Good to see the double whopper w/cheese deal back, pretty much the only thing worth getting imo.

    • +2

Its not the double whopper. Just single.

      • +1

Obviously I meant 2x whoppers. There's never been a deal for a double whopper afaik.

        • Almost identical to the current deal.

          So what's the differences?

          • +5

            @capslock janitor: Step 1 - Unwrap 2 whoppers
            Step 2 - Squish whopper 1 onto whopper 2
            Step 3 - Eat

            ??

Got these vouchers delivered in our letterbox. Went to the only Hungry Jack's for miles from here.. "sorry, the whopper deal isnt eligible at our store"! They tried to get me to just pay $12 odd instead. Even though it is plastered for $9.95 all over the app… So I just got a $2 chip butty, hit em up with a survey code for the chips and drink and left..Not going to that HJs ever again…good promo…well done.

  • +1

They should be doing a voucher deal for their Iced Coffee. Heaps better than the Maccas equivalent as it's not half a cup of sugar syrup.

And twice the size of the current Whoppers too. Used to eat 2 in one sitting and I am done for the day. Similarly, BIg Mac should really be renamed Small Mac. However, the Big Jack is more like old days and tastes way better than Small Mac

      • Two whoppers for $8 now seems good not long ago..
Only worth about $4 each IMO, (shake and win price, and can sub for vegan cheeseburger)

      • Bring back the 50% off prize in the shake and win app

Wish you could use these for delivery :(

    • why can't you exactly? seems like a no brainer

      • +2

If you know a way to use these on delivery, I'm all ears.

        • -1

You can always order to get over $49, and then cancel part of the order.

        • I was complaining that it seems like a no brainer for them to let you do it.. they'd see more sales

Because these vouchers arent on the app (unless you get specific deals associated to your account)

  • +25

2 Whopper Jnr and 2 small chips now $7.25. Used to be $4.95 2 years ago. Must be all those r/Wallstreetbets people pushing up the price

    • +1

If you own a business providing service, sell food, or whatever I'm pretty sure your price would've gone up from 2 years ago.

      • +10

Wages have hardly gone up, interest rate is almost 0%, inflation has consistently been <2%. So, no.

        • +1

          Rent, supplies, etc perhaps…

        • -5

Why not upskill and get that promotion you deserve (and more money)

          • +4

@boozler: Is that same food item upgraded too or is it the same? …. or has it even shrunk maybe?

      • +2

If you are an employee working the same job or whatever I'm pretty sure your wage/salary would've gone up 46.46% from 2 years ago hold up.

        • What ? You guys are getting a hike ?

      • +2

Yes but if my wage hasn’t gone up how the hell am I supposed to pay for increases in rent, government charges, insurance, good and whatever else that goes up like clockwork except my damn salary.

    • Been that price for the last couple rounds of these vouchers. Been steadily going up over the past 2 years. I too miss the $4.95 offer.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I recall 2 X whoppers were $7.40 last year..They have increased everything.

  • +8

The straws are better at hungry jacks

    • are they still using the plastic ones?

      • +1

Yeah; but I don't mind the Macca's paper ones that come in a wrapper now

        • +8

i hate the paper ones. like, i'm already thirsty, i touch the paper ones and feel even thirstier. it also ruins the taste of the drink somehow. i just refuse the maccas straws, go home and pour the whole drink into a glass.

          • +4

@tdw: You must be really thirsty by the time you get home. Perhaps keep a stash of plastic straws in your glovebox or centre console, like everyone does with ketchup sachets……

Edit - preferably reuseable. better for the environment and all that….Perhaps even some aluminum straws. Now that's classy.

            • +1

@Poolprouk: nah, it's like a 2 min walk home. in a way it's better for me — fewer things to chuck out.

          • +1

@tdw: Because the paper straw messes (absorption) with the ratios that make a Maccas drink taste so good. The Maccas drink isn’t just water, ice and syrup thrown in together to make a drink. It’s a science.

I’m thinking of getting a couple of stainless steel straws that wouldn’t (hopefully shouldn’t!) change the taste.

The upside for me is that I’m drinking less from Maccas and my doctor is thinking I’m taking his medical advise.

            • @t25: i've kept a few bendy plastic straws (that i re-wash and re-use) from muzz buzz or those huge bubble tea ones for when i'm feeling extra classy ;)

        • +5

the straws are terrible, whoever designed them is an idiot. Its great they are paper but once u start drinking through your frozen drink, it narrows so much u can't even drink from it anymore.

        • +1

Yeah it made my maccas shake almost impossible to drink. Maybe the should just ditch straws and lids all together now like Bali.

          • @Pinchy: Hungry Jack's has already done it. I got some new strawless cup with my order when I was in SA. I haven't seen them in VIC.

        • Paper straws are better for the environment yes but I no longer get drinks out at Maccas/KFC because they are terrible.

Instead I'll go to 7/11 or Coles Express. Keep the cups to recycle, so at least I feel I'm still helping the planet.

      • No sadly

  • -1

I must say the burgers aren't that good at all. Used vouchers twice to get them for <$5 each, and think that's still too expensive.

    • +18

Compared to what? HJ burgers are much better than Maccas in my opinion.

      • Compared to the basic concept of food, to be honest.
The quality of the ingredients and the care put into making them has declined so much over the last few decades, that I'm sure it's more of a nostalgia trip/pavlovian response that keeps people excited for these things than a quest for delicious or nutritious food.
In the US they at least have the cop out that it's 'cheaper' than real food, over here people are throwing proper money at these sad piles of wilted lettuce and somewhat-meat.

        • +1

Well yes burgers/fast food arent good for you overall. Just wondering if the OP was comparing it to Maccas or other fast food outlets.

          • @Piranha2004: Exactly what reductive said. I don’t mind a bargain, but it needs to be of value. I find a local burger place, where a burger is $10-$15 10x better. Yes, you pay more, but your not eating crap.

Hungry Jacks use to be ok (when first in Tassie), but definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to have more now. Saying that will take the $2 burger offers that are put out sometimes.

      • Generally agree, though HJ seems less consistent store to store; McDs have better quality control in that respect. But McD burgers just taste consistently like plastic.

    Here we go again…

2 whopper junior and 2 small chips were $4.95 two years ago and now they're $7.25. That's a 46% increase. Has the average salary gone up 46%? No, it hasn't, so this is no longer a deal, let alone a bargain.

    • Cheaper than KFC and Mcdonald's?

    • +2

      I'll cherry pick the $2 small fries 2 yrs ago to $1 . 50% decrease .
What the !^ going on ?

    • +1

Has the average salary gone up 46%?

Has the costs of running Hungry Jacks gone up that much though? How much are staff paid on Sundays and public holidays now?

    • +1

      Here we go again

      • Youfoodz is racist

    • Suggest a cheaper alternative, not complain about it not being as cheap as it used to be.

  • Do HJ outlets across the country still accept these vouchers. A melbourne store told WM almost 2 years back they they now only accept the in app offers and I have never tried these since then 🙁?

  • +5

Welcome, all the visitors from the past. It's 2021. Oh yes, the prices went up since 2-10 years ago.

Would rather just get a banh mi at these prices

Used to prefer HJ over the other fast food joints as they have more vegetables in the standard burgers but have noticed the price and thinner patties just don't make it appealing anymore

    • mmmmm banh mi….

      • +1

I can imagine someone saying banh mi on Reddit or Discord and then getting very misunderstood lol.

  • +1

I still remember 2 whopper deal for $6.95. If only my salary increases by the same % as the whopper.
