$10 dearer than Samsung Edu store pricing minus bonus wireless charger. Good option for those who can't get EPP access?

  • +3

    Is it still exynos?

    • Yes.

    • +6

Exynos has caught up by all reports though this year

        • +3

That video sums it up, though your conclusion seems fairly off.

Both are very similar performance, with the exy CPU usually very slightly outperforming the 888, though the GPU in the 888 is moderately better.

Faster wi-fi and mobile internet speeds for the exynos.

Despite the performance drop shown in the video you linked, I've typically preferred Mali GPUs, which is my limited experience have had more consistent results and generated less heat.

      • +10

I stopped caring about the performance of these flagship SoC years ago, since they are already overpowered for my own use and probably 90%+ of what typical smartphone users do with their phones. What I did care about is the removal of sd card slot, I’m obviously in the minority on this one though, just like those who care about one SoC being better than the other one. Most phone users wouldn’t even know what an exynos is or an A14 for that matter. I reckon if you care about having the fastest SoC in your phone, don’t even consider an Android device,

        • +2

Agreed but More like 99.995% of users. The only ones who need it, or care about the CPU to this lame degree of difference are try hards and reviewers looking for something to whinge about.

          • @Capitalshark: Totally disagree, having seen the comparisons of the last gen Exynos vs SD - its significant.
Not just battery and general performance, but it impacts camera quality too.
Also when SD phones are available at a lower price - it's a critical consideration.

            @Capitalshark:

try hards and reviewers looking for something to whinge about.

            This is very true

        • I agree that's why I don't think flagships are worth it anymore. Go for mid range and they should satisfy most of your appetite and you get better value (Pixel, iPhone se, Samsung Fe etc.)

    • It's the sexy version, though.

      • +2

        Some would say sexynos

    • Asking for no other reason than because ExYnOs

    • -1

Have you actually looked at reviews? Zzzzz go trol elsewhere

    • +3

      Exynos is great again.
At many times in the cycle the exynos has been the better chip.

As of now they're perfectly equal, with the exynos outperforming SD with connection speeds, and the SD outperforming with the GPU.
I'd take the exynos this model for sure.

    • The entire globe, minus the USA and China get Exynos. The market is split 50:50

Exynos used to be the better choice. In the s20 it overheats, once that is solved it will be the better choice again

  • +6

I'd buy an S20 FE or get the s21 ultra if you need the latest bling on the block. Watch YouTube vids and you'll see the s21/+ are not worth it, just get the S20 FE. If money is no object then smash away and grab the s21 ultra for a real upgrade.

    • +2

S21 is smaller than Fe just fyi. Often people will want phones of a certain size. I don't think anyone would cross shop s21 with s21 Ultra.

      • Pay a few hundreds more just to get a smaller phone?

        • Pay more get less. The new hipster trend.

        • +3

For a newer phone yes…. Not sure what world you have been in? Do you expect the new iPhone 13 pro to be cheaper than the iPhone 13?

    • +1

FE has the notorious screen issues. No thanks.

      • Actually had not heard of that anywhere. I'd watched haps of reviews and never came up. Now it's possible they had ulterior motives but doubt it. Appears as though some unlucky people do experience it. They've released 3 patches and on Reddit there's comments that it fixed the issue for some, half fixed for others and some still have the issue. Seems the most recent patch was also only for Snapdragon units? There definitely are YouTube vids showing it but many are 3+ months older. The few that are recent show the problem fixed or still showing issues, like when you run three fingers simultaneously down the screen. I'm not worried and looking forward to my S20 fe when Samsung device to ship it.

  • Does anyone else think that the violet colour edition specially looks ugly. Dont like the camera cutout of this s21 edition

    • In person it looks really good. The first time i saw it i thought the same as you.

    • Love the violet. Goes really good with the rose gold trim. Phone market is full of black white and wacky rainbow colors, it's time a manufacturer brought in some flat colors.

Also love Samsung's nardo grey on the s20 line

    • +1

I really like the camera cutout design. But agreed, dont like the violent, even in person.

(I have owned a grey S21 for over a week now)

Deal expired? Shows as $1,548 for me

  • Common give us a fold z 2 at $1.5k

  • -7

So there is already $300 margin to move on day two after the phone officially on sale and worse people are offloading the buds desperately, live for $150 and pro for $250.

Guess its never a good deal to buy at launch unless you are desperate. I am glad that I did not pull the trigger with Vodafone.

Precious OZB deal of previous generations has a 20% price drop in the first two months and up to 40% drop in the first 6 months when retails throw out specials. Lets hope the will happen so I don't have to trouble friend on buying from EDU/EPP.

Exynos? If it is then it in the inferior version

    • +1

you must be nuts all the reviews say Exynos 2100 beats snapdragon 888
Snapdragon isn't the snapdragon it used to be Qualcomm has lost out so much by not collaborating with Apple and Microsoft them going alone meaning they do not have the deep pockets for research -they may have to team up with Kirin Huawei

    • -1

Commented by someone that repeats what they hear and hasn’t used either.

      • The irony of this comment

        • Your comment is baseless. “If it’s Exynos it’s inferior”. Please. Repeating what you hear

  • +1

got the S21 standard thanks I hate carrying phones the size of clutch
bags - grannies put that kind of large phones under armpits - like clutch bags

  • +1

Gotta love when someone posting a deal becomes an Exynos vs Snapdragon thread. If you did some research it seems the 2100 and 888 fare quite well together.

The obsession over SOT, 2 second app opening times etc is cringey and over the top.

  • -2

didn't even got S21 already. Still stucked in S10 era lol

  • Dual sim/carrier compatible (esim+sim) in the AUS version?

    • yep.

(at least my S21 that i got from the samsung australia store is. So i dont see why this would be any different)

      • Awesome, thanks.

Will both work simultaneously (same was as a xiaomi Mi9t etc would?).

I'm due for an upgrade and prefer a dual sim so I don't have to carry two phones.

        • Possibly? In not sure tbh, haven't looked into it as I don't have an esim

    • you use have a small cliterous, I can help
