If I put this on the back of my Camry, I reckon I can pass it off as a Skyline

      You'd need 4 of them

any recommendations to replace the stock cooler for ryzen 5600x CPU? would this be any good? looking at $50-$100 budget range

    • How far is your overclock that you need to?

I've managed some pretty amazing overclocks on similar ryzen chips and stayed below 85c; leaving 10c headroom to the maximum official rating.

But yes, this will work fine on ryzen regardless.

what is your main gripe or reasoning for wanting to get away from the stock cooler?

if you just want something quieter, because that stock cooler can get loud you can simply get any decent midrange air cooler.
even with an entry level air cooler like a cm 212/deepcool gammaxx 400 you will get reduced noise levels and better thermals (thermals less so, because the stock cooler isn't AWFUL)

generally 120mm AIOs are only purposeful in mini itx builds where size is a restraint, because most midrange aircoolers will easily outperform it.

so i'd only advise getting a 120mm AIO where you are doing an ITX build, or simply for the cosmetic appeal of it.

back to your original question - this would work fine and allow the CPU to autoboost without issue, but if you were gonna get into more aggressive overlocking then you are better off with a midrange aircooler or a 240mm liquid cooler at a minimum.

      • im current running 70-80 degrees while gaming and 40 + degrees while idle with the stock cooler, not sure if thats a bit high than normal. I think im gonna take your advice and go for an air cooler. is CM 212 black edition a good option , seems decently cheap

        • some may think you need to get a better cooler, but i dont think its necessary unless ur gonna overclock.

here is a video showing the type of temperature decrease with a coolers in the same tier as the 212 (i couldn't find one using the 5600x and a 212, but plenty of 3600 videos - which would be similar anyway)

so if you are looking to spend around that ~$50 price range
          coolermaster 212
          arctic freezer 34
          gammaxx 400
          ID-COOLING SE-224

          these all have 4 heatpipes

        • You're within official specs, that's not hot.

If you're running stock clocks, you'd get better results with a small undervolt, and perhaps thermal paste.

But it's all unnecessary, unless you're breaking 90c you're not worried. 95c is the official rating.

        • Thats what I was getting with the stock cooler, I think its normal. I put my old, massive Raijintek air cooler on it and it took the gaming temps to max 70. Didnt make much of a difference. I am contemplating some arctic p12 fans to see if that makes a difference.

          I think you're fine.
