[QLD] Coles Christmas Price Promise

90

I am not sure if this is only available in QLD. "Buy any of our 12 Christmas favourites at Coles, see it cheaper at Woolworths, IGA or Aldi within 7 days in QLD and we will refund double the difference until Christmas Eve".

All you need is to present some evidence to prove that the price you can get is cheaper than Coles', for those items in the photo (this was a banner at the entrance of the store). I bought 4x 125g punnets of blueberries. They cost $2.98 at Coles and $1.99 at Aldi. I brought along Aldi's valid catalogue as proof. Coles refunded me close to $8, which means I paid less than $1 per punnet. However you need to go through the trouble of getting the refund. I was told to purchase the item and then get it refunded at the service desk (this may differ from store to store). The staff at the service desk have never come across having to refund for this price promise claim and I had to wait a while to get the refund while they sought confirmation, etc. Quite surprising, considering this price promise was valid since mid Nov.

Items include (from a flyer at Garden City Shopping Centre. Not certain if this applies to all Coles stores):
- Coles brand whole fresh turkey
- Australian large cooked black tiger prawns
- Coles whole and half cooked leg ham
- Australian brushed potatoes 3kg bag
- Gravox traditional gravy canister 120g
- Coles frozen whole turkey size 34
- Coles fruit mince pies 6 pack
- Coles thickened cream 600ml
- Pauls brandy custard 1kg
- fresh blueberries 125g
- Ocean Spray cranberry sauce 275g
- Coles Christmas pudding 700g

The staff at the service desk have never come across having to refund for this price promise claim

i heard it on the p.a. in coles so i assume they are aware of it by now :)

    • i guess they are aware of the deal but a few of them have not come across or having to serve a customer asking for the refund and hence not sure how to enter into their register.

      • How different can it be to the overscanning refund policy all supermarkets have?

Seems like unless you try to get a good refund on purpose its not particularly worth your time.

Seems like it will work out very well for those who don't mind using the service desk a lot.

  • I did just pick up 1KG of cut AUSSIE birds eye green beans…and 1KG of AUSSIE birds eye green peas for $3 each tonight! They keep great in the freezer!

  • Anyone heard of it in Victoria?

Yeah, I've seen this at the Coburg, Vic store I believe. Although, I don't remember seeing it at my local St Kilda store.

    • It is in Geelong as well

Your time is theirs - and probably the Aldi ones were fresher. isn't that the entire list of items? Who else sells 3kg bags of BRUSHED potatoes anyway? Do Woolys - are they wasting an opportunity here to get at coles? Hold on who else sells Coles turkeys?

No wait they have a similar offer for different items - what no overlap - they don't sell coles brand turkeys do they - does anyone smell some form of agreement between them over prices - surely not - it must be because its christmas - hoh hoe hoh

  • Hey just wondering if there is a limit? I need to buy some prawns for christmas about 5kg. I'm hoping woolies or IGA has them cheaper.

  • see it cheaper at Woolworths, IGA or Aldi within 7 days in QLD

So if I'm on a short holiday in QLD and I see it cheaper there, I can bring the proof back to NSW and claim a refund here? :)

Never mind, I'll just wait for the post Christmas pudding sales. Much cheaper then anyway.

    • The ad on tv in Victoria, they said "if you find a cheaper price in Victoria" so I am guessing it will be the same for each state

  • Just had the same ad on tv in WA, for WA.

  • It exists in Melbourne. (saw in kilsyth store, but may be different products)
Only problem is some of them are "Coles brand whatever". What other store is gonna sell Coles brand stuff?!

  • I dunno -what other store is gonna sell Coles brand stuff? Stuffs a bit low range for Aldi so must be Tesco - that's where Coles buy's its gear from.

  • It doesn't have to be coles brand, just equivalent.

  • Price matched at Hornsby (NSW) worked fine :-)

Aldi have cheaper Blueberries this week :-)

  • Can anyone find out if this deal also applies to Coles brand anti-depressants? For people who are supposedly 'down' on the ad…they look ****ing happy!
