail price but there doesn't even appear to be a trickle of stock at the moment.

    • +2

I just want a 5600x at retail price. My PLE order has not moved at all :( still 5th little square on their queue.

      • I'm also in the 5th square and ordered on the 19th of Dec. Hbu?

        • +1

I think I was the 22nd-ish? So more or less the same time. I see a reasonable amount of information about the 30 series making their way to a more sane stock position, but very little on Ryzens. I actually ended up buying a 3100 from Amazon just to get the build up and I'll swap it over when the 5600x comes in stock.

Seems all stock at the moment is getting placed into pre-builts.

        • same here….8th dec order

  • +3

    Intel looking mighty good now

    • +5

10400F $220, cheap B460/H470 $130. That's $350 for a perfectly adequate CPU + GPU combo vs here where most people probably end up paying $500 + god knows how much for a high end motherboard. Double the price for what? A few extra frames at 1080p high refresh rates.

      • +1

The CPU is fast becoming irrelevant every generation for gaming IMO.

And then you need to ask yourself, how many times do I really do work involving high core counts. And how much will it benefit.

The 5600 at $500, $200 over the regular 3600 is terrible value.

  • This seller looks very dodgy

    • like a lot of comments then…

  • +18

Called the mobile on the website, got through after half hour trying and got the wife.

“Your 5600x is that currently in stock?”
“ I’m sorry My husband is at work at the moment please call back in the afternoon”

Seriously good luck to all those that ordered.

      ROFL.

Given unlimited stock can be added to cart this is a neg to warn others.

    • +1

      got the wife, LOL

    • +1

      and this came true!!!

  • +1

    No Paypal, no purchase.

  • +1

Gees, reluctant purchase $453 for me from Amazon, now seems like a bargain..

  • +5

I told CK to cancel and now they say they'll charge me 5%

    • I've seen people joking around about something like that happening (companies screwing around with the pre-order money on some other posts I've seen here) but holy sh*t is it actually happening?

    • Have you decided to get a refund?

      • He said he'll cancel mine with a 2% fee. (most likely merchant fees)

        I'll take as a win.

Now for the wait of the money to come back to me. 🙃

Oh for anyone interested. Stalked Newegg and got my cpu delivered today. Happy days!

  • Just emailed them asking for an indicator of stock or a possible refund, and this is what they replied with:

We are currently in talks with our supplier to get a shipment in.

Seeing as other places that have an ETA have it around mid-Feb, this might be the same case.

    • +2

Not with the number of orders that they'll have. No limits on the order amount means that the queue will be huge.

      • Do you think that it's best to cancel then? Wait for a reputable seller to actually have it in stock

        • +3

          That's what I'm doing.

PLE wait list looks as slow as hell.

I'll probably try my luck with Harvey Norman's wait list or just buy the 5800x from the oc.uk deal. The folks who ordered 5800x a week or so ago are already receiving their chips.

          • @yak: ye got mine,
but prices went up, plus not sure if theres orders getting fullfilled now

  • Wow… He's jacked it back up to $549 and with the preorder disclaimer.

Anyone gotten it successfully cancelled without a fee?

  • Pre-orders only. I'd rather wait or pre-order from somewhere else with more reliable names.

Who keeps downvoting all these comments.

I got in at 499, site support said will confirm shipping date on Monday. I’ll wait for now.

I see a quick way to get some interest free loan here.

$499 for this CPU though?… From an unknown company that apparently has unlimited stock (has no limit to orders made)? Ew…

  • +2

Literally a guy working out of his home. Be very careful if you do buy as you may not get your money back.

  • +2

For all those who preordered, CK computers is now asking we pay $50 on top of our preorder or a cancellation, and he even dares to say that if we go ahead with the cancellation, he'll take a 5% fee.

  • Merged from AMD RYZEN 5 5600X order from CK Computers.

About a month ago there was this deal posted for a 5600x https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/600773.

Well now the guy is asking us to pay $50 on top of our preorders for it to go through and that we may pay the extra or cancel it. Well lo and behold, if we choose to go ahead with the cancellation he's charging for a 5% cancellation fee. Isn't that shocking?

    • +7

Haha seriously?? If they can't complete the contract at the agreed price, they are cancelling the contract, not you.

Definitely do not pay. You should be charging them a 5% cancelling contract fee.

    • … then you read the first post in that OzB thread ….

and the one where someone called and got the wife..

    • +6

Pretty sure thats illegal, contact fair trading and report em.

    • +6

I am pretty sure that's illegal. If the transaction is completed, that's it. They cannot demand it more. If they cannot supply the item at the price they sold, they have to refund the money without a fee because that's their fault, not yours.

    • +2

edit: this is the same situation I'm in. I've taken my money back less the refund fee as it's not worth more of my time and I'll be doing everything possible to report them to regulators and post reviews in every corner of the internet.

I've placed an official Google review and will ask that anyone else who's had the same experience do the same. This is a joke and they should be given the accurate reviews they deserve.

Refund policy does not take any accountability for their own incorrect advertising on their own website. Purchased an 'in stock' item and was later informed that it was a 'pre order only' after making my purchase. Decided to wait a few months for stock and because the purchase price for manufacturer increased, they wanted to charge me another $50 or wait even longer. So for not receiving a product, not being offered the produced at the purchase price and then deciding that $100 above MSRP wasn't something I'd accept, I was charged 5% refund fee for my troubles.

“Your 5600x is that currently in stock?”
“ I’m sorry My husband is at work at the moment please call back in the afternoon”

Yep that should have been one of the first warnings that should have made you go "shit maybe I should cancel my order?"

      • I had that thought too however was happy to pay the $509, not the new $569. Just another e-tailer fckin'g the aussies over on prices. I'll stick with my 3300x for the time being.

        • Check newegg, you may be able to grab it for $447

          • @F1ProjectOne: Missed it by minutes I believe. In stock, added to cart, out of stock. Just shows their price/supplier is rubbish anyway. Their response on google review is hilarious.

  • +3

Lol person behind the company complains about the information, yet can't jump on here and give people their full refund…

Anyway, not hard to do a whois on the website, then an abn search to find the sole trader behind it, and you'll find their LinkedIn easily enough…
