    • Good for pickup if you are near Auburn or Clayton. Otherwise no free delivery.

  • Is it better than an actual NAS? I have a 12TB WD desktop HD.

    • I wouldn't really compare this to a NAS given that they usually have more 1 bay and RAID redundancy.

You could certainly use it as one if you intended on using a 2.5" drive or connecting an external drive via USB.

    • +1

Plug in 4x USB 12TB drives and install Unraid. NAS.

      • Raid over USB…. Nope.

        • Technically it will work, unraid is sw raid.

Can I use this for a bar top arcade? Or stuck to a raspberry Pi

    • +2

I'd advise against sticking it to a Raspberry Pi

    • You can but you could also buy a dell 7020 for buck o' five.

    • Depends.

If you want a PC, grab this.
If you want just a mini computer for arcade games, raspberry Pi will do.

My arcade machine is a built on a Dell AiO 23” as I’m more comfortable with Windows.

      • RPI sucks for arcade emulation in terms of accuracy. If you've got a cabinet, why go for small things? I say this as the owner of two Raspberry Jammas and two arcade cabs.. They suck compared to a windows 7 pc running CRT_Emudriver.

  • Great plex hardware transcoder for this price! With Ubuntu this should manage 3 or 4x UHD HDR to 12mbps 1080p SDR streams with tone mapping.

    • Would this device be good for running Milestone NVR software xprotect-essential, and running 4x 6MP Dahua security cams?

  • I run an Intel NUC and the i3 is enough for a media PC. I do like the fact that the NUC has IR sensor, good for the universal remote, else tricky to power up without it.

I assume this uses similar tech?

    • +1

This doesn't have IR unfortunately. They advertise the ability to have an external power button besides the one on the case but it's not included. It's one of the things they don't have compared to a NUC to make it cheaper.

      • Could always use a USB HDMI-CEC adapter. Then just use your TV remote. One area where a Pi and other SBC's are better though, since HDMI-CEC is built in.

  • Any recommendations for NUC with Ryzen? I need more cores for ESXi virtualization.

    • If you're willing to buy from China then MINISFORUM are a good option. Their website is clunky but plenty of stores sell them with plenty of YouTube reviews.

They sell a lot of different Ryzen and Intel models with many having extra features like Dual GbE ethernet ports.

    • You could go for an Asus PN50 from mwave
      https://www.mwave.com.au/product/asus-mini-pc-pn50-barebone-…

  • Great value for a basic desktop.

  • Can anyone give any info about the eGift Card? Is it only for MSI's store (if it even exists), or is it for other stores?

    Thanks

    • Nevermind. I finally found the link. Here is a group of shops you could turn it into.
