            • @Larsson: I think its more poor PSUs lead to problems, I've had a few mates who cheaped out and regretted after working out it was the cause of their problems, and obviously its all a trade off, I think a good PSU is a worthwhile investment also this wattage is the bare minimum nvidia recommends and I've heard of power spikes in GPU causing problems with cheaper PSUs tripping power limits

Hard disagree on all the comments here, people are so top spec focused they seem to have lost sight here. I usually don't comment but this one got me riled up.

You are saying you are working on a 5-6 year old laptop, this rig is a MASSIVE upgrade to both CPU and GPU. Not only generation on generation and spec sheet/benchmark update - these are desktop processors.

They are already light years ahead of the laptop you have and if you can currently get your job done somehow, this rig as is more than enough for now and for good few more years.

If you don't know but you are told to upgrade the mobo, you are wasting your money. You'd upgrade the mother board because you are looking to get Zen 4 or whatever AMD decides to call the next gen CPUs. (zen 3 is just out and not a ton of improvement for what you are concerned). Or you are looking to be able to to 128gig ram and not get stuck with 64gb this mobo is capable.

Cooler same boat, you are already getting a ton improved CPU, let alone it already has a stock cooler, why would you need a premium cooler?

SSD - absolutely, if you are not so tach savvy and not confident you can install it - its literally clicking it in place and screwing it in - than yeah do get SSD upgrade (or m.2 is even better but for a regular work computer SSD is still pretty good.).

Activation - yeah not sure about that one but if this is work related and there is a chance you might get audited, maybe get a legit key. (People say from eBay for $10? maybe, never done that myself.)

TL;DR: People here seem to have lost the plot - this is a premium computer that's much, much better than your laptop and will get the job done just fine.

PS. I don't know many programs except rendering and video/visual affects programs to take advantage of GPU, so this GPU might even be an absolute overkill, Depends on the programs you use.

      • +1

        @Larsson appreciate the comment.
Yeah i know its a massive upgrade, which I don't mind because my programs are starting to run slow/laggy at certain points. Since I'm not tech savvy I'm hoping to get something good that will last me another 5-6 years or so much like how my laptop did for me. may or may not actually start getting into upgrading gears in the future, not sure.
Although I'd be using it for architectural 'work', but since i'm currently freelancing it's also my personal computer so I do play some games on it. Probs just some LoL or FF, etc.
work programs - adobe suites, render programs (works kinda like sims4), sketchup, 3D modelling, parametric programs.
With that in mind, do you still stand by your thoughts?

        • +2

Definitely, this will be an absolute overkill for esports games like LoL and will get about 60 frames @1440p on all modern AAA titles that push the hardware to its limits on high settings. That is assuming your monitor is @1440p and over 60fps. If it’s 1080p, this is waaay way over kill.

The professional programs you listed basically are hardware hungry programs. So there is no end to how high end you can go.
Again, If you are able to get your job done on your current laptop, this is just going make things infinitely faster.

For getting into upgrading later, well why upgrade now than? Upgrade when you actually need it. Non of these components are forever soldered together. If you decide you need a better mobo for whatever reason, that get it when you do. But there is no reason this mobo won’t be sufficient for all the components on it on this build.

          Hope this helps.

    • +1

get one of their cheaper builds. this is too much for your use case.

  • Hi Luke, what cpu liquid cooler brands do you use? Does not mention them on the web page.

    • Primarily Allied IceCube and occasionally Deepcool models.

  • Any option to not have certain parts. Like opt out of the Storage and the price is reduced by how much it would cost with the Storage.
The mobo is pretty bad so I want to upgrade to the Gigabyte one but that obviously increases the price so I was hoping to "De-select" the SSD or other non important parts which you could put in later?

Also what brand of the graphics card??.

    • I just realised I've got a spare SSD lying around that I could use too. Curious about this too @luketechfast

    • We can't remove any components to reduce the price as we need to test the system. You could order it unassembled and on sell any components you don't need; enter SHIP UNASSEMBLED in the Notes field at checkout. Individual part warranties apply.

The graphics cards will vary from primarily Gigabyte, Galax and MSI, potentially Asus according to what is on hand when your order comes through.

  • Its $1,556 as the Biostar motherboard isn't worth it even if it was free so with the Gigabyte one its $1,556 without shipping.
    $50 for shipping so $1,606.

    • +1

what's wrong with the mobo? Not everyone needs 128gb ram…

  • +6

What’s so bad about the biostar motherboard? I get that it’s “barebones” but isn’t it sufficient for someone that isn’t planning to overclock or do much else other than add an ssd etc to the current build?

    • +1

      Yes, it is.

    • Yeah nothing wrong with it just missing alot of the bells and whistles and definitely not a premium board.

      • +2

Yeah, then people can go spend another $1,000 on upgrades.

There's a reason there's budgets, it's not like they couldn't build a higher quality build but it wouldn't be under $1,500.

You can never make anyone happy on here.

        • so budget build is under $1,500?

          • +1

@jamessong: If you want to cram all the other specs this has in there for as little as possible, $1500 is budget. You could get a similar performing PC for $3000 if you wanted to, that would be non-budget. Budget is relative to what you want and what you have to spend.

          • @jamessong: It is if you want this card, I've got mates that have paid 1100-1200 just for a 3070, so to get a working computer assembled and delivered to you for $300 bucks is a bargain.

  • I am wanting to get a computer with 64 GB ram - how is the cost of going from 32 GB to 64 GB another $410 ?

    • +3

Do the ram upgrade yourself for a lot cheaper.

    • +1

because thats not what they have negotiated to get an amazing priced barebones deal. upgrades are likely much higher margin for them and good on them for even offering it.

  • +5

First time customer for techfast, had to adjust my order so I emailed this morning. Got prompt responses from them in the same day and a complex change in order and price adjustment got resolved within 30 minutes through few emails back and forth. Very professional customer care.

  • +1

So cheap just the video card over $1000 on eBay.

    • glowing reports too "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is without a doubt the best graphics card on the market for most people. It delivers performance on par with the RTX 2080 Ti at less than half the price, truly bringing 4K gaming to the mainstream for the first time. " With the level of performance on offer with the RTX 3070, you're essentially getting for $499 (£469, about AU$700) what would cost you $1,199 (£1,099, AU$1,899) with the RTX 2080 Ti just a week ago. "

      • is it really on par with 2080ti? I thought 2080ti slightly > 3070?

  • Hey Luke, I have my own PCIE Wi-Fi card and I think the biostar mobo is fine with PCIE WiFi cards since it has 2 PCI-E x1 slots. Can I add notes when I place my order in order to get the biostar one since some other mobo doesn’t have 2 slots and 3070 might block one.

    • you will not be able to use other pcie slot on biostar as 3070 will eat that space.

      • The biostar one has 2 PCI-E slots tho, will 3070 block both of them?

        • +1

Yes it's larger than 2 slots. You'll need a pcie riser cable

  • @Luke is the GPU NVidia or is it Asus / MSI / PNY ?

    • already answered

  • how do i select the deepcool case? When i click the photo, the price stays the same

    • +1

Might be buggy, sometimes the price doesn't update when images are selected. Add it to your cart and see if it's in there at checkout. If its not we can invoice for it after via email. We're moving website platform fairly soon which will remove these things.

  • This may have been asked before. Should I upgrade the motherboard? Wifi is not important, and I plan to start doing some modern FPS game streaming.

So far I've only upgraded my the ram on this rig to 32GB.

Would that be sufficient at 1440p?

    • The 3070 is absolutely powerful enough to handle modern games at 1440p. Probably will run most games above 144hz too if you have a compatible monitor. 32 GB more than enough for a streaming setup. I would avoid the liquid coolers they offer and pickup your own air cpu cooler from somewhere else. The stock cooler is probably sufficient but you can get decent third party coolers for relatively cheap.

      • Any suggestions for a compatible air cooler? Sorry I'm very noob

  • +2

I'm in the market for a new PC but also happy to wait until next year (none of the current games interest me much).

I know people always say buy when you need it but is this deal likely going to be better value than something I get next year? GPU prices seem to be here to stay and I'm also wary that there might be new tech around the corner.

I guess my question boils down to this: if I come back this same time next year, will I be able to get something better for the same price?

    • I'm in the same boat too, not in a rush

    • +6

The simple answer to this is yes, there will always be a deal around, always new tech coming out that will supersede the previous gen. The best general advice is if you see something that suits your needs and you have the budget at the time, jump on and be content with it - next year something else will arrive shortly after you buy to supersede that.

  • Do you mind just ship components individually to me, I am happy to install myself.

    • Put 'SHIP UNASSEMBELED' in notes while checking out your order. You will not get the 1 year assembly warranty but you will do get the individual component warranty by the component vendor.

    • ^^ this 🤣

      • +2

Where is my commission luke? 🤣

        • i see that you lurked around quite a bit. Did you finally pull the trigger this time, oli?

          • @jamessong: Yes I did

            • @oliman: Did you upgrade your MoBo to the WiFi version? If not, how do you plan the Internet connectivity for this PC? Wired via RJ45?

              • +2

@jamessong: yiu cab buy a pci express wifi carf for cheap but cant be sure if it will be able to connect to pciexpress ports since the 3070 cards are mystrey on this deal (i.e. 2 slot thick card or 3 slot thick card)

You can also use usb based wifi dongle. Not very great for high speed downloads but good enough for browsing or youtube.

  • This or the Dell xps for $1830 after you apply the 32% discount?. The Dell comes with 3 years warranty, but not sure if I can upgrade the ram myself.
Can someone help? Check the link of the pc below.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-8940-Desktop-i7-10700k-…

    • +1

Isn't that saying the price already includes 32% off the ridiculously inflated RRP of $3999?

      • Mb. In that case it's not good.

    • How do you get it at that price? Whats the active coupon?

  • Got one :)

    • What's the plan for Internet connectivity? I presume you didn't upgrade to WiFi motherboard?

  • Discount Code not working for me…..

  • +2

Why a micro-atx board in an ATX case?

  • Just placed my order, this would be my first gaming pc, looking forward it. Hopefully this is a big upgrade for me after using early 2015 macbook air, lol.

    • +1

What's the plan for Internet connectivity? I presume you didn't upgrade to WiFi motherboard?

      • +1

I did actually upgrade the motherboard got MSI X570

  • +1

Hey @luketechfast - I went to place an order on this system with some upgrades but noticed the Deepcool case upgrade is unavailable. Do you guys have any other cases of similar or better quality available?

    • +1

I'll have to talk to Ops next week, case availability hasn't been good and those Matrexx quantities were what we have on hand.

      • Hi Luke, I just purchased the deal with the Lance too and would be keen to know about other case options if and when please.

  • How many fans will the Lance-V case come with?

    • 3 intake, 1 exhaust.

  • @Luketechfast (or anyone who knows about the case and MB)
Hi mate, I ended up buying one and was wondering what the IO was with nothing upgraded and when I need to expand the storage will I be able to just add a new SSD or will I need to remove the one it comes and use that slot?

    • +1

I asked techfast support about drives, who said "The Lance-V case doesn't come with HDD bays so you would need to screw the HDDs in directly to the HDD cage in order to properly mount them. The Lance-V only supports 2 SATA SSDs mounted in the case and they are fairly easy to mount next to the motherboard on the inside of the case."

My plan is to buy a cheap bracket or get McGyver-like if I need to add more stuff to the case.

      • Thanks, I was thinking of adding 1 m.2 (fingers crossed I can add it without needing to take out the first one) and 1 HDD to it in the future (m.2 for more games, hdd for general storage like documents and media). The case has me worried, website says the IO is only 3 usb ports. I'm not a huge computer guy so I'm hoping my understanding that it's only talking about the front IO is correct and isn't including the rear ones.

    • Edit, I did upgrade to 150mpbs wifi, not sure if that'll make a difference

  • burner GPU or?

  • @Luketechfast, I just happened to book "R5-3500X GTX 1660 Super" from TF last Friday. Then I noticed it would be very slow to get the PC. Considering that I had issues paying by my own card and finally paid thru my friend's card, would you please help to cancel the order "TF140972631" for me? I contacted the support and it seems it is slow to get the response. Hopefully, it can be canceled soon otherwise TF may start to order the PC parts.

    • The support guys will be working through a number of requests associated with this deal as well, so give them some time, but it won't be a problem

      • +1

Cool. Thanks, Luke. That is a quick one. What a good service provided by TF.

  • +1

Wow just got a shipping email - arriving 16-18 feb. Very quick. Maybe because I requested mine unassembled?

    • Sorry to burst your bubble dude but I think they must buy shipping labels in batches or something. I bought a techfast system a while back and got a similar early notification but it didn't actually ship until much later. Luke is pretty good with updating you on your purchase if you send him your order number

      • +1

Just went through my messages and I got a shipping notification at the start of Mar 2019 then received the system on Mar 29th

        • +1

According to Auspost it was picked up at 2:11pm today and is currently in transit.

          • @SnowDragon: For your sake I hope it's correct! I don't recall if I had live updates past the notification

            • +5

@hodgeyhodgey: It arrived today. Got a Gigabyte 3070.

              Can't complain with a 9 day turnaround.

  • Also received shipping confirmation! Australia Post tell me they have picked it up from the sender and it is in transit. Didn't request to have it shipped unassembled either.

    • Woah! When did you order?

      • Very happy! Ordered on the 3rd, about 30 mins after the deal went live. Upgraded mobo to the Gigabyte X570.

        • Nice one! thanks

  • +5

Deal now expired, thanks to everyone who ordered, and to TA for the post!

    • +1

      Hi luke,
could this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/599322 be upgraded to Ryzen 5 3600 Processor? what's the best price?
Do you still have a lot of ASUS B450 mobo in stock?
      TiA

      • No CPU upgrade available unfortunately, stock reserved for this 3700X deal. Plenty of Asus boards, leave a note at checkout if you wanted one.

  • +2

Can I please still get this

    • +1

Can I please still get this?

  • Hi, just trying to look for some help regarding this particular product, there seem to be a bit of mix up with my order, would appreciate any help haha

    Thank you in advance

  • +3

Mine came in yesterday! I placed the order when this deal was posted. Just putting it out there so that it helps people estimate their delivery times somehow :)

    • +1

You're so lucky, where are you located

      • +1

        I'm in South East Melbourne.

    • +1

Nice! Did you get any shipping notification?

      • +2

Yes. I got it when it was shipped, both by Auspost and Techfast. I have the PC with me. Came with a GALAX 3070.

        • Good on you! Ordered same day but sadly no notification yet.

        • Which ram did you get? Brand and capacity
